@anerio4321 it all makes sense, actually... it ain't lame, it's just a bit more bundled than the rest of their stuff. "maniac dance" is a metaphor for Tolkki's manic depression and bipolar disorder.. since I'm suffering from it too, it's not hard for me to imagine how he feels - at one moment he might be ecstatically triumphantly happy - but in the next second he's feeling so depressed like he wants to die.. so "dance" here is just a metaphor for bipolar disorder characteristics

I understand your reasons, they are backed up with good ideas. yet, I've gotta add that it's really hard to please the masses... lol just put yourself a bit in their position - if they had kept doing their classical happy-strato stuff, fans would be like "ohh it's just ANOTHER typical/regular Strato album"... and when they do something totally different, like this, then it's like "noooo we want Strato back, give us good power metal"... so it's a pretty tough job ;)

@anerio4321 at the first few listens, yeah I was pretty annoyed at the "bobbing" in the beginning, and I did use the album as a dust collector... till like a year and a half ago, when I just thought "hmmmm, I never gave it a full spin" and since I was in a pretty good mood (when I'd do many things that I wouldn't normally do) I just let it play in the background.. I was surprised how interesting this album is! well, just my personal experience, doesn't mean everyone will feel the same :)

I'm glad to see that someone agrees with me. BTW, it's not only this song, it's the whole album. The concept and overall musical direction is way inferior to everything released by Stratovarius before. I have to admit, though, that "The Land Of Ice And Snow" is an excellent theme, and the only outstanding song from the album, comparable to the classic ballads "Forever", "Keep The Flame", and the recent "When Mountains Fall" from the new Tolkkiless Strato album, Polaris.

Your question is quite interesting since I am listening to the album right now. Some say it is the best album from Stratovarius ever. I don't agree. It is true that it is better than "Elements Pt 2" and the infamous "Stratovarius", but true Strato fans can feel the absense of good-old-Tolkki. Get the first 6 albums I mentioned in my previous comment and I promise you'll have a great experience, particularly with EPISODE, which is my favorite album from Stratovarius :) the other 5 are great too.

Umm what might be the problem here? I said how the things really went. Go on and ask anyone in the band. Of course it's Strato but it will of course be different from old strato. Well yeah he used similar or same chords and chord progressions but I see no problem there. That's what most bands do completely :) I don't think he's boring, he makes and has made great music. And we would know no Strato if it weren't for him.
