You know what? I'am just going to make my own copy with parts from a couple littermaid megas that crapped out on me years ago. I've been using plain old litter and a big pan because until your idea came along I haven't seen anything in a good price range that I would want to mess with. I won't be doing any marketing, just something for myself. My cats don't cover the poop and would clog the heck out of the rake on the litter maid. If you ever get it to market, I think you have a real winner here
Have you considered using Kickstarter to get manufacturing of this funded? That way you could pre-sell the Litter Box, and make sure you got fully funded before starting manufacturing, while we buyers wouldn't run any risk (since we don't pay unless the project is fully funded).
@Fredpettersen I've heard about Kickstarter, but that implies that I actually want to start my own litter box manufacturing company, which I do not. My plans are to find a company that wants to manufacture the product. I will be working on finding such a company in the coming year once I have all of my ducks in a row.
I am really interested in this product!! I am on my third littermaid...I have tried other boxes however my kitties do not like being enclosed. Do you have an estimated time when this product will be out for sale?
I watched a video on the Litter Robot before finding my way to your video. My problem with the Litter Robot is that it's closed in and that's not preferable to most cats. I love your open design; I wish it was available now.
@krogg01 That's exactly why I invented this. One of my two cats simply wouldn't use the Litter-Robot. It was very clear she didn't want to go in a dark and cramped litter box. She took to the open design right away. While I was at it, I made some other pretty significant improvements too, especially relating to cost, manufacturability, shelf size (breaks down to something that can fit on a store shelf), but also better odor control, easier to clean, etc...
@mariebynon & @howlingserenity: My projections put the price at between $200 and $250 depending on the manufacturing process used.
@mariebynon: The dimensions are approximately 15" x 24".
@all: I'm hoping to push to find a manufacturer for this product soon (certainly by early 2012). Thanks for all of the feedback and inquiries everyone. If you feel you'd like to see this product on the market, your inquiries will only help show how much interest there is to any potential manufacturer.
@kittenboo913 It's probably going to be at least a year. I've been real busy with other things lately, so I haven't had the time to put into this that I need to. I hope to get back on this real soon though. I will say that the more people are interested, the more attractive it will be to manufacturers. I've started getting a major increase in customer interest lately, and this can only help. Thanks everyone for your interest. I really hope I can help make life easier for all us cat owners.
I loved it! I can only hope that it will be available in Romania soon too. Please keep us updated on the evolution of your project, I honestly love the architectural details, the deceivingly simple design, the technology, love them all! I hope I'll love the price as well, as most of the existing ones are restrictive, especially for someone with 10+ cats like me.
@MrZman202010 I just take a tall kitchen garbage bag and put the entire waste receptacle in it. When it's full, I just turn the bag inside out and throw it away. It's a cheap and convenient way to go. The only reason I didn't use that in the video is because you'll see the end of the bag sticking out the back -- I thought it best to demonstrate how it works and not draw someone's eye toward the bag.
@otangis One big advantage of the LitterLoo are that you can add raised side panels after your cat becomes adjusted to the litter box. Most cats prefer open bright litter boxes over dark enclosed ones, but the raised side accessories would minimize kick-out. The other big advantage is, although the sifting mechanism is very similar to the other litter box you mentioned, this litter box could be produced and sold for $75 to $130 less depending on the manufacturing process used.
I realize the open design is intended but some cats dig in such a way litter get sprayed outside the box. My first thought was that the machine would fit in a cabinet, but then realized I would need access to the left side, and the cat would need access to one of the other sides. Maybe it would make sense to empty the box from the side (facing the camera)? That would be the door side of most cabinets, and a cat could enter from that side as well.
@UyLuv84: I'm still working on bringing this product to market, but I can tell you that it's easily cleanable with an old sponge. Since it's not covered, it''s easy to clean the inside. You could also take the entire upper unit outside and hose it down if you preferred.
I think there'll gonna be some wastes on that side later on. Especially when the waste is softer. Is there a demo of this in action with live cat & about 1 week of use?
@retro1one No, I'm afraid I don't have a video of that. I can only say that after two weeks of use, there is no waste stuck to anything. Clumping litter clumps pretty solid after 7 minutes, and then the clumps are rolled around in dry litter, so there's really no wetness allowing them to stick. About all you see is a slight film of dust after a few weeks.
@retro1one I have one cat, and I can easily go two weeks, and I could probably go three. Unfortunately, it won't feed your cat or make sure it has water -- but at least a cat sitter doesn't need to deal with the litter box, which is usually the biggest turn-off.
@retro1one It's probably not going to be on the market for at least a year. I got the patent about a year ago, and I've been fine-tuning this prototype to demonstrate its effectiveness and manufacturability. If you'd like a little more history, you can visit the litterloo web site where I describe what other kinds of litter boxes I tried using that didn't work, and why I ended up having to create my own that did.
Where can I get one and how much does it cost?

seems like the most simple and better design that i seen.

You might sell the plans, and possibly the assembled and programmed electronic circuitry, so people could build their own...

@LitterLoo I recommend doing the container so that air can't get out of it because the stored shit will always smell
RubenMTristan 1 month ago
@RubenMTristan - Yes, that was one of my primary goals was a tightly sealed waste receptacle. All I ever smell is clean litter.

what the price on it? it seems like a well spent litter box
howlingserenity 4 months ago
I would pay up from 0-200$ If it works well for big cats.
My cat thorne is about twice the size of a normal cat!

This I'd buy instantly. It does eliminate all the draw backs of the Litter Robot.
And it does look great! I really love the design. Good work!
