  • thx man, after scratching my head and going over everything I could think of for an hour I go inside and find this video. Problem found and fixed after 10 minutes

  • i have a 1993 legacy as well, and my check engine light is on. but when i turn it on it does not flash at all so it gives me no codes. it just stays continuously on, what does that mean?

  • @manolo19991 That just means that it is on. You have to plug in the green self diagnostic wires under the steering column in order for the light to flash you the codes. Watch the video.

  • HI, I just bought a used 96 legacy outback and check engine light and TCS lights are on. The TCS light stays on even when the car is off. The guy I bought it from said he JUST replaced the o2 sensor and I was curious if you might know what it is. I have a diagnostics machine, I just haven't had a chance to hook it up and read the code yet. The device is currently in my room mates car who is off running errands all day. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • @requiemforneurosis Get the scanner and pull the code for the CEL. As for the TCS, there is a different way of diagnosing it, I will look through my 4EAT book and see if there is a way you could flash the codes using the TCS light.

  • hy man, is this the same for all other subarus? i have a 2002 legacy b4, do i look for the green plugs too or is it different?

  • @whatchain No, your car is OBDII, this video shows how to diagnose a CEL with an OBDI Subaru. You would have to get a code reader and plug it into the OBD port under your steering column to retrieve codes for your OBDII vehicle.

  • I have a Subaru Impreza 1.6 94. I have two questions. Social the plugin. Black and showed error 35. (canister). I checked it and it correctly. 44 Om. He closes vacuum. Opens, and no liquidity. I did a test with the green connector. Travel in all normal. I wanted to delete the problem connecting two black authors black and green to green. But the problem is not deleted.

This is a problem because I have error traveling with Air Conditioner. After 10 minutes. The engine stutters. Check lamp turns

  • sweet did it and you will see a video response from goindownthetubes

  • THnaks man ! your awesome we replaced the o2 sensor on my moms 94 awd auto legacy and the check engine light is still on and it only gets 20 miles per gallon i know its auto with awd but 20 mpg thats just BAD! v8s can get that ! what does your car get? so maybe i will try this my 86 subaru gl 4wd 5speed wagon gets 26-28 and do you know if a 5 speed legacy get better ,worse, or same than the auto legacy? thanks!
  • @crammage Well, if you CEL is still on then diagnose it with the steps above so you know what it is, then address the problem. Manual transmission cars always get a little more better MPG, so a 5 speed would probably give you an extra 2-3 mpg.

  • @Jessekrs123 what mpg did you get?

andf newer manuals get about the same, with 5 speed and 6 speed even 7 ,a 8 speed autos

  • Can you do a video when you change your O2 sensor. I have a 92 RS Liberty (Legacy) and I have code 32 and 23. Im taking it in for a full diagnoses this week but I already know the IACV and O2 sensor codes are present. If I can fix any of it myself Ill be saving money.

  • @scottclements78 I don't have to change my o2 sensor, but I can show you how to do it. It is a fairly easy job, should only take 20 - 30 minutes. The RS Liberty is turbo right? It might be a little different than my N/A Subies, but I'll look into it and post a video up within the next week.

  • @Jessekrs123 Yeah it an EJ20 Turbo. I have a JDM 98 WRX long motor conversion. Ill be happy when its running right.

  • thnx sharing, very helpfull.. will it work on a JDM wrx?? OBD1..

  • @valerianbergen I don't see why not. I have never owned anything JDM though, so try it out and see what happens.

  • Hm i got an check engine light pretty randomly and if i turn the engine off and restart my 93 legacy it´ll disappear. And if i try to self diagnost the engine there is no error in the memory....

  • @VL125 If the CEL comes on only while you are driving, then plug the diagnostic wires in and drive your car. Once the CEL is tripped, your CEL light should flash the error code, and keep flashing it until you turn your car off. I was getting a random CEL while driving, and I diagnosed it while driving, and it turned out to be the o2 sensor, which is probably the same CEL you are getting. But to confirm, drive around until it is tripped, then it will give you the code.

  • @Jessekrs123

Its 32, should be Oxygen sensor or circuit, the sensor is allready ordered. Thx a lot. :)

  • @VL125 same problem, what was it? i turn it on, no check engine light. put it in gear no check engine light, drive for about say anywhere from 3 to 30 min's it will start blinking with no code or anything...

    (FWD 1993 5speed subaru legacy)

  • @devilspimpdady

It was a broken Lambda sensor, i fitted a new one and it was gone.

  • how could i fix that problem??? is there a any scanner for subaru 1990 legacy????

  • what if i got 4???

  • @zxc122012 Diagnose them all separately. Count off one code, remember the number, then wait for the next code. Codes are separated by a 2 second break. Remember each code you get then figure out what each one means.

  • @Jessekrs123 They repeat by flashing 4 times. So it is like this 1111---1111----1111.......----1111. Do you think it might be 44??

  • @zxc122012 No that is not 44. If they are continually blinking like that, then that either means that you have both your diagnostic and memory wires plugged in which would mean that you are clearing any recent codes. Unplug the black sensors, and then see what happens.

  • @zxc122012 No that is not 44. If they are continually blinking like that, then that either means that you have both your diagnostic and memory wires plugged in which would mean that you are clearing any recent codes. Unplug the black sensors, and then see what happens. If your black connectors are unplugged and it is still flashing like that then that could also mean that your engine has a misfire that could harm the catalytic converter.

  • work on a 97???????????????

mine just came on but i also just got gas so maybe it's just bad gas?

  • No, it should not be the same for your 1997 model because in this video I am diagnosing an OBD1 (1996 AND OLDER) Your 1997 model is probably OBD2 which is very different from OBD1. I have tried figuring out the OBD2 system on my newer Subaru but I cannot figure it out. Also I do not think that it would be gas, if I make a breakthrough figuring out the OBD2 diagnostic system, I will post a video.
