Exactly right. Power corrupts, but there is just far too much taking place in the area where we need the most honest and law abiding professionals. It is extremely sad. Hopefully their trip to prison will serve as a deterrent to others.

They want to beat powerless civilians, but get protection from having to be accountable for it, and that protection, which you've already correctly addressed, comes from the other cops.
