no offence but in the newest updates notch made it so the water is slower and it dosnt get to the last 2 tnt's in time and blows the whole circut, also neither does the redstone for the "ammo" yes it is perfectly timed and you can do that but it needs to be arranged i have made a succesfull cannon in 1.0.0 and might be uploading a video in the near future

@unicornpower171 There's something weird about tnt actually.The one with 7(+1) tnt got a range on about 50 blocks far. But if you make the design smaller so it got 5(+1) tnt's, it will have a range of about 70 blocks. :) A nice way to save some tnt's. ;)

@Linnet5 Tnt will never destroy blocks when water are running through them, and the last tnt will be fired away in good time before the tnt gets the chance to explode! :) So you can choose any material you want(if you can place redstone on it). But if you want to be 100% sure that your cannon want blow up, you could use obsidian of course, but if you follow the instructions, cobble should do the job! :D
