i had the original game, (yes the bosses were absolutely fucking insane, compared to how much easier they made them in the following years) but i remember the first time i flew into Level 7's reactor room, being new to it as i was, i had already burnt the cloak and the invulnerability close by, and i saved at the door, opened it up and noticed this yellow monstrosity that blasted my 200 shields into oblivion in a matter of seconds. Nice to meet you too, Super Hulk. weeks of my life were spent...

I remember spending a year to kill the Smart Missile Hulk. I think this video tells you the right thing- just go guns blazing at him with everything. My mistake was that I was too cowardly, hiding in the entrance hallway and taking a couple shots at a time, first to kill his body guards, then to kill him. Eventually he gets a smart missile to explode right in there and you can't dodge the bomblets in the small space. Fighting him in the open arena is the best way.

Hehe.. i tried exactly that same "coward" tactic, i remember running back as fast as i could backwards in, hoping that i wasn't followed by a homing missile!

i did the same thing exactly. i remember once feeling like a bad ass cause i backed up and a bomb followed me through the doorway and i turned my ship enough to shake the bomb. i was like 11 years old and it was the shit.

as a side note i think its funny that i still think of "the yellow hulk" several times a year. im 22 years old.

Random 2 cents, I think the level 27 boss should've been harder. if it spawned those giant purple fuckers it might have been more of a challenge.

In the oldest version of Descent I have, he actually does spawn them! These guys are fuckin' awesome, a shame there's no briefing on them, guess it'd be funny.

I agree, they were always my "favorite" enemy, just that that Fusion blast bug combined with them being big and slow made them a bit weak... relatively speaking.... but you needed a shitload of missiles to destroy one!

Sidenote, any idea why they are not in the briefing? It always gave them a mysterious character to me, but i would've liked to see them briefed as well!

I dunno. Minibosses tend not get briefed, even in Descent 2. Super Hulk didn't get briefed either. These two are quite a nuisance!

This game is incredible, i've got D2X-XL set up now, and found my old D3 cd;s, i've managed to setup d3 again, and tried playing online, i sucked! i need some practice, btw, does anyone have a demo of defeating the last boss on D2? i have tried and tried, and have NEVER been able to do it! IT IS HAUNTING ME!!!

To kill the boss at the end of D2, you have to attack him from behind. There's a glowing green spot on his back to shoot an Earthshaker missle at, that's what I use and trust me, I whooped his arse lots of times.

Yeah, me too! When I finally defeated him I felt I discovered a whole new universe... (i was a kid back then). And yes... the sounds you can get are unfortunately MIDs, which sound worse than original music.
