  • "The problem is not the abuse of power, it's the power to abuse." - Harry Browne

  • 10 people like robbing the treasury

  • Ron Paul 2012!

  • There multiple forms of "Big Government". There's the more commonly known version of "Big Government" the Democratic Socialist form. But there's also the Conservative form of "Big Government" with limited Social Freedom.

  • @FRSFreeStateNow

Left wing socialism or right wing socialism.

  • @mrearlygold

    Take your pick

  • The ironic thing is i found this as one of ericdouglas's favorites.

This is a good man. He gets it.

  • What's with all the librarians commenting on this video?

  • @ZavTheInsane Libertarian, a political party. in favor of small government. Not librarian the profession, if you can call it that.

  • A Great Man.

  • Harry was the greatest although it's clear that Congressman Ron Paul is every bit as deep and knowledgeable about economics and also understands the absolute connection between freedom, prosperity, better life, better health and sound economics.

If Americans understood that there is in fact a connection between freedom and living a much more prosperous life because of that freedom, then perhaps we would not have the economic crushing socialism we have now.

  • Amazing how relevant this video is, in light of the current "Wall St. Reform" efforts of Obama.

  • i like this man! he's soo wise and knows what he is talking about. Now I know why I'm libertarian.

  • He was a true patriot and wanted better for the American people. Instead we're stuck with too much government and are chained by the restrictions it imposes on every aspect of our lives. Harry knew this and remains as one of my unforgettable heroes.

  • I love the way he speaks. So clear, logical, cogent.

Harry Browne is one reason I am proud to be a libertarian.

  • RIP harry browne.

i learned so much from his books and radio show.

even though i never met him i cried all day when i heard he had died. it was because the world lost such a great light and voice for freedom. **peace and thanks for posting**

  • Forgive me but isn't it true that the idea of bargaining in good faith means that vendors can't promise the world and give you snake oil have a little teeth...I'm not into all kinds of rules but there are some that can help..

  • Harry was the best. RIP

  • My god....only 877 views. What a fucking disgrace.

The American people have absolutely no idea what kind of man they passed up as president in 2000. Ever read some of the things Harry Browne write? Simply unbelievable.

  • You have to understand. Athough the Libertarian party has some sound ideas and philosophies, it will never be able to gain much of a following amongst the American electorate due to its stances on sensitive issues like the war on drugs, legalized gambling, prostitution, etc., Americans are just too socially conservative for this.

  • Are you really surprised at the low number of views? American's are educated in government schools....

  • this guy was a prophet

    RIP America

  • Harry Browne is the most intelligent person I have ever heard talk about politics, ever... except for one thing. On Hannity and Colmes, Hannity was speaking in favor of invading Iraq because the Hussein regime kept trying to make nuclear weapons. Harry said, "The United States has nuclear weapons." That one comment made me really worry about a Harry Browne presidency because a president would have to understand just how serious a Hussein regime with nukes would be.

  • (continued) But like I said, Harry is a political supergenius on everything else. I read Why Government Doesn't Work and was absolutely in awe. Foreign policy aside, I am full blown Libertarian. I think the Republicratic Party is awful and really needs to go. Republicans talk about being economic conservatives, but when put to the test, they are not. Democrats talk about being social liberals, but when put to the test, they are not. It's time for the reign of Libertarians.

  • @thimoneus Why not take it one step further and become an anarchist? Check out Stefan Molynuex at Freedomainradio and download his free audiobooks "Everyday Anarchy" an "Practical Anarchy" if you are interested in what real freedom looks like. You'll be in even greater awe after you check those two books out, I promise you.

  • I can't believe you can write that in 2009 - a full 6 years after we knew what BS the pretext for going into Iraq was!!

Husseain regime with nukes..gimme a break!!

  • There was no single pretext for the war in Iraq. There was a long list of reasons. Any way, nobody in the Bush Administration claimed the Hussein regime had nukes. They said our government, five other governments, and certain U.N. officials reported that the regime had stockpiles of other types of WMD's. They were a terrorist government that had used WMD's (sarin gas) in a terrorist attack. That was a major issue.

  • The point I made about Harry Browne is that Sean Hannity said the Hussein regime was working on nukes (which they had done in the past... Israel bombed their nuke facility to dismantle the program.), and Harry acted like that would be no big deal. It would be a VERY big deal. The regime funded terrorist organizations and was a terrorist government itself. Terrorist governments can't have nukes. It is out of the question.

  • @thimoneus And don't you think Iran would be worrying about how serious a threat the US with nuclear weapons are?

The United States have used nuclear weapons in the past and have been invading countries left and right, and have been openly talking about war with Iran. If you lived in Iran, wouldn't you be shitting yourself? Wouldn't that make you more in favour of trying to get nukes ASAP? Wouldn't that nearly force you into supporting the current regime?

  • Awesome clarity of vision. As the media pretends today's predicaments are some sort of unforeseen calamity, those of us who knew Harry's work are not surprised in the least. Indeed he is missed.

  • Wish more people would listen to men like Harry Browne.

  • Hey, Ron Paul tried and the stupid box mocked him. And, of course, the stupid heads can't understand any range of thought outside of their stupid box.

  • A great man, he is missed.

  • @Rongstad Indeed!!!

  • Book noted at the end of this is the best book I have ever read.
