That tight framing was not by choice. I was in the crowd outside the packed tent, shooting down the center aisle, and she was all I could get, without constant obstruction, between the heads (and "lovely", but inconsiderate, wide brimmed hats) of the herd surrounding the low stage. If you watch my videos of Marsalis, Harry Allen, Joey DeFrancesco you will see how I normally frame the group on stage.

Funky..Right?!?!

I swore it was Wayne Shorter playing on the sidelines until I heard the names at the end and then listened to the Hermeto Pascoal original. Reminds me of the best of Weather Report which was so popular in the 80's Jazz Festival scene with Moreira and Corea. 

I got Wayne's autograph a few years back in Philly...
