  • This is the 99%.

  • Wow! I never really knew how powerful this song is! It encompasses agreat swathe of humanity. If only more could actually be inspired by its message!

  • I wonder if Vi Subversa is still alive. I saw the Poison Girls in 83 and she looked really old even then.

  • @DoctorDoBuggerAll

She turned 50 in 1985. Mathematically, she would be nearing 77 by now. Maybe Wiki could solve that problem.

  • @craigbeasley1

Ahh, I suppose to a young kid that I was back then, she just seemed old to me. If she's about 71 now, then she's got a good few more years in her yet! Hope so anyway. Cheers.

  • @craigbeasley1

Sorry, I meant 77 not 71, half asleep again.

  • @DoctorDoBuggerAll

Can confirm Vi is very much alive and well.

    poisongirls.co.uk

  • Anarchys a varied concept whether "activist" or not like Punk its a mentality and knowing what the truth is about greed and rich and poor-Divide and Conquer and rest of policys to enslave to make millionaires billionaires..Good to see young people tuning in, surrounded by apathy and selfishness, i got this when i was 13 still a good song 30 years later. Whoever you vote for Gov wins.

  • They tell us they want peace but they wont fight for it....like it will just fall on to their lap whilst they meditate.

  • now if we could only get 108,000 to unite and fight back,we would be a force to reckon with, cheers from canada-stand up and resist

  • What if you believe in anarchy, but you arn't an activist? Still an anarchist?

  • I love this song but it's the only poison girls song I really like.

  • we already have anarchy

  • anarchy doesn't work, but who cares, it's already here.

  • anarchy doesn't work, but who cares, it's already here.

  • riot fetishism is a classic cliche. Coppers are there to take that steam out of protest. The rioters feel happy the cops get over time , everyone is satisfied.Anarchism failed in spain and that should be a starting point of understanding, instead it is romanticised by those with no stomach for realistically loking at changing society. Angry and working class fuck the left and right.

  • with facebook and twitter ,persons unknown almost do not exit, sadly ,how did she know almost 30 years ago what the future would be like .scarey!!

  • glad to see all the views, ausome song, last summer it was at 60,000,it shows were still underground & still here,so lets unite & fight back before its too late!!!!!!!! or is it?????

  • This is a work of GENIUS!!! Cant wait to watch this again and again.... Inspiring...brilliant

  • @maxprevious Just saw this today and I 100% agree - fantastic piece of work, when you think all the dross on Youtube half the time..

  • One of my ALL time Favorite Songs ever. Period.

  • She sounds like a prophet.

  • In continuation of the last comment, I think this song is also so powerful because she's basically calling everyone out to break out of their roles and unite to change society and the system that both runs and runs off of it.

  • Whenever I hear this song I think about how the average person goes through life and their dreams and fears are hidden by the roles they are forced to hide behind. In the middle of all these stupid roles, people develop prejudices against people they don't even know just by their appearance. That's why she describes so many people and at the end she says "flesh and blood are what we are, flesh and blood are who we are, our cover is blown" Most powerful song I've ever heard.

  • I listen to this song on my way to work it gets me thru the night shift and makes me wish I'd have stuck to my morals when I was younger, still a veggie tho.....

  • God damn this song feels good after the shitty day I had.

Nothing worse than seeing a grown man having to bury his son, and try to hold it together.

  • grow up hippies, you need to listen to the song full blast, pissed up or drugged up then you might get it,

  • grow up hippies, you need to listen to the song full blast, pissed up or drugged up then you might get it,

  • Why the picture(s) of Stalinists in this slide show?

  • What a message

  • the dog likes this tune

  • thanks akeron - this bit of info was lurking in the back of my mind but I couldn't remember it.... thansk again. Am currently trying to educate some eastern european punks that thatcher was a twat - they hold her in high esteeem as 'she helped them smash communism' as ever, one man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist... :)

  • humans will not change.....mother nature will restore & sooner then you think.

  • THIS SONG MIGHT NOT BE ABOUT PUNK BUT ITS ONE OF THE BEST PUNK SONG EVER I THINK,SMASH FASCISM,SMASH CAPITALISM.

  • it all changed with the poll tax riots...instead of "us" all making a point be it peacefull or forcefull...them twats on that poll tax riot changed everything when they started "looting"...just changed "the people" from those with a serious beef into criminals and thieves....

you aint got no soap box to stand on when the box is "full of shite"...fucking shame!!

  • this video has nothing to do with the punk back then its makes no sense

  • @mediattackrecords it doesnt make sence to you cause you dont think very hard,do you really know what this song is about?????this is one of the best punk songs of that era,you probley think gg allen is the god of punk ,i feel sorry for you.

  • It was called Dial House xxxKINGFROGxxx

  • anarchism must live

  • I cringe everytime I hear the Poison Girls. I just can't get past the vocals.

  • @Loobs666: They weren't as educated as they thought, since the statement "property is theft" refers to the claims of the capitalist class to private ownership of natural resources and the means of production and distribution. It's not an excuse to steal your poor comrades' personal stuff.

  • Infact.... just love Anarcho-Thieves.... and Old women who sing like Phlegmy!

  • I saw this bunch play in Bradford (at the brilliantly named Sweatbox) back in 1981....and somebody stole their guitars. You gotta love Anarchists....what was the first thing they did?????? Ring the Police LMAO! The coppers nicked the tea-leafs just down the road in Leeds btw, and the 2 kids that stole the guitars said.... 'All property is theft!' You gotta love educated thieves! ;-)

  • i love this song!! debbie harry the queen of punk? I THINK NOT!

(even the fact that there should be a queen of punk is quite ironic)

    im a twat..

    anyway.. <3

  • when i said get off your arse ..its to you people sitting infront of your pc.

thinking a tick in the right box will stop things.......get a life..

  • i don't know why, but this is beatiful.

  • like crass didn't they live out in a house in epping forest?

  • hey guys , do you lot ever have any fun, always whining about something, moaning, allways picking on someone , you lot are the fascists, enjoy life its very short, i bet most of you anarchists took your dole cheques,

  • get off your arse.

  • u talking to me?

  • Go to 'information clearing house' for the real news - and spread the word.

  • This song - so playful

  • punk isnt dead its gone back to were its suppose to be in the underground

  • I saw this band a couple of times supporting crass,in edinburgh, thought they were great at the time.

  • great song & band - saw them supporting Crass around 1980 - skinheads pretty much ruined the whole gig though!

  • Great upload. Thanks for the memories.

  • 0:36 /cheer

For those who didn't already know, Anarchists and other political dissidents were held in UK prisons during the Thatcher era without ever being charged or tried. They were dubbed "Persons Unknown". Crass and co. threw a bash to raise enough money in order to hire lawyers etc. to represent and ultimately have these "Persons Unknown" freed. iirc

  • @Akheron80

That's not quite right. They were charged with conspiracy to cause explosions (or something similar) in collaboration with 'persons unknown' which is a term used by the Police and Courts - usually when they can't actually prove that such persons actually exist.

  • @adeworks Not quite right? Isn't that the gist of what I wrote? You just ellaborated a bit more on details. "To add to your comment" would have been more appropriate. But it's cool. Also YOUTube felt it necessary to remove my original comment. Who knows why, there's nothing obscene in it. 'Persons Unknown' were secret prisoners mostly anarchists. Look it up. We in the US hold people in this manner to this day, they even have their own special part of an island.

  • @Akheron80

You misunderstand. The Persons Unknown were not secret prisoners. The Persons Unknown were never found - as they did not exist!

  • Comment removed

  • @timmy1991991

Punk was not a fashion, it was a movement a means of standing up for what you believe in. So long as only one person has thier own beliefs, thier own thoughts and ideas punk will live.

  • it WAS a movement. but it died after six months when people started to wear RAR badges, and went on meaningless protest walks. and yes, musically there's still punk. but come on, there's no rebellion which the government fears. only lowlife punks with too much time on their hands.

i also love the fact that you have given me -6 thumbs down. it only shows how much you try to cling on to a cause lost long ago.

  • "They won't change nothing with their fashionable talk

Their RAR badges and their protest walk" is this where you got part of your reply quoting lyrics from crass "white punks on hope"?

  • yes i did. they stated my exact thoughts in two lines.

why, is using someone else's words to make your point non-rebellious?

  • @timmy1991991 Sorry Timmy not enough time on my hands to continue this. Chill out and dont take things so personaly.

  • it's okay, mate, i just want people to stop saying that. it makes you look like an idiot.

  • @timmy1991991

well there's always going to be people who simply don't understand what thinking for yourself means but that's why you gotta show them the way

for all those who do it's still a movement and it's still true

  • that's the most hypocritical thing someone's said. ever. "well there's always going to be people who simply don't understand what thinking for yourself means but that's why you gotta show them the way"

showing someone "the way" is just the same as putting your opinion upon them. thinking for yourself can't be provoked, it has to be learned by someone's self.

which by my recollecting,no-one truly has.

  • Its a part of learning that every human should utilize...if left to your own devices as a child you wouldnt have made it long enough to argue about the validity of revolutions that have passed, and those that have yet to be seen...put your head back in your hole, nothing to see here...everything outside your tiny little world is bullshit

  • okay, give me one example of someone who thought completely influenceless from any other person. then you may have a valid point. go on, try it.

  • There is not a living person on the planet that hasnt been influenced by another. You learn shit from other people...period.We are all influenced by other peoples "ways". Did "someones self" teach you everything since your mother shit you out and left you with your "baby skills" and knowledge to survive? Fuck no! You learned how to wipe your ass from other peoples ways, or you payed very close attention to someone shitting around a baby all fuckin day.Maybe both?Perception does require duality.

  • @timmy1991991

are you kidding me, you can open someones mind. that's not hypocritical at all i'm not talking about brainwash

  • @DeadTime34 How can you possibly open someone's mind without putting your own shit in there? And if you don't put your shit in it, he'll get it somewhere else.

  • @timmy1991991

well of course any human contact brings influence that's unavoidable, it doesn't mean you can't help people think for themselves.

you know, helpful guidance without trying to control their lives. it's possible. there are honest people out there.

  • @timmy1991991

i think you're focusing too much on the idea of absolutely no outside contact, which if it existed would be stupid. no man is an island.

and yea opening someone's mind you're obviously gonna be "putting shit in there" but that doesn't mean they can't mull it over and think about it for themselves. i mean isn't that the whole point?

  • @DeadTime34

Well yeah, but any idea you have is one you built up from other ideas from other people, who did the same with people before them. and so on. The point I'm trying to make is that about a year ago(!) you said you should guide people the way to have them think for themselves. But how can anyone think for themselves if they need someone alse to help them?

Some people are just not meant to that. I know I'm not.

  • @timmy1991991

yea i dont really check youtube much but that's besides the point, but what i'm saying is there's no way as a human being you can avoid outside influence on your life, it happens from the second you're born, you're raised into a certain culture and lifestyle and it sticks with you for the rest of your life whether you agree with it or not. i'm just saying even though influennce is always present people can still think independently, and sometimes they need help seeing that.

  • @DeadTime34 NO I agree iwth you, On that you can't live an influenceless life. However, telling/teaching someone to think for themselves is like giving the order to ignore all orders. Which is a major paradox. And makes you a hypocrit, which i'd need several pages to explain, seeing asyou didn't quite see my point. But apart from that it also makes you sound incredibly self-righteous. Which is the most off-putting think in the world. To me anyway.

  • @timmy1991991

you know it might be paradoxical in nature but that doesn't mean it can't exist. people can be motivated to stick up for themselves and do things there own way.

and i don't think trying to help someone is 'self-righteous' if anything it's the opposite. telling someone to stick up for themself and be who they want isn't the same as telling someone how to live their life. literally, it is the same thing, i see that, but in effect they're too completely different things.

  • And there's so much to complain about these days - illegal wars, global warming, banksters stealing our future, loss of job security, private companies ripping us all off. Why aren't young people doing anything about it? They are such dorks!

  • Because of one amazing, lovely and truly grand emotion: Apathy. Because caring about stuff is complete and utter bullshit. And many a youngster has either realised this, or is just too lazy to care.

  • I'm doing what im doing. Spending the least amount of money to buy into government shit.

  • It'snot governments that are the root problem any more - it's the multinational companies and banks that own them that are the real problem. We in the west live in a Fascist Oligarchy. Western governments are just their 'Standing Committee'.

  • You are right.

Only thing to do is to avoid them at all cost. Literally!!

  • @adeworks i feel the same about what your saying, and i am a young person(im 13 to be presice), all society wants is to sqaush any fucking young kid down so that they dont fight back against the system all becous they are the strongest.

  • @george1punk2 your one of the youngest and most intellegant people ive heard in a long time.stay true brother stand up and fuckin resist from your canadian friend

  • @adeworks Young people are too busy being stupid hipster trend whores jumping on every righteous "cause" that happens to be the current trend.

Or being drunk metalpunx who don't give a shit about the world, like me.

  • @adeworks bet you are sitting in your de-tached house saying this, dont talk , do!!!

  • @adeworks bet you are sitting in your de-tached house saying this, dont talk , do!!!, you are never to old

  • @stealth1367

True. A message for us all.

However, I am doing my bit but if the next generation ain't, what's the point?

  • @adeworks dont worry they will, they are, wait till it starts

  • @adeworks There are many issues in the world.. the fact that we have become a "global village" now allows us the knowledge to be aware of all the issues that effect all life on Earth.. and there are so many tragedies.. (illegal wars, global warming, banksters stealing our future, loss of job security, private companies ripping us all off) the young people have become overwhelmed and the only way to cope with all these attrocities is to become numb with apathy..

  • @MilkOfPoppiesRed I know what you mean. There are times I have to avoid the news because I become so angry and or cry when I see the bullshit that's going on but a global village isn't completely a bad thing. Look at the January 25 Movement in Egypt. These people gained the knowledge that their life could be better and used the internet to unite and bring down the government peacefully. Hopefully things will work out for all the peace loving people there.

  • @adeworks However, we are all the own heroes/heroines of our individual existence.. we have to find one issue that we as our own person are compelled to right, to justify our own lives.. to provide meaningful validation that our lives have merit. Chose something that inspires you to passionate action.. and act truthfully.

  • @adeworks Because we cant.

  • super groupe de punk

purée quel plaisir depuis si longtemps que je ne l'avais écouté dans les années 78

    merci les mecs !!!

  • Punk Opera extraordinaire ! ( A bit long....For a punky song anyway. One minute songs.)

  • Very impressive.Like it. Thank you. Vive la anarchy!

  • What a great lyrics i love it thanks

  • Plenty of the Anarcho punk bands were on girls..

the shop floor, green anarchists in

the woods, social anarchists in our

    communities, individualists when you

    when theres something to share,

insurrectionists when we strike a blow.

  • life of brian Help Iam being repressed violence inherited by the system isnt it F%in true?

  • @Vertsk8er419 Woh! Well said!

  • Punk's not dead. Anarchy and peace to all. We used to have some ideals. Now,poor young guys, there's no ideal no FUTURE FOR YOU.And for us too....

  • a think these lyrics is timeless. a fukin ace song, cheers fer postin

  • Powerful

  • such a good record..used to listen to my older brothers copy when i was about 9 yrs old....such a good educational tool!!

  • wow Poison Girls kick MAJOR ass

  • now

  • I ve just found this feeling again and it wont leave me, I wake up and hear the music, my question is...why are we just taking about change.....why dont we act.

  • How do you propose we act?

    (I'm in)

  • .. but do you realise the image in here of protestors walking past the Kremlin in Moscow is of a Communist Party of the Russian Federation demo, and that these people are, in fact, despite their claims, and despite their socialist agenda, also a narrowly nationalist, homophobic, bigoted, 'you-must-be-like-us' and Stalin-excusing sad excuse for intelligent humanity and far from what the freedom this band stood for.

  • Great song, and I have a wonderful memory of turning up to a summer gig with PG, Annie and Crass, and the place being so packed people were backed up into the foyer and out into the yard, all doors open, and the gig started with this song, everyone pogoing slowly together to it.

  • Trick us into anarchy

then put you us to sleep

    gun falls from our hand

    closing eyes screamin inside

    'it's getting too deep"

Hey Trickster, we hear you laughin

where's my cupee doll for participatin???

  • And?

  • raw, could you elaborate?

  • to be quite honest i don't quite understand yours so i'm asking you to elaborate thanks. :o)

  • Raw, it refers to the need to be vigilant and to be

to be leery when the chain gets yanked.
