  • I don't know. IMHO chip music doesn't really 'work' when you take it on stage. On the stage people are just pressing random buttons to make it look like they're playing so it looks pretty fake. Unlike pulling the strings of a guitar you just CAN'T play chip music live. It's just too abstract, too dunno the word...

It's good that people show interest though. :)

  • not saying anything about the guitar, but their are live programs for making chiptune - its not all recorded.

but i stand neutral on the topic of which takes more skill.

  • but seriously, why would you one to play a chip 'live', if imho one can get better results with effects timed properly, the notes cut off where they should be, the volumes adjusted?

Unlike as it is with tangible instruments, in chiptunes numbers, careful calculations and patience do the magic. It's almost like programming! Without those the sounds become chunky and heavy, the chip loses what makes it so special and cool. It just don't work 'live' imho. But it's just my personal opinion. :)

  • Agh, I wish this was done in english.. I'd like to know what she's saying about Rob Hubbard.

  • Basicaly :

"8 years after Pong, R.Hubbart have succeded to compose a music with 8 bits and become the ennio morricone of the video game. In 10 years he impose his style and write some 'Anthem' like "Monty on the run". Today, their fan(antic) request autographs. This success story is related by the C64, the cult computer of the chiptune adept who means "the sound of the chip" (Hey... it's translate in french originally))

Sorry about my bad english ^^

  • Thank you for the explanation! It's 'Hubbard' though, and not 'Hubbart', hehe. Hubbard's musics are very cool - too bad his public persona is so boring, heh.

  • Hi,
