There is a proper way to deal with issues like that but not taking the international law into your own hands. Hijacking ships is not the best way of dealing with the issue. The point is that there is no government in Somalia. It's a blown-up country with no centralized power. The UN (backed-up by the US) tried to do something 15-20 years ago, but got kicked out. It's basically a free-for-all piece of land.

They need small INCONSPICUOUS boats that are disguised as fishermen's boats etc. in order to get close enough and board a merchant vessel and take hostages. Also, international companies *illegally again* dropped for years toxic and nuclear wastes along their shores, affecting their health.

There is a proper way to deal with issues like that but not taking the international law into your own hands. Hijacking ships is not the best way of dealing with the issue. The point is that there is no government in Somalia. It's a blown-up country with no centralized power. The UN (backed-up by the US) tried to do something 15-20 years ago, but got kicked out. It's basically a free-for-all piece of land.
Indeed it doesn't justify piracy, but things has to be looked at with a perspective. I'm only reminding people that such behavior doesn't come from nowhere, and that the mean somali fisherman aren't more evil than any random person worldwide.
