Nigerian government should find ways of preserving stuff like these........so we have something to show our children, that Nigeria once had good music.
God bless you for posting this one oo, this one has been playing in my head all these, never knew it was here. "Onegenege Oneguselu" Man infact you too much, 7 gbosa for this post.
Even before Ronald Reagan called for Gorbachev to 'tear down this wall', referring to the Berlin Wall. This great Nigerian icon call on the powers that be to "break down the wall", referring to the policy of Apartheid in South Africa. Growing up all these music was mere entertainment but listening to them now, it shows that a great deal of Africans were silent in the midst of oppression, starvation, corruption, etc.
I did not know this great maestro has passed on to the great beyond. Listening to his music as I have often done, I never knew he was physically gone. I remember him as a boy, and always comparing him to another maestro, Sir Victor Uwaifo. Yes, he will be missed by those who appreciate his message-packed music. This man impacted the world with his music. Like Mariam Makeba, he fought political injustices and neocolonialism in Africa. He was a hero and still is, even in death. RIP great one!!!
If the Nigerian youth will hide to his advice, they need to rise up for a REAL Revolution... that will wipe away all those evil gangs that have contributed to the collective misery in the country.. None will be spared.. starting from all the past living presidents down to the counselors..
This special song is well known to me since 1990 and now I can hear here full. Great video, great artist, mister Sonny Okosun. This song is anthological. The world need to know it. Arrangement, performance, composition , all are genius
What a shame to so-called country called Nigeria! not long ago this true 'ambassador' was left to his fate with no help coming from the country that he served.. It was an Indian man who was willing to pay his medical bills.
Now he is dead and as usual, the thieves in power want to use giving him a 'so-called state burial' to steal. I am sure he is rejecting such nonsense just like Achebe rejected their useless 'national award'the; oon, obe, itt, sap, ofn, hiv, iwu, obj, ibb..
My heart is breeding for this great man that has touch the hearts of many with his music, may your soul rest in perfect peace of the lord... my best track of his music is WOMAN when he carried a pregnant woman on his bicycle to the hospital for delivering. i wish i can get the video again to watch here on youtube.I really miss him, sunny okosun rest in the lord...
Great Sunny Okosun. May your gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Though you left a legacy behind, we will still continue to remember you for good. Adie Sunny Okosun. I will forever miss you.

The music evokes very sweet memories but one could certainly do without the grainy video.

What an insults that they want to now give my uncle state burial
Where were these hypocrites when he needs help?
In Ishan that's a proverb that says
Feed me while I am alive, not when I am dead
That's is exactly what they are doing
What profit has a man from all his labor
In which he toils under the sun?
One generation passes away, and another generation comes; But the earth abides forever. The sun also rises, and the sun goes down,
Rest In peace
