If you are not in a profession that requires access to an airport, the BEST place to live on the Oregon/Northern California coast is Brookings. It's a small town of about 5000 people. It's the warmest coastal town in Oregon and it has the least amount of annual rainfall of any coastal town. The beaches are fabulous and you can get fresh seafood. I lived there before. Downside: there's not much nightlife and the nearest movie theater is in Crescent City, CA (30 min away).

You're right. Sacramento would be OK. So would Eureka. It's a nice coastal town. Don't know if it has an airport though. Medford, Oregon is cool. (I used to live there). Medford is on the CA/OR border and it has an airport. Any of those places would be nice places to live. Medford is especially nice because it doesn't rain that much there.
