@dianmarin I was a kid when this came out and I loved listening to it. Bah..a sad thing these new kids only get shit to listen to. It's like a complete fucking brainwash.
@UltraRockSounds I still AM a kid, I reckon. I am seventeen and I just can't stand today's music - Justin Bieber, Ke$ha, Lady Gaga? I mean, seriously? I love 90s stuffs like Oasis and The Verve, maybe a little Coldplay and Kasabian. Most of today's music arent as sincere as their stuffs - they arent composed by heart and there's no sense of art in them. It's all about sex, parties, getting drunk and wasted and stupid love stories wrapped in autotuned melodies. Those un-genuine shites bore me.
@dianmarin The sad thing is there are much better bands out there that simply don't get signed because they're not particularly what the record companies are looking for. The big major labels of today just focus on little teens who generally don't have any musical knowledge and the idea is to sell sell sell. All they do is repeat the formula. I see today's music as Fast food (Crappy and good to go). There's no meaning in mainstream music anymore. To me this is a censorship of true art itself.
@UltraRockSounds I know! There's an amazing band called THE VINYLS who aren't getting enough love and it's unfair :( Check them out! THE VINYLS-GET IT OUT OF YOUR HEAD
Adoro este grupo esta cancion desde que era un niño que mi padre me enseño su musica.Despues de mucho tiempo he visto un directo de bittersweet symphony y saben que? he llorado
Seriously... come back, Verve! They should realize that the band is huge, and their stupid brokeup is meaningless, when it comes to make music like this.
I was at the Expo in Germany in 2000 and visited the Brisith Pavilion.
There was a mega-screen which showed photos and short films of British things like, Police (Bobbies), Buckingham Palace, Coutryside, Pubs, London, etc,. You knew when it was going to start because the intro to Bittersweet Symphony started playing. It was heaven!! Everytime I hear this song, I'm back to 2000 and I get goosebumps and tears.
This must be one of, if not, THE most finest song to come from the UK EVER.
I'm 16 and I really hope this kind of music will be played on the radio again.Like we have to put up with all this new crap and I'll have to live through it.Not that I listen to most radio music. I search hard to find good music. But there's times when it's on in every shop you walk into and you have to stand in the line and listen.
I know the band doesn't get along with Ashcroft, but when they get together to make music, magic happens. My New Years wish is that the Verve put out an album in 2012 and remind the world what good music sounds like.
sitting here thinking of you, how you would tell me to turn the volume up when you hear this song and this is my first christmas without you. thank you for teaching me the best principle in the whole world and that is to have patience with people. listen to them, care for them, be there for them and love them ............ unconditionally. thanks mom ;)
@tonykartt Go live in North Korea if you hate capitalism so much. Capitalism is the reason you are on a computer and have a house and food and air conditioning.
@gemarcher83 capitalism made america the highest standard of living and the most powerful country on the planet in 240 years, where all other civilizations failed in 6,000 years!
Love this so much, but the thing is they have so many other epic songs to rival this one! I listen to the Verve/Richard Ashcroft every day and I'll never get tired of them. Thank you God for giving us this beautiful music.
need help please: in your opinion: what were the best performances at glastonbury? my personally list: moloko, faithless, florence & the machine, the verve, amy, oasis. any further suggestions? i haven´t been there yet, but i hope, i´ll manage it to get there before i die.
Me thinks i have posted before, but every time i see this performance i get goose bumps all over, i was there on the day, blew me friggin socks off ,( i wear my socks on my head ) respect
one of the most beautiful songs ever, the violins riffs, the lyrics, it sounds so epic, best song from te 90's i think. it gives you that feeling of bliss.
I wish I was at that show with Chloe Grace Moretz and Ellen Page just having fun...Ellen Page would be sitting on my shoulders and I'll be holding Chloe by her waist...nice...nice
The Verve used a Rollings Stones instrumental sample in "Bittersweet Symphony" which in turn legally had them give credit to Keith Richards and Mick Jagger as songwriters. The single's royalties went to Allen Klein. If you plagiarize you then owe whomever created the original work. The song is haunting and the first few notes are instantly recognizable as The Verve's Bittersweet Symphony. Being there must be an amazing head experience.
Great performance, great song and Glastonbury is it's usual totally insane self. (For the 3 Americans left not to have ever been there, picture the original Woodstock. Every year.)
The Rolling stone's sued The Verve for plagorizing this song & won. IMO, this sounds more like Sonny & Cher--still a good song, very dreamy & atmospheric.
i dont understand why you people fight over all the musicians, all i can say that this is an amazing song and we should just be thankful that this music is around, these musicians are in it because its what they love, they arnt in it to fight with others, so just sit back and enjoy the beauty of the music :)
