To Hankerone1,the title means,I have two loves. To thecritiquevirtuoso,I think your existence is highly overrated.Paris is,& always will be,the most beautiful city in the world.Your ignorance is profound.I'm guessing you're sitting there watching Jerry Springer, smoking, eating microwave burritos, with your ball cap on backwards. This Frenchman is telling you to keep your idiocy to yourself.
Yes--because France is the center of everyone's "travel-brosure universe." You call me ignorant because I find Indonesia's Prambanan temple or Copenhagen's Nyhavn more interesting than some ugly 100+ year old tower in the middle of Paris? Well this American is telling you to fuck off.
Thank you for producing the most beautiful music I have heard in years. It truly is amazing and truly a gift to have in my life. You make everyday easier.
Fell in love with Madeleine Peyroux in, yes, 1997. I am so glad to discover others love her, too. For so long, I was always met with, "Who", when I mentioned her.
I just discovered her in a store. I was testing some high quality speakers for my living room. I randomly chose a CD and I stayed in the test room for one hour and listenned to the whole album. She has an amazing voice
@thecritiquevirtuoso I think that you get really bored that is why you think that someone would pretend to a French one, and I can tell that flofloriano is French just by his writting because I am French as well. And I think you are a little arrogant to say that paris is overrated, take time to discover a city and its people before judging.
I'm not arrogant, I just think that there are better places to be in than "everyone's favourite" Paris, France. I'd rather be in Indonesia or India than in Paris.
Thank you for posting this! Really great pictures from Paris. I love this studio version of the song. I saw Madeleine in Montreal at the Jazz Festival. Unfortunately, she sang a very jazzy version of this song at the end of her concert, and I did not enjoy it. This is my favorite version still.
Hey, I’m a young artist, & I would really appreciate it if everyone would check out my cover of Michael Bublé’s “You’re Nobody till Somebody Loves You.” Although I’m knowledgeable that Michael Bublé was not the first to record the song, my version was inspired by his rendition, nonetheless. I promise you that you will not regret giving my version of the song a listen, & it will truly knock you off of your feet! So please listen & enjoy! Thanks!
@jenny40970 Hey Jenny. Glad you liked this. I caught her in concert - one of the best I've ever seen - at Bass Hall in Fort Worth. But now you've got me hooked on Mille Lykke. What a performer; what a nice voice. Unique style. Thanks.
Jean-Paul,, for you are gone. i will alway`s love you. thank you for giving me PARIS, and showing me the true feeling, and soul of life. as long as i live so will you. my heart still hurt`s,, and my soul is lost. R.I.P. my Love,,
i love this song but i dont understand it, its beautifull i wish i knew what she was saying I just discovered her today its on the movie from paris with love
got a room with a comfy couch or sofa, a glass of wine, a nice warm fire in the chimney, inside a warm house in the winter, and playing this song to feel all relaxed
@truekizan I love that it's so beautiful it just takes you to that place this is definitely my all time favorite music Jazz is the best and this woman is incredible
The French comes easily to Canadian Peyroux and she gets right inside this song. Bluesy interpretation with a lovely, slightly lazy, gentle swing. Nice job.
i watched her on Austin City Limits on PBS and i kept missing her name, they are real bad about that, and finally i cought it but it only stayed on for like 2 seconds, i'm glad i was able to spell her name properly =)
this song was originally sang by the late Josephine Baker who made her carrier in France in the mid 1920s...she was black which explained why she expatriated to France.
I suppose the French would rather be speaking German? You'd think there'd be ^^some^^ gratitude & less attitude.
I suppose the Frenchies who are snobs would be stepping down a peg or several had we not saved them, but have forgotten or never knew their history. Or perhaps we stupid Americans should just keep our tourist dollars here at home? I came to this page to hear the beautiful Madeleine and see this bull from a pompous ass.
First of all, I m not French, secondly, I don 't really care where your dollars will be spent. Try a coca-cola and a "big mac", you will love it, i m sure.
What I said, is that the video has nothing to do with this song. Just photos of a tourist, and stupid ones. The guy who made even put a photo of two cops! unbelievable...
@QueenZelma - Shup the Fook up. The french helped the amercans in the english and amercan war otherwised this country would be divided and english pound , roastbeef and yorkshire pudding would have replaced turkey at thanksgiving, they would not be a declaration of independence and the blacks would still be slaves and queen elisabeth would be ruling the american kingdom
Man, I want to go to Paris so BAD, especially after watching this video (and listening to the beautiful song playing behind it)! I didn't get to go with my French class when I was in high school because my parents wouldn't let me, but hopefully one of those days I'll get to go.
Awesome. I just discovered her today while listening to XM Radio. Her style reminds me of 8 1/2 Souvenirs (waves to another Austinite). But of course... the French-inspired songbird!
And a wave back to you. Don't cha love those Austin nights with KGSR-FM, Sixth Street, Hook 'Em Horns, the Colorado River, Blues on the Green, Barton Springs, Antone's, Hula Hut, Dazed and Confused, and all the other things that takes you back to the Hill Country? Ur right on with 8 1/2 Souvs.
Glad you like Maddie. She was at SXSW this year. And if you're not doing anything on Tuesday nights, check out the great new guitarist/singer at the Driskill Hotel. Even Jimmie Vaughan goes to hear him.
I love that song, it takes me back to Paris soooo badly... to a French Bakery and the metro stations... the charming Parisians (yes, charming!) and the Oranginas in Summer
I'm returning to Paris in September. Do you have a favorite restaurant or place you can recommend. The highlight of this trip will be going to a Diana Krall concert at the Olympia Theater Music Hall.
This is wonderful. I appreciate the Billie Holiday comparisons. Not many out there who can duplicate that voice, and this girl does it very well......not to mention she adds her own style to it.

ana1977, thank you for correcting my mistake that stated Josephine Baker wrote the song. You are correct; I was wrong. Thank you for watching it and for your message.
