Yes the 320th Barrage Balloon Bn was in the initial landings on D-Day.The hit Ohmaha and Utah Beach supporting the 1st and 29th Division. They fought side by side with those men enduring the same hostile fire. I have interviewed White 29th veterans who spoke of thier barvery

well the 761 all black tank unit spear headed the battle of the bulge with patton and liberated concetration camps and were the first americans of any color to meet the russians
