  • So good at keeping the study double kick

  • Hmm actually his cymbal setup here was all Meinl Byzance Trads, 14" medium hats, 20" medium and 22" medium crashes, 22" heavy ride, 18" china

  • @thedrumminmaniac That china looks at least 20 inches.

  • @JuanRTE might be but i know its byzance bril or trad

  • @thedrumminmaniac Actually just his right crash and his hi-hat was Byzance Traditional at this time...

  • I hugged him at a gig. my life is now complete!

  • For those of u wanting to know his set up, he uses 14 inch byzance classics hi hats, 18in mb20 heavy crash, 22inch mb20 heavy bell ride, 20 inch byzance medium crash and 18 in mb20 china

  • great drummer

  • @bziswin111 "Haha I just got my DW 5000 double pedal (first double pedal) and I have the technical parts of alot of TDWP songs down, it's just my double bass endurance is kind of weak right now haha... I'm playing as much as possible to build my endurance at high speeds"

Dude, don't forget your hi-hat though! =D Keep up the work with the double bass. Always use a metronome when practicing and not just jamming. Make sure you have a clear difference between Jam and Practice. Rudiments! =D

  • Daniels a good/solid drummer, but seriously if you think hes amazing you have not a clue about drumming at all.

  • @HCMetalhead2010 Wrong, it's based on personal opinion.

  • @HCMetalhead2010 whoa... thats the worst youtube comment ive ever seen in my life... wow. simply wow.

  • @HCMetalhead2010 what makes him amazing is his fills. you really can't take that away from him.

  • So many flashing lights!!!

  • what the like spring thing he has holding his china? does it come as an attachment or as a part of the stand? im lookin to get my hands on one

  • @ThankYou4TheRice it's just an attachment, made by aquarian. just google "aquarian cymbal spring"

  • dang he's such a great drummer

  • @colenelly shut your punkass up haha, this dufe is nice. Period. Night nightt.

  • can u imagine playing a 2hour set where every single song has crazy amounts of double bass in it. id be fucking tired just after one

  • @Britex123 Yea it can get tiring but his doubles arent that amazing, someone playing at least 2-3 years could doit... Now Jordan Mancino's feet are amazing and anyones legs would be burning after 2 hours of his playing.

  • @HCMetalhead2010 I've been playing for about 1 year and 3 months. Can play every TDWP song I've attempted to learn. Really fun =)

  • @FUPAsteve Awesome man, some people progress faster/dedicate time moreso then others and like i said he not as great as people make him out to be. Wanna hear some gifted drummers look up Mike Johnston and Eric Moore, you will be in awe. haha

  • What inch is his mb20 rock china?

  • @xChristian93x its a 20'' inch byzance china

  • that crash sounds similar to a china. i love it.

  • Assistant To The Regional Manager =)

  • what kind of stand does he use on his china?is that a spring thats holding the cymbal?

  • @BoyoyongGrowee im pretty sure its an aquarian cymbal spring, there are 2 different sizes and are about ten dollars

  • @tardmeat253 so it's an attachment and does not come with the cymbal stand?anyway, thanks man appreciate the help

  • @BoyoyongGrowee right. instead of the felts, you put the spring on the stand and it has a little screw to tighten to keep it in place.

  • Comment removed

  • @purplevenom1000 the cymbal above his china is a byzance traditional 22" medium crash cymbal. It's so big that there is more of a washy sound from it. Probably the reason for why you couldnt tell what it was

  • Does anyone know what type of double pedal he uses?

  • audio sucks durms sound like crap

  • i am proud to say that i use the same cymbals as the most awesome drummer for the greatest band

  • whats that cymbal above his china?

  • Anyone who calls this guy "just another metal drummer" is an idiot.

His band is popular because they put in the work and took a few chances, like touring instead of going to school. Yes, there is some luck involved with being in the right place right time, but that's the business. Don't discredit his work because no one commenting on this video is even signed, most likely.

  • idk about yal

    but hes an amazing drummer

    for an amazing band

    enough said.

  • Guys he is playing a live show lol. He is focusing on looking good rather than getting it perfect. At least he can play well enough to not cock up the whole show so why are you guys so worried?

  • @sebastianjwalker live shows are supposed to be about it sounding good. not looking good.

  • @XxVinylsxX Metalcore = 90% stage presense

  • @sebastianjwalker well then thats just retarded..

  • Idc what anyone says. He is an amazing drummer.

  • that china sounds like annoying shit, but i love tdwp and i love daniel!!

  • so much intensity,,, so sick!!

  • definitely one of my favorite drummers of all time, Daniel's got some real talent, that shits not easy

  • he can play ...............good,but seriously this guy daniel williams is a great drummer and he can do al that on a basic set, he pick his equipment like a pro (meinl and truth). so mainly at drumming he is a genius. tdwp is awesome and epic

  • What is The name Of The Song?

  • @MoralesBastard "Assistant to the Regional Manager"

  • Whats the name of this song..?

  • @ZenBassMaster assistant to the regional manager

  • whats up with people saying he sucks live. he played everything almost perfect. i dont know if yall have ever tried to play double bass. that shit is hard. drums are hard anyways, trust me i play. but playing in a small venue thats loud and dark and everybody's going crazy. he has to keep perfect timing or else the whole band falls apart, besides the fact that his legs are going crazy. whatever i think he's great, esp for such a small kit. i do have other fav drummers, but hes still awsme.

  • Dan Williams is a great drummer, he just doesn't get the credit he deserves.

  • nice

  • everyone needs to shut the fuck up. dan is a good drummer just listen to the devil wears prada album he is actually good. every drummer has his sloppy moments dont crucify him for being tired.

  • @thegehrbear27 That's weird, this is a drum demo video, they should care.......

  • Daniel Williams is beast. If the world was going to end and unless for some reason they needed a sick as drummer to play a sick ass song, we have no fear! haha

  • Meinl endorsed him because they need people to buy their cymbals. No one around the ages of 14-18 listens to good drummers, so they have to endorse the ones from big bands, as rudimentary as their drum skills may be. It's really too bad.

  • @Colenelly Dan is a good drummer just because he keeps some of the stuff basic doesnt mean he is bad, sometimes less is more, its not all about blast beats and fills, Meinl endorsed him because he has good cymbal work, I bet if you were to enter a guitar center drum contest he would place very well. dont disrespect the guy he's written 3 albums, 2 ep's and is currently writing their 4th full length, what have you been doing other then being a poser and pretending that your a drumming genious.

  • @scottis16 He definitely wouldn't place very well hahah. Look up Mason Macias, he is in the band daytes, and there are a couple videos of him at Guitar Center drum offs on youtube. he's good. Meinl endorses him because all the kids love The Devil Wears Prada and want their cymbals to sound like his. I never said anything about blast beats. When I talk good drummers I mean Damon Che and Gene Krupa.

I never said I'm good at drums, I'm better at guitar. But at least I don't play this shit.

  • @Colenelly he is just playing to the music, this is his band he also has another band, witch is an indie band. Dan is just one of those guys who likes to make music sound right. I'll be the first to admit his stuff isnt hard, but its still creative. and he does have good cymbal work. Meinl isnt a company that just endorses you if your in a famous band, they have higher standards then the brand TRX.

  • @scottis16 They are in it for the money, just like TRX, and they see that lots of kids drum and lots of kids love The Devil Wears Prada. They aren't stupid. They know exactly what they want. He hits cymbals far too hard, and has very little emotion in his drumming.

  • @Colenelly yeah they want money but still they only get talented drummers, now your trying to say he has no emotions . Do you realize that hes in a metalcore band, He's a heavy hitter there is nothing wrong with that, plus have you heard the song texas is south, Dan has a part in that song where he plays a very soft with the melodic guitars, he uses his cymbals alot in it. Your just saying things you really cant back up, this is his style, alot of the drummers in the genre have unique styles.

  • @scottis16 I never said he has no emotions, I said his playing has no emotion. It's just 4/4 hard hitting simplicity.

There's nothing wrong with his playing... unless everyone thinks he's amazing because he's sponsored by Meinl cymbals. The only thing I have against him (nothing against him, only his playing) is that people think he's amazing, when he's just another metal drummer who got lucky in a band who plays enough breakdowns that kids love it and want to buy his cymbals.

  • @Colenelly He's good because he is a solid drummer. End of story. He is no matt greiner or Buddy Rich but he isn't terrible. You're assuming people think he is good because he is sponsored. Anyone with common sense knows if someone thinks a drummer is good because of a sponsorship then they are ignorant. I think he is good because he is a solid drummer and he is creative. For someone to be good they don't have to be a Buddy Rich. This kid can play and there's nothing to argue about that.

  • @Colenelly Alright thats a better reason, but he is creative, and on the newer stuff that they just relased you can tell he's improved alot, Dan has only been playing for 8 years, thats not long time but the reason why people support him is mostly because every new record you notice that the drums have improved drastically on every one. I feel he doesnt get enough credit especially because meinl put vids of his easier songs on youtube.

  • @Colenelly If you don't like his playing, why comment on the video anyways? He is playing what he loves to do and if that's good enough for him, then more power to him. Also, just because he is is another metal drummer, that doesn't mean he is bad. Like Mustdang said, He is creative. He doesn't have to be a Buddy Rich to be good. There are many reasons why kids love them too. They reach out to the youth at there shows. Believe it or not, there are kids that want his cymbals for the sound bro.

  • @DrXCranberries Because I know you'll answer. Yeah, sure he loves what he does, that doesn't make him a good musician by any means. Being "another metal drummer" does put you into a big pot of mediocrity. Unlike Mistgang said, he's not very creative. That's really sad that kids want his cymbals for the sound, because they sound like shit.

  • @Colenelly Hey, you have your opinion, I have mine. You may not like him, but something is working for him.

  • @DrXCranberries I agree... so why did you challenge my opinion? That something is fleet of kids that like breakdowns and simple song structure and don't care about creativity. When I say "creativity", I don't mean writing different sounding breakdowns, I mean writing music that expresses their feelings in a different way than 1.2million bands.

  • @Colenelly Well, first of, I like creativity. I also like TDWP. They portray a lot of energy into their music. They have fun with it. 1st off, I commented on your post because it doesn't make sense why you would comment on a video if you don't agree to it. you have your opinion, keep it to yourself and I will keep mine to myself. 2nd, it's not fair to say he is only good at drums because he is sponsored. That doesn't even make sense. He is a great drummer in my opinion. But that's just mine.

  • @DrXCranberries It makes sense. He's not as good as people say, I stated that, you disgreed. Keep your opinion to yourself if you're so concerned with "my opinion, you opinion". I completely agree that that is not fair to say. He is sponsored, and he's not a good drummer. He's sponsored by a drum company to sell to kids. If drummers got sponsored based only on skill, companies wouldn't even do a double take at this guy. You think great drummers see this guy and say "man we need this guy"?

  • @Colenelly Then why say it in the first place? Also, he is a good drummer. He can keep a beat. You don't need to be all flashy and crap to be an amazing drummer, as I have said before. Secondly he is a METALCORE drummer. That is the style of the music. Metalcore is mainly about syncopated drum and guitar rhythms and melodic guitar parts. He is doing good for the style he plays. Sponsorships are looking for skills in all different styles of music, not just jazz, or alternative, or stuff like that

  • @DrXCranberries I've heard this guy drop a beat on several occasions. And that's live, not just in a video on the internet. I think a professional drummer should be able to at least keep the beat. Yeah, I can see dropping a beat on the rare occasion, but if he has done it in front of ME on more than a couple of occasions, I think that is pretty pathetic.

  • @Colenelly I am not concerned with "my opinion, your opinion," I am just curious why you would even comment on a video of a drummer that you don't even like. If you don't like him, don't watch him. Easy as that. And i am not trying to start a flame war or anything.

  • @DrXCranberries Flame war? No one's flaming.

Because it's funny to read the comments. These kids think this is good.

  • @Colenelly Oh, no I know dude. I was just telling you I am not trying to start a flame war, that's all.

  • @DrXCranberries @Colenelly

lol. People arguing over the Internet are funny.

He's a good drummer for this genre in a popular band in this genre. Let's just leave it at that, eh? Meinl sponsors a LOT of drummers from a LOT of different genres at a LOT of different skill levels. Who cares. They get who they want.

Stop being cool and arguing over the Internet. It doesn't make you cool and is a futile approach to solving a dispute.

    kthxbai

  • wow he really sucks live haha

  • @NickIsAPlagueOfGod are you joking?

  • @Oriasis ooo ok thks man

  • @xfermaxx It's a Zildjian 6" Zil Bel. He's endorsed by Meinl but still uses that cymbal

  • holy shit those cymbals are huge...

  • @MRA7XMAD Yeah its the medium crash, I would deffinatly reccomend it.

  • I have the 22' in meinl traditional medium crash. GREAT STUFF! great for riding, crashing, and even jazz haha. Got a 9' zil-bel on it, sounds wicked... Also a Zildjian 18' oriental trash china, again good stuff... USE AQUARIAN CYMBAL SPRINGS! They double a cymbals life! Literally!

  • Comment removed

  • Easily one of the best drumming videos on the web

  • @hiimtucker dude check out aaron Gillespie...he's not like Dan but that dude is one of the most technical drummers ever! Check out Aaron Gillespie of Underoath - live in Nashville III

  • @Spy1950 He's not one of the most technical players ever, by any means, but he is a good drummer.

Check out Damon Che from Don Caballero.

  • @hiimtucker How so?

  • that little fill that he does starting around 0:28 with the end of the intro is absolutely sick!!! love the fact that he doesnt play the studio track exactly because he is a talented drummer :)

  • no not a splash or a bell he is talking about the china... trust me i have one
