  • I really like this one so much!!!!!

  • The Rainbows were formed by a group in high school in Washington, D.C. They sang at local talent shows, parties and "cabarets". Some people who came out of the group were Jessie Belvin, Billy Stewart and Marvin Gaye. This was the first up tempo Doo Wop Rythum and Blues. They would pack auditoriums and I was there.

  • AHHHH yes...Doo Wop at it's best...LOVE IT!!

  • First vocal group harmony record I ever collected. Great tune! Great 'doo wop'. B side 'Evening' also a good one. Their 'They Say on Rama another terriffic tune.

  • @bronxbum I thought "Minnie" was better.

  • Oh my gosh! Love this sound! So uptempo...and fun!!

its got me dancing and singing here at home!!!

Wish i could sing like these guys do...and so many others! What fun !!!

  • It is fun and was fun! I clearly remember running to the Record Store, buying a record for 69 cents coming home & just play the same record over & over until I learned all the words. Then, I'd stand in front of the mirror, a pencil was my MIC and I would sing away. I always thought I was better than the record until one day I recorded myself then I suddenly toned it down so know one would hear me. Great music, they are fun my friend!

BTW, thank you for your comment!

  • @dowopper51 I would give everything to have such memories!

  • I can't get over how much I love this song.

  • I know what you mean! When I first found this about 40 years ago I wore it out. Funny thing, I also had Shirley by them on the same label, at the time I didn't care for it and stashed it away in a box of records. Somewhere along the line it's long gone. Turns out, Shirley is now the high dollar record, high 100s. Anyway, I also have "If You See Mary Lee" nice take off, same group along with Shirley plus a few others not as nice in MP3 I can post, let me know.

  • So great!

  • Oh yes, thank you!

  • If I can give my opinion, I must say that this is my all-time favorite up-tempo song. Great!

  • Fantastick.Thanks R...

  • Ahh, anytime!

  • By the By is this group that featured Marvin Gaye? I read somewhere he was part of the rainbows before the Marquees and his stint in the Moonglows and the Dells.

  • Hmm, the Marquees? Is this the same group who did, Who Will Be The First One? So much to learn, this is what I love about Youtube. I'm sure some one will chime in and fill us in, I hope anyway?

  • Marvin Gaye was indeed a member of this group, but I don't know if he was singing on this session. Billy Stewart & Don Covay also came out of this group, from my understanding.

  • @57Will Gaye,Covay and Stewart were not on this record. The Rainbows didn't make a lot of records but did a lot of club dates and as far as I know are still active.

  • Yeah man!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great post. Damn, what a song. One of the first doo wops I fell in love with.

  • Thanks, but sorry PJDooWop, I fell in love with it 1st and married the record! LOL Hey, did you ever have any luck with Demilles lead singer?
