No, you're wrong. It is a Volvo Modular engine, model B5254T3 with the 6 speed manual M66FWD gearbox.
This engine is found in the Volvo S40, Volvo V50, Volvo C30, Volvo C70, Focus ST and Focus RS, Mondeo 2.5 and S-Max 2.5
Volvo modified the turbo manifold in 2007 to up the power to 230bhp. The 230bhp engine went into all of the above Volvo's, but the Fords stayed with the older engine variant.
Ford doesnt use this volvo engine anymore, as they sold volvo!

personally i prefer the renault megane, i own 1 but still the ford ain't much. if you want pure speed sure its fun but for me renault is my kind of car. laugh at it if you want but im happier with the french car. there ain't many places you can speed anymore so it doesn't matter.

After 80 or so gtr runs out of steam most of the rwd crowd just getting traction.( if they don't have dr's on) Most mags can't drive high powered rwd cars just check out the forums if you want to know what a car will truly run.

Let's take the 8.4L V10 in the Viper, it "only" has 600hp because that's considered safe for normal driving and not everyone has the skills to handle even that much power. However, there are hundreds of tuners which take that same engine upto 1800+ hp. Also, the Ford Taurus SHO we have here comes with a 3.5L ecoboost engine which has about 360 hp. Why would you need a 345 hp hatchback? Americans are the best at engine tuning and you know it.
305 FWD hp is bullshit, I have 317 whp on my FWD GTI, 340 lbs-ft... completly tuned suspension and yes, it handles really nice and very impressive for fwd, but I can break loose my tires in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and even 4th gear, what's the point? a roll monster? highway monster? put that focus on gravel-uphill and u wont go anywhere. AWD is the way to go, at least RWD for that kind of power. My 02 cents.

Oh by the way.. I also owned a 1987 Merkur XR4Ti for a long time.. Loved that car and even though it wasn't exactly the same car as the Ford Sierra it was very close and I had over 10 years of driving enjoyment from it. With a few upgrades it was a real speed demon and handled like it was on rails.

I've always admired European automobiles and in the past I would agree with you on quality but todays Ford is a fine product in the USA. High quality materials and fine craftsmanship.. And it is due in big part to Fords new vision of combining the technology they've acquired from Jag, Aston, Volvo, Land Rover and from their European car market. Even my F150 has ABS system from Bosch. Quality parts.

@cb7pwn WE haven't gotten the focus ST yet, and when we do get it, it's not going to be the 2.5 LIter engine, it's going to be a 2.0 ecoboost 245HP... and the body style isn't or will be as nice as the one europe is producing... IT'S like WTF!!!??? that pisses me off! if we can't have the nice body styling, at least keep the 2.5Liter Volvo engine in it! GRRR why!??

Let's take the 8.4L V10 in the Viper, it "only" has 600hp because that's considered safe for normal driving and not everyone has the skills to handle even that much power. However, there are hundreds of tuners which take that same engine upto 1800+ hp. Also, the Ford Taurus SHO we have here comes with a 3.5L ecoboost engine which has about 360 hp. Why would you need a 345 hp hatchback? Americans are the best at engine tuning and you know it.

305 FWD hp is bullshit, I have 317 whp on my FWD GTI, 340 lbs-ft... completly tuned suspension and yes, it handles really nice and very impressive for fwd, but I can break loose my tires in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and even 4th gear, what's the point? a roll monster? highway monster? put that focus on gravel-uphill and u wont go anywhere. AWD is the way to go, at least RWD for that kind of power. My 02 cents.
I think the Focus looks badass.... but I don't believe in FWD anymore.

So I was trying to get across the point as to why in the hell would they decide to make a left sided drive car meanwhile people in Britain drive on the right side of the car. Oh by the way.. I also owned a 1987 Merkur XR4Ti for a long time.. Loved that car and even though it wasn't exactly the same car as the Ford Sierra it was very close and I had over 10 years of driving enjoyment from it. With a few upgrades it was a real speed demon and handled like it was on rails.

@RSTBADBOY On another note, I don't have anything against Brits or Europe in general.. I've always admired European automobiles and in the past I would agree with you on quality but todays Ford is a fine product in the USA. High quality materials and fine craftsmanship.. And it is due in big part to Fords new vision of combining the technology they've acquired from Jag, Aston, Volvo, Land Rover and from their European car market. Even my F150 has ABS system from Bosch. Quality parts.

I wouldn't be sad to see GM go the way of the Dodo.. I'm sure Ford could do just fine without their garbage on the roads. GM completely ruined Saab. Now I'm showing a little hate.. GM really pulled a fast one with the bailout and it's a sore subject.
