That is amazing. I never knew that. Go figure. I have bought this album when i came out in 79. This is my favorite hagar song too. I HAD THE ALBUM with the liner notes for years. I wore out the album. One would think i had seen Perrys name on it. Goes to show you that hitting the bong all the time back in the day was not a good idea. And i still have not learned my lesson. Some things never change.
@LesSmith45 hhahaha! hang in there lad - i feel sorry for people who don't smoke, as when they wake up in the morning that's as good as they're going to feel all day...
I have this original vinyl too. I can't tell for sure if Perry is singing background... I'll look at the credits on my album... No matter 2 me... its a great song regardless... and both Sammy and Steve Perry are awesome musicians/performers!
I disagree with this comment ZYVZX i think his VAN HAGAR stuff is more pop than his solo stuff. Your comment on theres only one way to rock kicks ass but so does I cant drive 55, Ill fall in love again, this planets on fire, your love is driving me crazy, feels like love, trans am, bad reputation, babys on fire, cant get loose, plain jane. none of those songs are pop. name me more that two songs that springfield did and jessies girl doesnt even come close to the songs i named above.
Oh please, Steve Perry is getting credit for this song? He sings the word "heartbeat" in a background chorus. Otherwise, it's all Sammy. Go back to the Journey posts for your fix of SP. I've had this album forever (my copy is on vinyl) and I never even noticed Steve Perry on the album.
Steve Perry and Neal Schon both appeared on Sammy's "Danger Zone" album, but not on this song. Steve Perry only sang backing vocals on ""Run for Your Life" and Neal Schon only played guitar on "Love or Money".
wow cool! I never even knew they did this

This comment has received too many negative votes show
If Sammy Hagar didn't get the invitation to join Van Halen, would he have been relegated to the dustbin of rock and roll history a la
Rick Springfield? This kind of inconsequential
poorly written pop rock wasn't doing him any favors, and I'm a fan of the old Hagar/Montrose/Standing Hampton material!
Sammy didn't do any better than his song
"There's only one way to Rock" IMO.
