  • Deamatics didn't sing this song!! The Undisputed Truth did! Ghezzzzz

  • The info box says "Artist: Undisputed Truth"

Even Youtube itself wants you to change the name.

  • So true.

    Timeless classic.

  • This is not the Dramatics. This song is being sung by the Undisputed Truth.

  • OK, I never knew who sung this, I thought it was Jerry Butler....

  • Epic attribution fail

  • That's right, this is by the Undisputed Truth

  • Wrong band...the band is The Undisputed Truth

  • WHEN WILL I EVER LEARN!

  • Smiling facess r a mother u can't if they like u r hate u

  • Politicians and Most folks --Watch smiles??

  • TRUe

  • Its just a real song back in the days; just saying watch your back when you think you are having fun (thats so sad).

  • It is the undisputed truth...and still very relevant today!!!

  • @MrVfreeney , the truth is the truth!!!

  • It's too choppy. it doesn't play smooth. I love this song, too bad...

  • Whoever posted/uploaded this need to go back and try it again. This IS NOT The Dramatics.

    The group is "Undisputed Truth"

  • OH YEAH THIS SONG TAKES ME BACK BUT MY PRETEND FRIEND OH YEAH SHE KNOWS WHO SHE IS I DEDICATE THIS TO YOU

  • The truth you would rather not be reminded of but it's still the truth!

  • This is the version covered by the group The Undisputed Truth.

Which of you nutty negro's thought the Dramatics did this?

  • This song is very relevant today.

  • preach!

  • this song is soooooooo true no matter who sings it.

  • They never gave the women credit for this song

  • This song is about politicians. lol

  • Which one of these men have the woman vocals? Undisputed Truth is the singers of this song!!

  • @arahb1 NO THESE ARE NOT THE SINGERS OF THIS SONG IT IS UNDISPUTED TRUTH COMPOSED OF TWO WOMAN AND ONE MAN THE ORIGINAL SONG CAME FROM THE TEMPTATION THOUGH WHICH IS ALSO A COOL, BUT LONG ASS VERSION...DONT MIND THE CAPS. I JUST LIKT TO TYPE LIKE THAT...

  • @CASTANEDA83 Damn right!!

  • So true, indeed!

  • Old School let's go back

  • Why do people think that The Dramatics sang this? o.o

  • this ain't the Dramatics, this is the Undisputed Truth,y'all might wanna change this

  • Now this is what Music sounds like

  • I heard this song in that movie, "Staten Island". Very good song, can't get it out of my head. :)

  • 17 people are bitter people

that wish they lived in my generation

  • Wonderful message. Be careful who you call your friend.. they may smile you, but they may be trying to plot against you.

  • At that the truth!! I dig it!

  • FUCK ALL HATERS!!!!!

  • I love the vibe this song gives off...you immediately picture someone coming off as a snake with the instruments alone.

  • This is truth! Jealousy and envy pretend to be your friend! Be aware people! I got proof!

  • The version of this song is much better by the DRAMATICS its not so hard and I like having the women in the song and the echo in words is better its not that Whitfield soul .

  • Maybe someone should inbox the video owner to correct the name instead of insulting him/her in the comments :/

  • Change the name of this video. You know it's not the dramatics. You'd have to know who it was when you uploaded it. Unless, you're an idiot. And, I don't think you're are. You're either an asshole trying to annoy people by keeping up. Or, you're too lazy to change it.

  • This definately is (The Undsiputed Truth) and not ( The Dramatics ).

  • Yep, this version is definitely The Undisputed Truth.

  • the truth.

  • It's happening every day, everywhere among everyone, regardless.

  • Oh yeah...love this.

  • SMILING FACES TELL LIES...OLD TIMES...CHECK OUT MY PLAYLIST FOR SOME MORE OLD TIMES.....

  • hey someone tell me are these the same guys from the watcha see is watcha get perforance on soul train. and if not which ones are the original?

  • @JAYFORJAY You're right "The Dramatics" (pictured here) are the guys who did "Whatcha See is Whatcha Get"- BUT they never recorded "Smiling Faces Sometimes"- this is "The Undisputed Truth" !

  • Uh, oh. The title needs to be changed to The Undisputed Truth. I don't know if the Dramatics did a version of this song, but if they did, this is not it. The Dramatics did not have female singers and you can clearly hear female vocals in this song. This is the Undisputed Truth. Just fix the title. Should be easy. Simple mistake.

  • wow im looking at the title and im like wtf!!!

  • This song is so true, too many people smiling in your face and stabbing in your back

  • This song helps me get through life. It's sooo true.

  • This the music I grew up with!

  • I love these lost R&B gems of the '60s-'70s. Incredibly, I'd only heard these songs for the first time when I moved to Los Angeles in the year 2000. These songs; Smilin Faces, Whatcha See Is What You Get, Show and Tell by Al Wilson, etc. They still in pretty heavy rotation there ;)

  • This song is rare. Who is smiling faces? They're anyone, one might be talking to - They don't discriminate. Smiling faces might be your brother, your sister, your mother, girlfriend. This song puts one on point -just beware, if your're not they will get you, and in a bad way.! I like this version of the song, but all are good. ? The "undisputed Truth Is the Original version.

  • I didn't know the Dramatics sung this song

  • who posts theese songs, the person that did no dam well this aiant the dramatics

  • what you know about this....handshake that hides a snake...

  • lol, what a rookie, but youve got good taste

  • fuck you and your motown loving ass

  • who gives a F*** about who did this and what... just roll one up, dragon up and enjoy

  • WAIT A MINUTE , WAIT A MINUTE ...THESE GUYS HAVE SMILING FACES ...SOMETHING FISHING GOING ON .

  • @franz909 lmao

  • Regadless of who did this version, this song, the groove, the voices, the lyrics. I think this is one of the greatest soul r@b songs ever written. no offense to James Brown, Jakie Wilson, Marvin ,or anyone else!!

  • The trouble with 30 years of listening to these songs looped an then rapped too, combined with a media that was and is insensitive to Classic R&B/ SOUL or what ever name they might put on it.Someone mistakes this Million selling hit by a Motown act " The most popular pure Record company ever" for another Million selling R&B/SOUL act from another record company! an both are American Company's!

  • This is "Undisputed Truth"!

  • Its an insult to EVERY artist when their song isnt properly credited to them...Its also frustrating when you're looking for a particular song and cant find it bcuz of an unexcusable typo by sonmeone who dont know their music...

  • HIS IS UNDISPUTED TRUTH

  • Great song, and, It is going to speak the truth and live forever.

  • Songs of the 70's gave us lessons. Check it out, each one of them... They also taught you how to love. I don't see that today .

  • @53camy you so right

  • "Don't let the handshake and the smile fool ya...take my advice, I'm only tryin' to school ya...." Very true words!

  • in the picture there all smiling haha

  • thats the undisputed truth's version

  • My fellow Detroit brothas and sistahs for sure know that this is Undisputed Truth's song.

  • well who the hell heard of the undisputed truth? the other groups mentioned are still relevant!

  • This version is the undistbuted truth. A great tune. You're damn right!!!

  • your enemy wont do you no harm ,cause you know where hes coming from

  • yall do ya research its by a group called, "Undisputed truth" a group form by 3 members, 2 females a male...i tried to download this song off the net and they was giving me different composers such as the ojays and the dramatics but later i found out..

  • Let's get it right. The Undisputed Truth, Made this Jam mainstream.....The Dramatics, never recorded this song. Again, I stand "Undisputed.

  • Not an amature and, This Is "The Undisputed Truth". Not the "Temptations". I Stand, "Undisputed".

  • get your sht right

  • Yes this IS the Undisputed Truth!!!!!!!!

  • infocus4us.topoffers.us

feel it i love the ----- figure it out

  • the song was written by Norman Whitfield, and originally performed by the Temptations. Norman wrote many of the Temptations greatest songs. He also wrote "Car Wash". He died in 2008. Not sure where the Dramatics comes in?

    They were incredible though

  • U THINK!!! paracite187, IS WHITE??? WHO COULD BE SO STUPID!!! 2-PUT A PICTURE OF THE DRAMATICS, WHERE ONE OF," THE UNDISPUTED TRUTH", SHOULD BE!!! DUMB-DUMB!!! GET YA _HIT!!! 2-GETHER!!! TRICK!!! CMF TRIBE!!!

  • this is NOT the dramatics!!!!!

  • I SWEAR THEY AINT NEVER LIED .....SO AMAZING TO SEE THEM PERFORM THIS

  • Definitely "The Undisputed Truth." This is one of my favorites. This is the second 45 RPM I ever purchased. My first was the "Lay Away" by the Isley Brothers. I still have the record and I play it from time to time. I am a huge Temptations fan, but this particular version is not their style. It does not even sound like any of the many Temptations groups.

  • I love the fact that these classic songs are being put on YouTube, but why would someone put up a pic and name of a group that did NOT record this version? THIS IS THE UNDISPUTED TRUTH on this recording. I know many people have said so, I just wanted to add my 1 cent to the fray!

  • I guess 7 people don't like to smile......

  • this song always reminds me of my dad.

  • THIS JOINT AIN'T NEVER LIED. R U PICKIN UP WHT THEY PUTTIN DOWN!!!!!

  • they dont know music at all.....

  • Great song!

  • Sweetie, this is NOT the Dramatics. There are two female vocalists on this song. Your own picture shows there were none in the Dramatics. This song is by The Undisputed Truth. Give credit where it is due.

  • sounds just like the *undisputed truth* version to me

  • YUP SUMBODY GOOFED

  • Singin' THE damn truth on this one!

  • I listened to both and yes this is the Undisputed Truth. Thanks, I had no idea and now I get to find a new fave group too.

  • who you think you is?

    Cab Calloway!

  • "Smiling Faces Sometimes" is a soul song written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong for the Motown label. The song was originally recorded by The Temptations in 1971. Producer Norman Whitfield had the song re-recorded by The Undisputed Truth the same year, resulting in a number-three Billboard Hot 100 position for the group. "Smiling Faces" was the only Top 40 single released by the Undisputed Truth, and was included on their debut album The Undisputed Truth

  • @patwelke THIS version in THIS clip is the Undisputed Truth's version, regardless of whoever else may also have recorded it. The ywo female vocalists give it away. None of the other groups - The Temptations, Rare Earth, or the Dramatics - had any women. This song very obviously does. I have this song in a Motown box-set called Hittsville.

  • Honeychild, this is by "Undisputed Truth".

  • Rare Earth did a version of this way before undisputed truth

  • @bigbadrastaty . uh no...Temps and Undisputed Truth did it in '71. Rare Earth did a version in 72

  • @bigbadrastaty . uh no...Temps and Undisputed Truth did it in '71. Rare Earth did a version in 72

  • this is the undisputed truth, have it right here in my collection. you can watch them sing it live right here on youtube my friends

  • When you people are confused about who did what song and when they did; since you are on the internet; use it to find what the correct information is before you post.

  • yeah this is the Undisputed Truth who sang for MOTOWN...Dramatics were Atlantic Records

  • And regardless who sung the song or who wrote it, Smiling Faces Sometimes, there are still those kind of folks always tring to be up in your faces, the lyrics of this song stands TRUE!!!!!!!

  • @justcallmeassinine, yeah the Dramatics was one of my favorite groups back in the days, such good mellow music to listen to. I play a lot of the true Ole School music, I can listen this music all day without getting headaches and trying to figure out what they singing about and what lyrics are coming out of their mouths. Take care and continue to listen to the true ole school music.

  • This is NOT the Dramatics or Undisputed Truth. It's Cornelius Bros. and Sister Rose.

  • @ScamWOW You don't know what you are talking about.

  • Now when you listen to the lyrics of this song, it still stands true to today.

  • @wjeanette You are one of the few here who don;t have their head in the sand..it is more than just true today..

  • dear paracite AND buffeater: the O'Jays did not do this song. THIS is the version by Undisputed Truth; the Temptations also sang it. The voice on this version doesn't sound remotely like any of the O'Jays. both of you must be new fans (or internet junkies) trying to be hip about black music.

  • the truth is in the eyes, and the eyes dont lie, amen

  • this song is so true today cuz its a lot of grimey ass people out here friends, family, etc.

  • This is "The Undisputed Truth", singing. NOT "The Dramatics".

  • Great song, but you need to change the artist, as several people have already said, this version is by "The Undisputed Truth", NOT the Dramatics. Both were great groups, but let's give credit where it's due. Peace

  • @BoxBoy1970

u jus' don' give up do ya boy

  • @trojanspaghetti

No! Anyway, no need to argue, it's a great song, and one of my favorites. I was a senior in HS when that song came out, and I loved it then, and I still do now. As for the group, The Undiputed Truth, I don't think they ever had a bigger or more popular song as this one. But, I don't know that for a fact. Peace

  • Check it out girls! Listen up and take notes. Kicking knowledge in real way!

  • LUV THIS SONG =)

  • lets give everyone here a break...hey i thought that blood sweat and tears sung vehicle ...and that mickey dolenz sang dream on ...(i didn't know who aerosmith was at the time)...of course I was only like 6 years old...

  • The undisupted truth group did this song first. But,the dramatics sing it much better.

Well this is just my humble opinion.

  • The oldies are the best songs to this day.But that may be because we don't hear those songs everyday. There is no overload of it.I do like the songs from this era,but not as much as the ones in my parents time.er,well I was around 5 at that time.

  • Ive done so much LSD to this song back in the 90's..lol

    IM hitting 37.

We just loved doing acid and playing this song!

  • Actually it was the temptations that originally did this song in 1971 with the Motown label. In the same year the dramatics did the same song but it was simply called smiling faces. The O'jays did not do this song originally but had a similar song with the same message called backstabbers.

  • this is so true the temptations outdone their selves in this song... like every other song they do..

  • I love In the Rain by the Dramatics!
