the real 2.1 was out about 3 or 4 days ago heres some features

Animated wallpapers and multiple home screens

You can choose between 3, 5, 7, and 9 homescreens.

Live wallpapers are now available, others can now be installed from Market.

Facebook App and Widget

Names, profile pictures, and status will can be implemented into your Contacts.

A widget can be placed on one of your homescreens.

Question: there is a home screen I see again and again with this big calendar and sun display that takes up the top third of the screen, that I do not like. Can this be removed?

i got the 2.1 update 1 about an hour ago. you dont get the new app drawer or the five screens yet, but you do get the updated gallery, multi-touch capabilites, a news and weather widget, and an updated music app. i think there is another 2.1 update coming sometime that is going to be just like the nexus one. is this true peteralfonsojr?

Official DROID 2.1 update is out as of yesterday. You can manually download it though, the real one of course, not the test versions.

What does the official 2.1 update look like? Is it very similar to the N1? I've heard that droid won't receive a lot of the eye-candy the N1 has with 2.1. I heard it was just getting multitouch, the new gallery, and the five screens and maybe a few things.

I'd like to see a video of the official 2.1 update rather than all these custom 2.1 roms >.>

For anyone that hasn't downloaded and installed Pete's ROMS...be quiet about this being a fake. His ROMS are top notch and they are SO much better than the 2.1 "official" update shown here. This is a stripped down ROM that lacks any of the 1.2GHz Multi-touch enabled Bugless Beast! Love your work Pete!

The only thing that remotely makes me believe it's the true 2.1 version of Android is the photo gallery. Besides that, I don't buy it. There should be 5 scrollable home screens, the apps screen should have a different animation to it, there should be live wallpapers, and the "2.1 update" on firmware should simply state "2.1." There are a few other convincing videos out there. This one, not so much.
