One of the hardest sounding and best Mc's and never had to resort to vulgar language, Rakim is hands down top 3 to ever do it, 1,2 obviously biggie and pac, listen to artists today and see how many of his verses are referenced in current songs, hell even wu referenced his lyrics

@wheela25 well to me personally, Slick Rick's style is untouchable.. i really like his tracks! and Snoop Doggy Dogg did a great job back in da day on Death Row (today he's bullshit). it's just my opinion, and i know many don't like Snoop, but i love his smooth flow.

there are so many good but underrated rappers like D.O.C. or DJ Quik.. too difficult to make a list of the best rappers, so this 5 up there are just my favorite ;)
