  • WHen rakim played "it's nothing", mannn this joint is classic

  • oh and and obviously Black Thought have you even heard 45 bars thats fucking crazy

  • one and two obviously biggie and pac? uhhh what? good music yes but in terms of technical profeciency nothing too special about either of them, Big Daddy Kane, KRS, early Snoop, hell even early Eminem is more impressive than either of them

  • For those who say they don't see anything unique about rakim... go listen to the actual songs and listen to the lyrics... he told truth, knowledge, and even more amazing he never cussed. One of the hardest sounding and best Mc's and never had to resort to vulgar language, Rakim is hands down top 3 to ever do it, 1,2 obviously biggie and pac, listen to artists today and see how many of his verses are referenced in current songs, hell even wu referenced his lyrics

  • Soooo true y'all!!!!

  • Sick.....

  • There's a reason Black Thought is in so many of these "Honors" performances...he knows and appreciates the trailblazers that came before him, and is a true scholar of hip/hop. I hope they return the favor and honor Black Thought, Questo and the Roots some day.

  • Black Thought and Talib would have done anything to be hype men for Rakim and those are 2 of the best rappers ever. Rakim spit this fire in the 80's. God forever.

  • i dont c whts so significant about ra, hes very good but not the best ever i dont find anything unique about him

  • @h1ph0pjunk1e You can start with his lyrics ..

  • is it kid capri on the turntables

  • cool, check schooly d i dont like rock and roll if you like old skool, like paid in full. without this fukkin circus of drama bullshit. paid in full origional and schooly d check diss before you tell me im wrong, old skool rules, not this drama queen show we see here

  • Too much bad blood between Ra' and Eric B....one is better than none!

  • They should have honored Eric B with him. They did it together.

  • @MisterBings exactly. the name is Eric B. & Rakim. 90 % success came from that era.

  • i am so ashamed to ask this but what is the song after microphone fiend... sorry guys im 17

  • @harrygim I think it's a unreleased track, but I would like to have it!

  • rakim u still sexy as hell

  • omg rakim was, is, n will always b da best. even if u put biggie 2pa lilwayne n emenim together still cant stand up next to him. even the young generation knows hes the best of ALL time no one n imean no one can take his, he desrves a kings chair. i had the biggest crush on him since i was a lil girl i met him once n i thought i died n went to heaven. how corney is that

  • @jessicapineiro why in the fuck would u put lil wayne with 2pac? are u insane?

  • Rakim yes real hip hop

  • Rakim the godfather of lyricism hes what Odin is to Asgard!

  • What was the name of the last song ???

  • @Steelaron "I Aint No Joke"

  • @BronxisNr1 Thanks a lot ;)

  • Kid Capri >>>>>

  • what i would give, to have been there

  • Rakim still got it.

  • don't look any further is the sample

  • @swswa221 Me too!

  • The greatest man to hold a Mic. Pure Genius.

  • Black thoguth has to be the best - and most underrated - l;yricist in the game

  • @TheMutiato25 "Paid In Full"

  • so whats the song that rakim debuts here?

  • WHAT IS TE NAME OF THE FIRST SONG?

  • didnt nas use this beat for h to the omo

  • He's GOD!

  • 4:00 Cube is like 'Damn man hurry up, cuz I gunna take a shyt" :D

  • ~classic.......

  • best rappers ever:

    5. Snoop Doggy Dogg

    4. Slick Rick

    3. Big L

    2. Biggie Smalls

    1. Rakim

just my opinion.. Paid in Full best album ever, Nuthin' but a G Thang best track ever.. man i wish i was born before '95 :D

  • @InsaneDrGreenthumb slick rick was the best storyteller, but idk abt top 5 rappers ever...i agree with everything except snoop, i dont think he was ever a great rapper, just a G...real rhyming and lyricism goes to ppl like eminem nas canibus big L big Pun etc!

  • @wheela25 well to me personally, Slick Rick's style is untouchable.. i really like his tracks! and Snoop Doggy Dogg did a great job back in da day on Death Row (today he's bullshit). it's just my opinion, and i know many don't like Snoop, but i love his smooth flow.

there are so many good but underrated rappers like D.O.C. or DJ Quik.. too difficult to make a list of the best rappers, so this 5 up there are just my favorite ;)

  • Thank god Rakim is still with us

  • Me and eric b and a nice big plate of FISH, which is my favorite DISH but without no money it’s still a WISH!!!

  • R.I.P. The real Hip-Hop

  • 1:41 to see the god MC

  • raekwon and styles p suck as hell rappin this

  • It's not a scenario, it's a church because they're singing GOD songs to THE GOD!!!

    LONG LIFE TO RAKIM!

  • what song is rakim rapping himself??

  • No Way in hell you don't got EPMD, Lyte, Bussa Buss, or Marley in yet!!!!!!

  • ice cube's like "daaaamn.....they remembered who i am? after this I'll never see another camera"

  • On some real, I'm gonna stop watching these VH1 Hip-Hop Honors if they don't honor Kool G Rap! I feel like they totally butchered Wu Tang's tribute. Wu's tribute should've been an ill 30 minutes. Like WTF! how you gonna honor Missy before Queen Latifah?? EPMD, Gangstarr, Pete Rock and CL Smooth, hell even Mobb Deep is due for their Honors. We all know it would take a miracle to get a Nas or Jay-Z tribute. Wishful Thinking lol

  • rip tupac and rakim since rakim doesnt rap that much no more

  • @jayd4ever dude you are sick

  • @stonekapolo what u mean

  • @jayd4ever what you said about Rakim.. lol

  • @stonekapolo i didnt mean it in a bad way.

  • @jayd4ever lol ok cool.. he's quite cos histime is up.. he did enough for hip hop, what he needs to do now is to sit back and watch the game. release a track here release a track there.. thats i appreciate what he did for hip hop.. he's legend, and on of the greatest rappers ever in the history of rap

  • @stonekapolo no doubt he is defintley deserves his place in my top 5 rappers of all time

  • @jayd4ever i co-sign that.. he in mine too

  • GOD MC.

    Nuff said.

  • uh gang starr honors epmd ????

  • I hate live music for hiphop, it sucks...should be 2turntables only..fuck

  • @djaps Hell Na!!! Too many damn turntables and fuckin tracks!!! Live is much better. REAL Instruments!!! Hell YEA!!!!

  • RZA

  • I aint no joke. Grammatically terrible, yet the best rap ever made. I can't stop smiling just thinking about how splendid it is.

  • Dont for get ultramagnitic mc and Kool keith,Stetsasonic and chubb Rock should all get honnerd

  • best rapper since Chuck D

  • this yr they better honor:

heavy d, kurtis blow, queen latifah, kid n play <--yes honor kidnplay i dont care they were hype as hell!

  • The title of fourth music?

  • I swear, Heavy D better be an honoree for the next hip hop honors, Kool Moe Dee and Queen Latifah are past due as well!

  • @jwh1999 true indeed!!!!

  • @jwh1999

If Kool G Rap hasnt he should be honored aswell.

  • @Rabbiz Well I think they gonna honor the whole Juice Crew with original members

  • @jwh1999

    Great decision.

  • @TxTrill214 Eric B & Rakim - Paid in full.

  • @TxTrill214 you mean Paid in Full?

  • the way ice cube is sitting there is just real cool

    because its the R.

  • what was the song that rakim did inbetween "microphone fiend" and "I ain't no joke"

  • @ilLcoKocTioN it is call "It's Nothing" from the Rakim ablum Live:Lost and Found

  • cool video...

  • Rakim= a true rap godfather that got this shit started before it went to hell and deserves full respect and honors.

  • Quote/my mind: Real Hip Hop is dieing out!

  • The best to do it you know when the ledgends know you joints word for word you that dude! The R your fav rappers emcee

  • @djones3448 : Man, ain't that the truth! Cube was in a zone! Rza and Gza were down word for word. Actually, when you listen to 'Follow The Leader', you can hear where Gza got inspiration for his style. The lyrical content of that joint is reminiscent of what we hear Gza, among others, spittin' nowadays.

  • Thanks for this. So excited to see him at rock the bells this weekend!
