Another lie is "sow a seed" if you want a baby, to get married and if you want money "sow up" the seed ministry has made a lot of preachers billionaires!
I believe this is the one verse that best represents modern day tithing. The more important parts "justice, mercy..." we should do first and foremost - but Jesus goes on to say "without neglecting the former." So yes tithe... with a right heart. Matthew 23:23 "...You give a tenth of your spices--mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law--justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.
Why do believers so blindly accept that their pastor has a hotline to God.The born in the spirit movement seems to be riddled with dishonesty, exploitation, mind control and the power of suggestion. The idea is planted that if you leave bad things will happen and that tithing will bring you riches .Even atheists can be taught do glossolalia ie talking in tongues and put people into trance.Check out James Randi on and see how the flock is fleeced. You Steve seem refreshingly honest & sincere
I have been in many churches over the years & more & more are starting to teach the lie of tithing money. I was beginning to wonder if there was anybody left who hadn't sold their soul & twisted God's Holy Word for a few bucks in this life.
Give to support your Pastor if he is called by God but don't insult the Paid in full work of Christ on the cross by thinking you can pay for what Jesus already died to pay for. You don't have enough money to pay for it anyway!
Genesis 15:17 Describes the covenant ritual that God performed signifying his unconditional unmerited blessings to Abraham. God alone performed this ritual of the Covenant. Read Genesis 15:12 "Abraham was in a deep sleep".
This was a clear indication of a unilateral, unconditional covenant.
Put your pork rib down and quit watching television on the Sabbath rest (Frid. eve. til Sat. eve. do nothing but rest from all activity), then maybe you might come across as having some credibility when you push tithing.
It is a sad commentary on the body of Christ how little many Christians understand about the difference in Old Covenant law and New Covenant Grace (unearned favor).
Jesus and his payment on the cross is why God even looks twice at us. If you are saved, redeemed and born again God has already given you Free Favor. It is called the Dispensation of Grace.
There is not one New Testament Scripture to support Mosaic law-keeping of tithing after Jesus said Paid in full. Not even Matthew 23:23 because it was b4 the Cross.
Gal. 2:21 I do not nullify (void) the grace of God for if righteousness comes by keeping the law, Christ died in vain.
Gal.5:4 Declares Legalist have fallen from grace
Galatians 3:24 the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ that we might be justified by faith
3:25 But after faith has come we are no longer under a tutor.
You do not need a course in logic or critical thinking to know that Gal.3:13 (Declares) Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law by being cursed on the tree (wood=cross) for us. There is no way to be cursed by the curse for not tithing like the Jews did not do in Malachi 3 and redeemed from the curse. It is one or the other but can't be both. Logic tells me it would be the latest on what is written in the NEW TESTAMENT.
Galatians 8:6 Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness.
Galatians 3:14 That the blessings of Abraham might come on the Gentiles (non-Jews) through Jesus Christ that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Notice it does not say through tithe paying but through faith.
Galatians 2:16 "Knowing that a man is not justified by works of the law but by the faith of Jesus Christ.......by works of the law No flesh shall be justified.
The new era churches are nothing but family owned businesses. They push tithing, offering and thanksgiving because these are major ways the business makes money. To put it in perspective, imagine 10,000 brainwashed and brain dead idiots writing you checks as little as $100 per week! That is a tax free income of $1,000,000 weekly!!This is free money you do not have to work for, just trick, hypnotise, emotionally confuse some fools and you're a millionaire!!Any wonder why pastors are so rich?
Actually we give to help pay light bills, salaries, mortgages, and other expenses. The only thing we need to do to prove we love God is to "keep his commandments." If you love me, "keep my commandments." And giving (money) was not one of them.
I've studied tithing deeply and diligently for many years. My observation is that there are two sides to the proverbial coin! There are the nay sayers and the yes sayers. They BOTH have scriptures to back up their points. I have heard testimonials on BOTH sides. There are NUMEROUS testimonials of people who were at rock bottom financially and tithed and MIRACULOUSLY their finances turned around! Then there are those who tithed and NOTHING got better. Seems God is backing up both sides! But we
@daffydoug know that is impossible! God is not double minded! So here's what I'm doing. I'm now at rock bottom in my life financially. I'm BUSTED. I'm on unemployment. I'm going to start tithing NOW. After a reasonable time, if my finances impossibly turn around, I'll come back here and describe my experience and tell you to your face that God doesn't agree with your theology! But if I get deeper in the hole and get totally wiped out, I'll come back here and tell you you were right. Sound fair?
@daffydoug know that is impossible because God is not double minded! So here's what I'm doing. I'm going to start tithing NOW. If after a reasonable time my finances IMPOSSIBLY turn around, I'll come back here and post my experience and tell you God apparently does not give a hoot about your your theology. If I go under, then I'll come back and say you were right. Fair enough?
@daffydoug The only verses I've seen on the side of those who tithe are all out of context - especially if it was taken from Malachi 3. The beginning of the book tells you exactly who God was referring to - OT priests. If anyone does an in depth study they will see that all of Israel were not required to tithe, then why are NT pastors requiring everyone to tithe - even the poor? There were more than one tithe. Are NT Christians paying all those as well? Then ur still robbing God if ur not!
You Christians are so STUPID! Tithing is a LIE from businesses posing as churches. If the church is the people and the body is the temple under the new covenant then why are Christians lied to and told they are obligated to give 10% to the business? Why not do like the bible says and give to the widows and orphans and sick and those in need? You christians don't want to know the truth. Can you say "Laodicea?"
Thank you, Pastor Steve. I also have never heard any pastor teach on Mal 3:5
They also fail often to talk about Malachi I and explain to WHOM God is talking in that chapter. They just jump into 3:8-10 and then I hear Christians saying "I tithed. Now I am waiting for increase." God is NOT a vending Machine. I heard the same threats in bible study the other night. She said if we don't tithe we will end up cursed. My husband resented this and almost didn't want to go to any bible study again.
@maniatisa706 Small groups are usually better than what happens at the brick building anyhow. There is no such thing as "going to a church building" or "building the church building." (Acts 7:48-50) Your spiritual body IS A Stone of the ONLY Building of Christ (1 Pet.2:5), as is your husband, and will one day be part of new jerusalem, a communion, not a place (Rev21:2). There are no physical temples to build to him. There are no levites, levitical offerering (duet 12:11). Shalom
@1Mazzaroth, U seem 2 neglect the fact that Abraham only paid Melchisedec 1nce. He did not pay continually, nor did he pay any of his own wealth, he paid from the spoils of war, a babylonian/pagan custom @ the time. By ur logic, we should b paying Jesus Christ personally, as He did, yet, tithes r given 2 a church & pastor, this is inconsistent. Also, according to 1 Peter 2:9, we as believers r the Priesthood w/Jesus as our high priest. So shouldn't tithes b paid 2 us since tithes were 4 priests.
Take another look at Genesis 14. It says that Abram gave a tenth of the plunder that he got from someone else, gave his allies their share, covered his expenses, and gave the rest back, keeping nothing for himself.
Is that what the Church teaches today? If not, then the Church does not teach the Tithe as Abraham did without the Law.
The Biblical Tithe was food grown/raised in Israel, given to Levites, and used to feed poor Jews who couldn't provide for themselves (Lev 27:30-32, Num 18:21-24, Deut 26:12-15, Neh 10:37-39).
Any Tithe we give today would not match up with the Biblical Tithe, because we are not Jews living in Israel, growing or raising food, and not only Levitical Priesthood, but the Temple itself is gone.
Tithers love to focus on Malachi, but ignore what the rest of the Bible says about the tithe.
But they do not do as their supposed Savior did. They like to tell people that God gives material blessings, that you have to give money to get money - ignoring what Jesus said in Luke 16:15, that "what is highly valued among men is detestable in God's sight."
They claim that Jesus was wealthy (he who had to perform a miracle to pay a half shekel tax), and that all his disciples were wealthy (disregarding Acts 3:6). They claim to believe in the Bible but ignore what it says.
And Hebrews 7 does not carry the Tithe over into the New Covenant. It shows that Jesus (of the line of Judah, not of Levi), is still a Priest, a higher and better Priest than those of Aaron.
When you Tithe, you do not follow God's Word, you actually violate God's Word.
If Tithing was meant for us today, then Acts 15, where the Disciples in Jerusalem decide which practices the believing Gentiles should follow, would be the ideal place to put the Tithe. But it's not there.
1) Christ is a High Priest, not Levitical 2) Melchizedek was a priest, not a Levitical High Priest, but something different 3) (greek) Christ is in linear succession to Melchizedek, he is NOT after the "order" or "office" of the priest at Salem. 4) There is no Temple, and you dont live in Israel. And if you do, there are no Levites to support who preach Christ and do nothing else. 5) Muslims are also Abraham's seed, should they tithe as well? This is a different tithe
The High Priest Mekalzadec was a High Priest without the Law.
Tithing came through Abraham not by the law.
Tithing, High Priest and Priests came to the Levitical Priesthood by the law.
Hebrews 7:11 Perfection did not come by the Law of the Levitical priesthood after Aaron, so another priest (Jesus) rose after the order of Melchisedec.
@1Mazzaroth 1) Melchizedek served a different purpose. He was a keeper of Mt.Zion, for El Elyon. He was NOT a High Priest. Scriptures never say this, nor imply this. 2) Tithing did not come through Abraham. It is known to occur all over Sumer-Akkadia and the ancient near East. Abraham used a customary offering, a tenth of the Loot of War... his Increase, not his wage. 3) The tithe to feed the Levites is a national Torah for national, extinct Israel, like many (but not all) Torah.
@1Mazzaroth Read 7:11 in Koine-Greek. You've been duped by poor English translations, like the rest of us.
Hebrews 7:11 "Now affirming this in accordance, had perfection been through priestly Levites (this is how they received the rule/torah), why would they need another priest to step up in line of succession from Melchezidek - and not instead be taken out from the line of succession of Aaron."
That's what the greek says.
P.S. The "corruption" has nothing to do with this chapter
@KeyboardPacifist 1. None of what any of you are saying is heaven sent. Given by the Holy Ghost. 2. So this is all of you pulling scriptures together and believing you found answers to the bible. The devil knows that bible better than you and I 3. It takes a God sent revealations from God to reveal all of his word beyond carnel knowledge. 4. I have walked with him and he appears to me and shares with me his word. Peddle your mess somewhere else.
You can't answer anything I've stated above except to paint me as a heretic, a satanist, and a liar. You now state that you alone walk in the light (and not the others who have refuted your false understanding).
You say you have revelation and I have carnal knowledge. Yet, Christ anwered the devil with the truth of the word, not accusations, and Paul said that such accusations without truth are not a rebuke and not of God. If you You don't know His Word, you know a cult.
@KeyboardPacifist I am not against you. I am against what you believe. I condemn that belief and the words of that.
Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue [that] shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This [is] the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness [is] of me, saith the LORD.
I am exercising my authority over that word against me. Jesus also called Pharsees and saducees, snakes, vipers, hmmm
@1Mazzaroth So you are against what the bible teaches, except you have a nice lil pamplet and a nice website and a nice congregation to take away the responsibility of discerning doctrine with the mind the God gave you. No matter, God can use robots too. He uses the unrighteous to sow and the righteous to reap. So you may find yourself sowing and not know why, God knows this too. And you may reap and not realize you do so. God knows this too. You also have no idea why Christ said that
Another common church sacred cow I've written on is FASTING. Jesus taught on it, but BEFORE THE CROSS. Nowhere does Paul teach it as a doctrine in the epistles. Christians who depend on fasting to "empower their prayers" get their focus on what Christ has earned for them and try to add their own two cents' worth of suffering to impress God.
hopefully the church's hit squads will have mercy on us, being so few and all. i will keep spreading this truth. the war is far from over with the slick tongue of the beast at the the altar
You are only the 2nd minister whom I've heard make this statement publicly. Now I know other pastors and minsters and evangelists know it as well .. but I think maybe they are too afraid of what will become of their budget if they PUBLICLY admit it.
accurate theology is vital .. to all the nay sayers out there who fudge the lines to hold to false teachings and subvert truth of the Gospel of Grace - you are part of an apostate church ..
agreed we give because we love God gave us a choice Hevin or Hell and we make the choice give with your heart is what he likes now me I give the bigest bill I have in my pocket at the time asked
If you have a real-relationship with God, you would know giving him 10percent of your income is NOTHING, because it's not yours in the first place--if you can't afford to Tithe, you are living above your means; or either ungodly. Giving God only 10percent of your time is an insult. Wake/walk/fall asleep with him.
Give God 100percent effort, out of LOVE...and stop trying to short-change GOD with your pathetic offerings. He is a good God!
God does not need our money no more than He needs an animal sacrifice to atone for our sins. What God wants is for all men to come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Yes, God gave 100% & so did we when we recieved Him. We died & gave our lives to Christ & he gave us a new life. We are NOT "short-changing" God because we do not religiously give 10% under the Mosaic Law. Btw, under the official tithe in the OT, the tithe was ALWAYS food & it was always eaten in the Temple.
EVERYTHING you have is God's, so why not give him 80%? How about 90%? If you're real mature in your faith, why not 95% of your income? Get the point? Legalism always says more, more, more. Why not give because you're under grace, rather than a hardfast rule that you're under obligation to?
it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
@DivinelyGifted agreed. And nothing you said has contradicted what the video maker has said. We are in agreement. We should also agree that (as the apostles tell us) to correct a brother in love when they teach false doctrines and create an atmosphere of doubt in God's Grace and Love.. and create "insurance" policies. Tithing for the New Covenant People of God is misleading and false. We have obligations to give more. We have no obligation to buy into the "10% brick building tax"
Your on a narrow road my brother, Me and my family moved to a small town and we were persecuted because of this. We went to a church full of poor people, and we were giving hundreds of dollars in food regularly directly to the people because they needed food. The pastor got angry with us and preached a sermon against us giving directly to the people. he said that we are ordered to give to the church which we were doing also, and not to the people.
I am blessed and taken care of because God is my father. If one has a good relationship with God and open communication with Him ,He will let you know what He wants you to do. If you blow it don't worry about it He will give you many opportunities to get it right.
Thanks for your honesty here. I've been struggling with this one. Even some very good grace ministers still teach tithing as required, which just doesn't make sense. Is it Jesus alone or Jesus + tithing?
Tithing is only mentioned 2 times prior to the Law. The 1st was with Abraham. The 2nd was with Jacob. Both were one time events and not something that either faithfully observed on a regular on-going basis. Their instances of tithing cannot, in any way, be repsonsibly used to establish tithing as something believers are required to observe.
In all the bible, tithes did not consist of anyone's monetary income. Tithes only consisted of agricultural products and cattle. It's often argued that there was no currency in those days, which is false. In Deuteronomy 14:24,25 the Lord demanded that if the place where he commanded the tithe to be brought was to far to carry all the goods, they were to exchange it for money, take that money in their hand, go to the place God chose, and buy food, or even wine & strong drink, and eat & drink it
Jesus CHRIST's teachings were under the age of the old testament. Then HE ON THE CROSS said: it is finished, and the carpet was broken. :) Paul simply declared this in the New testament... :)
If you ask this question you are ABSOLUTELY out of track, and brainwashed. You are simply missing the point, and until you don't do your homework with a humble and teachable attitude you will NEVER get it. Sorry for being direct, but you are just another victim.
Another lie is "sow a seed" if you want a baby, to get married and if you want money "sow up" the seed ministry has made a lot of preachers billionaires!

Take another look at Genesis 14. It says that Abram gave a tenth of the plunder that he got from someone else, gave his allies their share, covered his expenses, and gave the rest back, keeping nothing for himself.
Is that what the Church teaches today? If not, then the Church does not teach the Tithe as Abraham did without the Law.
blueskunk12 1 year ago
@blueskunk12 As best I can tell, there is no Biblical requirement for us
to tithe... as was done in the Old Testament. Is there a requirement to
be circumcised in order to be saves? Sure hope not!

@imagrandpa

@blueskunk12 "they" have self-serving reasons
imagrandpa 1 year ago
@imagrandpa

@1Mazzaroth

@1Mazzaroth
KeyboardPacifist 1 year ago
The High Priest Mekalzadec was a High Priest without the Law.
Tithing came through Abraham not by the law.
Tithing, High Priest and Priests came to the Levitical Priesthood by the law.
Hebrews 7:11 Perfection did not come by the Law of the Levitical priesthood after Aaron, so another priest (Jesus) rose after the order of Melchisedec.
The Levitical Priesthood was corrupt........
1Mazzaroth 2 years ago
@1Mazzaroth 1) Melchizedek served a different purpose. He was a keeper of Mt.Zion, for El Elyon. He was NOT a High Priest. Scriptures never say this, nor imply this. 2) Tithing did not come through Abraham. It is known to occur all over Sumer-Akkadia and the ancient near East. Abraham used a customary offering, a tenth of the Loot of War... his Increase, not his wage. 3) The tithe to feed the Levites is a national Torah for national, extinct Israel, like many (but not all) Torah.
KeyboardPacifist 1 year ago

I dont expect you to believe any of this
1Mazzaroth 1 year ago
@1Mazzaroth
KeyboardPacifist 1 year ago
@KeyboardPacifist I am not against you. I am against what you believe. I condemn that belief and the words of that.
Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue [that] shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This [is] the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness [is] of me, saith the LORD.
I am exercising my authority over that word against me. Jesus also called Pharsees and saducees, snakes, vipers, hmmm
1Mazzaroth 1 year ago

Thanks, Pastor Steve.
You are only the 2nd minister whom I've heard make this statement publicly. Now I know other pastors and minsters and evangelists know it as well .. but I think maybe they are too afraid of what will become of their budget if they PUBLICLY admit it.
Thank you for your honesty!

Can I get a Holy-anointed-Bible carrying*witness?

DivinelyGifted,
God does not need our money no more than He needs an animal sacrifice to atone for our sins.
MartyJSwizzle 2 years ago 8
EVERYTHING you have is God's, so why not give him 80%? How about 90%? If you're real mature in your faith, why not 95% of your income? Get the point? Legalism always says more, more, more. Why not give because you're under grace, rather than a hardfast rule that you're under obligation to?

@DivinelyGifted So, am I short changing God if I buy food for the family
next door who is hungry instead of giving the money (money above what I
need to live) to a pulpit pimp who drives a Cadillac and lives in a mini mansion?
Actually, giving is giving and if it is required, not giving. Should a person attend
a church and not support that church? No way. It takes money for the preacher
to live and to keep the church cool.
What one gives to his church is very personal.
imagrandpa 1 year ago

Galatians 3:9 - "All who put their faith in Christ share the same blessing Abraham received because of his faith (NLT)."
We are blessed because of having faith in Christ Jesus, not by tithing!
MartyJSwizzle 2 years ago
Thanks for your honesty here. I've been struggling with this one. Even some very good grace ministers still teach tithing as required, which just doesn't make sense. Is it Jesus alone or Jesus + tithing?
Ronin1220 2 years ago
(that was a rhetorical question, I know the answer). :)
Ronin1220 2 years ago
Tithing is only mentioned 2 times prior to the Law. The 1st was with Abraham. The 2nd was with Jacob. Both were one time events and not something that either faithfully observed on a regular on-going basis. Their instances of tithing cannot, in any way, be repsonsibly used to establish tithing as something believers are required to observe.
tuberngubern 3 years ago
Tithe because you desire to tithe not because God has commanded you to tithe. We are under grace not law.
stopplayingchurch 3 years ago
