i was just benchmarking a few 8800's 1 was a normal 8800gts 320mb 320bit one, then the 512mb one but mine was from pny and a 768mb 8800gtx and the 512 alpha dog one beat the gtx by about 4 fps on a crysis benchmark

since the fan didnt work propperly i was thinking that it got overheated or windows stopped working, and had to be reinstalled. but since i am able to start in in safe mode, i doubt that. hes saying that he did not change anything at all. the last time it worked just fine was very late one night the next day, it was loading but after the load screen when starting the computer it crashed. if you got any knowledge about this please respond. trolls will be ignored.

hello fellas, my brother got one XFX GeForce 8800 GTs grafic cards in his pc. i know for a fact that the fan have not worked properly, because it was filled with dust enouth to block the fan completely and in last week his computer crashed, and now im sitting on it, in Safe mode. on the screen i got alot of grafic failures, so i know for a fact that somethig is wrong with the card, and it must be replaced. but it wont start without safe mode. it starts blinking different colors and wont react -

@MOZZWIGAN I just grabbed one of the standard Alpha Dogs from ebay for $39 to upgrade my 7800 GT that would not run Black Ops at all. Total slide show framerate until I installed the 8800. It runs great now! It also made MW2 look even better.

@krullexneo Oh, just because your GainWard Ge-Force 8800GT 2GB GDDR3 edition has 2GB of VRAM, that extra 1GB of RAM doesn't play a huge role anyways since just 1GB of VRAM is enough for most modern games today.

There are several cards in the 9000 series that your 8800GT can't outperform, the 9800GTX, 9800GTX+, and the 9800GX2. Your 8800GT doesn't even come close to a single 8800 Ultra, so I wouldn't even bother against the 9000 series.

I bought the 1gb version (xfx geforce alpha dog 8800gt),great card for under £100,the only problem was that the fan was scraping against it's metal casing,so i just loosened the screws on the fan casing,thankfully that stopped the fan scraping against it's metal casing.Runs Crysis well but slows on top settings.

with the same PC i've had Nvidia GTX260^2

and a Ati Radeon 4850...and until now, it's the same :P antialiasing in nvidia is better i guess, but same effects and lights and stuff. There are some liiittle issues with Ati but i just changed it cause the physics...Both are fine for me...tho years ago when the 9600GT was out, the Radeon were the best cards. Now is just a matter of Physics or a bit less money :P

The HD 5870 ($325) is twice as affordable as the GTX 295($530) and the GTX 285($300) while defeating the the GTX 295 by 20% and the GTX 285 by 60%.

The HD 5870 has 2.1 Billion transistors, up from 975 million on the RV770, and 1600 Shader processors up from what I assume is 800 on the RV770. The HD 5870 comes in 1gb and 2gb versions of GDDR5 which runs stock at 5.2Ghz, and has a core willing to surpass 900Mhz.
