Honestly I find Epee more entertaining than foil, Sabre is probably the most entertaining and I find foil rather ordinary but to each his own opinion.
Good Show! Personnally, I know someone in that competition, ... I really like the music, it co-insides with the movement of the fencers well. The whole thing is very well done, I have enjoyed it emenssly, and yes I can't spell,...I have watched it many times, espessially right before a fencing tournoment, it gets me all pumped up...:)...again, good job!
A non-electric stated set might be around 150 dollars. For electric gear, if you get the cheapest varieties (which break frighteningly fast) it's at least 200, even for epee.
Speaking of which, where's the sabre? It's so much more fun to watch..
You want to see skill?! Check out the Magiarotti fencing videos. Now! that's skill!!! I personally uploaded it, so you can check it out on my channel.
Can I ask what the point of the hopping is, though? (Sorry, 2-year casual American fencer) In the later bouts it didn't seem to be a problem, but a couple in the beginning were aweful. It just seemed like a waste of energy and an obsticle to changing tempo.
Also, if you ever put your feet that close together in a bout with most fencers i know(including myself), they would fully take advantage of it, your so off balence, and you are not going to retreat very quickly at all. It looks cool, but its very bad textbook fencing.
i can think of a few reasons simply off the top of my head. feel free to comment.
A. Epee is about hitting first. When you are in constant motion it could in theory be easier to suprise your opponent.
B. A still target is really quite easy to hit in most cases. Also, newton states that objects at rest tend to stay at rest. When you are still, it will take too long to move and react as opposed to if you were already in motion, crucial w/ hitting first.
epee is piss

Pointless though if not controlled.

Ive seen great passive fencers that have remarkable footwork and parrying ability. Im def a bouncer though.
