Mark O'Connor joined Dixie Dregs in early 1981. They were touring the Unsung Heros album. Marks first show with the Dixie Dregs could have been 21 April 1981 at University of Tennessee Chattanooga free out door concert. Steve mentioned something about Mark joining the band. Steve was still using his old ecoplex. He retired his Tele body, strat neck guitar in the late 1980's. Steve said it was fretted so many times, that is was not playing up to par something like that.
Uncle Steve has been a part of my musical family for many years, what i don't get is why he chose to retire that beloved tele/stratnecked humbuckered guitar, it had such a signature tone that none of the musicmans can ever touch, to this day it's my favorite axe, bless you Steve .....you are one of a kind my man
@strangher11 I too miss the growl of his old frankenstein telecaster,his musicman never had the same tone but Steve's incredible playing and technique would make even a cigar box guitar sound good.As someone who's been there since the late 70's,this is the best Morse(imho),this DD era.....

I saw the Dixie Dregs w/Mark O'Connor at the Brandywine Club in Philly. It was the Unsung Hero's Tour. They totally blew me away. Wow, what a show.

Are you sure this isn't later b/c isn't that Mark O'Connor on violin? And he didn't play with them until around 1980?
