I've tested drive the new Z4 3.5is when it first came out. The car seems alittle too heavy overall even with the extra 35hp on the 3.5is it still feels bit too heavy. It may also feels like the 135i. Personally I would prefer the new SLK or 2012 new boxster if you really want a nice refine roadster. SLK is more luxury with the new magic sky option that's alittle better than just the hardtop converitable. The new Boxster has more agilty and handling. New Z4 is sitting at the embarrassing point.
@TheMusicandlyricz : I agree with you on the Boxster, but SLK is way too soft and comfortable for me. Doesn't really feel like a pure roadster and the automatic is hateful. I think the SLK is a car I would give my girlfriend and I would either choose the Z4 or more likely the Boxster...BTW: I tested a Boxster S too, check out that review if you haven't already and thank you very much for your detailed feedback !
Myself owns a C4S with PDK and I believe the new SLK has the new 7-speed dual-clutch transmission which will give the car more sporty feel. I would prefer the AMG verison for guys or ppl that are more into speed/acceleration.
I would love to have a Porsche and a Mbenz as the second car. You can have either sport/comfort.
@TheMusicandlyricz : When I drove the new SLK, it felt nothing like a Z4 or Boxster to me. The one I drove also had an automatic, the 7G-Tronic plus, not the AMG Speedshift plus 7G tronic ! That should make a huge difference. I think the AMG must be a nice car to drive and has a fantastic sound also...I would really love to review any kind of AMG car, but I didn't get the chance yet and couldn't rent one either. I don't like the regular Benzes..I'm a BMW and Porsche guy ;-)
The AMG verison of SLK is like a beast compare to the SLK350.
You really gotta test drive the car. For straight road it makes you feel like you're sitting in a small rocket. But the handling was a bit disappointed. Not as sharp as the BMW and not nearly as good as the Porsche. The thing is that they give you a very nice tuned sound and speed. Although they're not as sporty as the BMW or Porsche but they're very comfortable to seats for cuising compare with the BMW or Porsche.
Lol is it weird of me to not like sports cars the has the exhaust on one side? And if it only has like one it should be in the middle like the boxster. maybe I just like symmetrical things
@Kevin172737 : Well, I understand what you mean, but as long as it sounds good, I think you can live with it, right ? The sDrive35i Z4 has one pipe on each side, btw !
@carrothk : Haven't had the chance to drive it yet, but if one company can make great 4 cylinder engines than it's BMW...But the sound won't be any match to this inline 6, which is sad
You said the car generates a lot of hate, don't lose time with haters! Put on a big smile, enjoy the nice car and be happy. I very much enjoy your reviews.
Awesome video...i drive a 325 with a very similar engine...agree with you...love the smoothness and the sound! More accentuated in the Z4 by the sounds of things.
What are your thoughts on this car with the N20 in it? Love the higher fuel economy, extra torque, and more power, and less weight...think I would really miss the sound. I don't follow the Z cars too closely since I need 4 seats, but a z4 with the turbo 4 might prove too much temptation.
@friendlytaipei : Thanks for sharing your opinion, buddy ! So...I love all BMW-engines to be honest. I've never driven any that didn't surprise me or wasn't fun to drive, even the small 4-cylinder ones ( like in my 116i review). But...
Nothing will beat those inline-sixes and I am sad that the next 1 series won't have them anymore. These Turbos will be great engines, but no match to those inline-six ones ...
Thumbs up for BMW: Z4, another EPIC car! "Attracts a lot of hate and envy, especially here in Germany" - I think not only in Germany, but everywhere else on the planet. It's sad, but that's just the way it is.

rgeat video as always Guido. Really great review and I like your honesty in all the videos you make.I like you like the interior of the car its very functional with a great look. Great job as usual and I look forward to your next video.
Outstanding!! Thumbs up! My heart jumped at 10:11. I'll never get an opportunity to drive cars like these, but I can totally imagine a nice drive along the beach or something.
excellent test and select of car.u're right that the car is a bit difficult for roudster. would tell you that when the test bmw little drift it looks great.
Boy the video quality, in this video is awesome (new camera?)! I love that dissolve, at 0:18, and the engine revving with the timed slide show. At the next gas station incident, just film the jackass, and tell him to watch his fat face on Youtube! Beautiful countryside this time of year! Love the tight turn fly by at 4:02 and the country road at 4:12. We get a surprise at 10:11, I won't spoil it! And I think we see a hairdresser at about 10:44! Love the conclusion and delivery at the end!

Great vid! I know you stressed BMW's inline 6. But what do you think about the N20 4 cylinder replacement of the sdrive 28i?
