I really love ducks since I was 10 years old i used to have duck pets at home... now that i am 35 years old and has my own family i still have ducks... i have Mallards, Pekin and Muscovies... i like cayuga too and wanting to get a pair.. i really appreciate your effort for documenting Miracle's short stay... recently i lost may Cutie 2months old muscovy she was dragged by my brother's dog... she died due to rabies a week after the incident... my kids named all of our ducks...
we have 5 all together... 1 peking, 2 cayugas, and 2 rouens... we originally had 10 all together..:-( lost 5...they are quackers, half note, and clarence( the other two rouens havent named yet..lol...clarence is a runt so he is inside right now till we get the duck house finished...Thank you for sharing pics of miracle...makes us appreciate ours that much more....Just thank you soooo much...have vids of ducks and our chickens under this sn...take a look..will prolly warm your heart:-)
you did a good dead bringing it back...we lost 2 ducks both female to one of those racoons..1 of them we tried to bring back but we had to put her down....i now shoot raccoons on sight
Once again I felt a need to watch this video again.. Miricale really has captured me.. On my previous comment (I thought my lill duck was a cayuga but she wasnt! lol) .. anyhow as I have got two male ducks that live outside, and female that lives indoors.. I've decided she needs a female cayuga friend.. so when I find the a female cayuga.. would you like to name her for me?? in memory of Miricale xxxx
@dalsch .. Hey ur welcome, its a pleasure :D will deffo send you the vid of her ... I can just imagine the upset still there, to me losing any pet is soul destroying, but when you have mothered them from the smalliest babies they inbed theirselves deeper into your heart.. xxx
I am so sorry to hear this... I lost a duck to a psycho stalker bitch that poisoned mine, Skeeter recovered but her sister Jumper died in the yard. I found that something tried to eat her when she was dead, it was horrific :( I'm still quite broken over it. I feel worse for Skeeter than myself, her sister was her everything and she had been through a lot to have to witness all that.
@vvtheduckvv dude me and my gf fell in love with your ducks!.hated to hear about jumper.that person should be in prison who hurt her. it pisses me off just thinking about it.but your story has made us here more thoughtful to be more guarded about our two little 4 month old half mallards.and im sure its made ALOT more people have done the same.so i thanks for sharing jumpers and Miracles' story
@duckapostle Thanks! Skeeter really misses her. She doesn't like to go out in the yard alone and when I leave her there so hides. Poor thing is traumatized for life.
I was going to say "THANK GOODNESS HE'S OKAY SINCE MIRACLE IS IN OTHER VIDEOS" but when I saw the other comments, I immediately began to cry. :'( Im very sorry for your loss. I've been watching ALL your videos, envious of how much pets you have. When I grow up, Im going to be a vet, so I can save as many animals I can. Maybe even Miracle.
So Sad :( but very beautiful video and photos .... Accidents do happen amongst the nicest of people..... Be proud of yourself for every bit of love you gave to lill fella ... I bet theres theres millions of ducks that would be very jealous of the love ... I've just got a Cayuga duckling 2 weeks old, completely different personality to my other 2 ducks so much more relaxed and loving .. Thank you for sharing this video (RIP Little fella your in our hearts) xx
This made me cry! I have two ducks of my own and I'd be devastated if anything happened to them. Hopefully you're doing better now! I'm sure you gave Miracle an absolutely PERFECT life :)
I am sorry for your lose too. Do you have pictures of your racoon proof enclosure you could share. I have mine in a dog kennel reinforced with chicken wire on the edges they have a dog house they sleep in at night, but I have a tarp on the top and worry about racoons breaking through...
@gmullen4 That is exactly what we used for Miracle. It was a huge hard plastic dog kennel with the slots and corners reinforced with chicken wire. The door was a heavy typical door for a dog crate and we also put chicken wire over that because the square holes were kinda big and coons like to reach their paws inside. Our mistake was not locking him up the one night - thinking someone else did. You just have to remember to lock him up in the dog house at night. Take care
@blondiebabee022008 Thanks, Cayugas make excellent pets. He never bit and yes, it did follow me around some. But mainly followed Lacey, our shihtzu around because Lacey was his best friend. He would also keep my hubby company when weeding around the house - was very cute - he'd follow him and wait for bugs or whatever to pop up. He was a sweet little guy.
my 2 ducks died this morning.. we kept the cage securely tight and covered. but.. somehow a fox.. well lets just say i been crying all day. im making a tribute video now. trying to find the right song..
Very sweet tribute. I just got a Cayuga around Easter and he is the most precious thing. Never knew a duck could be so endearing. I'm so sorry for your loss. I am glad that you told your story though. I think a lot about how things will be when he's out of the house and how I will build my enclosure. It's very easy to think no predator will come in the yard. I was very laid back about this because I have a 100 lb. sheepdog protecting our yard, but now I know that's not enough.
i had 2 cayuga ducks and had got them over the weekend. and i was leving for school i see them. and i go what happend and she said it wasnt her. i got them from my niebor. the ithink how it happend they were hit by a car. they were probly getting worms.
I had to stop half way through because I was crying too much. I have several pet ducks, but one of them I have raised from a duckling. He is a Rouen. And he is my best friend. He lives inside with me, sleeps with me, travels with me. I would be absolutely devastated by losing him. Ducks are precious little angels, too. And my Buddy is more than a duck. He is a little boy with feathers and webbed feet. I can't bear to think of losing him. You have my sympathy for your loss.
How sweet - thank you. Yes, that little video does that to a lot of people. It's may seem weird that a duck can be such a part of someone's life - but I'm just an animal lover. In his short little life of 9 months, he touched a lot of hearts. I have more vids of him growing up - and you can see that Lacey, our shihtzu became his BEST FRIEND.
i wish i could have found your channel sooner. i was watching the videos on your turtles and by chance looked at an old video of Miracle and came across this one and couldnt stop crying.
im really sorry for your loss. i wouldnt be able to go throught the same thing i think it would be too devastating... :(
Thank you for your sympathy - he was very special. Thanks for the hug too. I have a lot of when Miracle was growing up and you can check them out also. You will see how he and Lacey (our shihtzu pup) were best of friends and how Miracle had become such a sweet part of our family.
omg...im going to cry...i have 6 precious swedish ducks... they are the best things. I am soo sorry to hear about tht. but he is in a better place...!
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. My son wanted a duck this year and I told him we can't have just one so we got two. I love them they are so sweet and beautiful. My female is especially colorful. I have posted some pics of her too. We live in Alaska without racoons but you never know what may show up. We are from Cayuga County in NY and I use to go fishing on Cayuga Lake so these ducks are extra special to me.
Thanks, I checked out your vids and love them. Miracle was a very special duck. Watch out for the foxes and coyotes. Make sure your babies are in a good sturdy pen at night.
Now that I have my cayuga duckling, I can't even imagine this happening..You made me hate racoons even more...
they're strong, one got in our squirrel trap and dragged it, and the whole cage, into the alley... Next time that happens, I'm killing it honor of all of the domesticated ducks killed by racoons!
Didn't mean for you to hate the raccoons - it's hard having a pet that can become 'dinner' for another animal.
I'm just glad that they drug him away and we did not have to see him. All that was left was some of Miracle's blood where he was drug up over the wooden fence.

that was a great video and im very sorry that you lost suck a good friend. i have a baby pekin duck (videos of him on my channel if you wanna see him) and i ordered him a diaper but its way to big and i know by the time i send it back and wait for a new one to come he wont fit in it so i'm just gonna have to wait till hes older. i was wondering what diaper you used for your duck?
Hi I have two of these wonderful ducks that live at the end of my garden. they are inseparable. Took us ages to find out what kind they were. Though I live near Aylesbury, in the UK, I have never seen an Aylesbury duck!
Yours looked exactly like mine. Sorry to hear that you lost him.
Yes, if you 'google' Aylesburry duck - you will see pics of them - they are beautiful. Miracle was a CAYUGA duck. They come from Lake Cayuga in New York. they are excellent pets--very quiet and very personable.
Thanks for the comment - he loved Lacey, our shihtzu dog - if you look at our other vids, you will see how Miracle and Lacey were inseperable (sp) - have a great day
Hi! I wasn't confusing Cayuiga and Aylesbury ducks - I do know the difference
In the 19th century the Aylesbury ducks used to be walked the 40 miles to London by 'drovers'. Aylesbury ducks were highly regarded for thier edible qualities. The drovers used to stay overnight in Inns, that had special pens for the ducks, and coated their feet in tar and sawdust to protect them from the effects of the long journey (poor things!)
I would never eat my two Cayuga ducks - I adore them!
Wow, you are right - 'poor things', I could never eat duck either. In South America - especially Peru, they eat PERUVIAN GUINEA PIGS - I have one - she's gorgeous - just cannot imagine raising them to eat them. Hmmmmm - I have a feelilng if I lived on a farm with more animals - I'd become a vegetarian - or just never eat meat--loving ALL animals like I do.
Hi, what we used was a HUGE dog pen that was totally enclosed except for the door. Over all the vents and the door, we attached heavy duty 'chicken wire'. That should work for the foxes also.
He was a gift for Easter last year. Didn't know what he was until he was much older - and saw how his tail curled up.
He bonded with Lacey - our Shihtzu - and if I would have gotten another duck, he would not have known it was a duck - he thought he was one of us. anyway - we don't have a farm - or I would have gotten more. He was very cool
Yeah, I googled a lot of info about them and researched. He almost died at 1 week. You can watch all my vids and see that he had outgrown all his little 'ponds'. We took excellent care of him, but it was just one night - too crazy and forgot to lock his 'raccoon proof' pen. That's what got him. :o(
Actually bread is supposed to be the worse thing for them. Our duck lived the good life - we ordered Duck Food from a company named Mazuri. Expensive, but with all the nutrients in that he needed.
Thanks for all your advice. but if you watch my other vids - you will see he didn't just have a HUGE bowl of water by his food, but a huge pool to swiim in and dive for his food.
I lost my little girle Squeaky she was incubated in my bra for 29 days and she was a muscovy white duck, and like you baby was so loved, only to be killed by a dog. so sad. I never had pics like you took. thank you for showing me my girls life. XXXX
You are welcome. So sad to hear about your loss. They do have some sweet personalities, and as you could see, he was the best of friends with my Shihtzu- but then again, Lacey is one special dog.

It was so sad when he no longer answered me back every morning. I would go out on to the patio and call him and he would quack back to me.
But that morning, there was no quack. At least I didn't see what happened to him. Those 'coons' carried him away in the night.

Don't feel bad, it brought tears to my eyes and anyone in my family that watched this.
God Bless

I know, sweetie, but whenever you miss him, you have this video to watch and remember.
He is in DUCKIE HEAVEN now splashing, swimming, waddling, and quacking - loving the sunshine and all the other critters

I'm sorry for the loss of Miracle. :( But you gave him a WONDERFUL life, and he loved you very much. Its not your fault, or your husbands.. and I hope that the pain has eased and sadness can be replaced with the happy memories you all shared!
