@import26 i am a performer.... That is the best feeling hearing people cheer fir you... An active audience is the best it gives them energy to use for their character.
Yeah, what's the point of even going to a performance if you're going to scream over the actor's singing. It has nothing to do with appreciation for the actor--it's just the audience's way of showing that they recognize someone.
Its not frustrating as an actor for people to woo and clap when you come on stage or start to dance or sing its the best feeling ever! It's not right in a really intense scene but in fun songs liken this its gonna happen so why be grumpy about it!
@anon0987654 It's because we can't hear what's being sung when people are clapping and cheering like crazy. I understand the enthusiasm, but tickets are expensive! We don't fork over a ton of money to listen to people cheer- we want to hear every last line. It just isn't fair to those who are trying to listen. It should be common courtesy to be quiet during the performance.
@noodle0912 yeah I understand that, especially if its to the extent that you cant hear, its just if everyone is cheering then being grump doesn't achieve anything.... I was more aiming my comment at people saying actors don't like it rather than from an audience point of view
i'm sorry but the hollaring is not "part of the expirience" as an audience member it's distracting, and as an actor it's frustrating. You missed the opening line of every character...jeez.
@ssgower As an actor, a lively audience can take a good performance and make it memorable. People need to be vocal and encourage eachother and the performers. Plus this has some kick ass stars. Of course people are going to hoot.
who else remebers this from RuPauls Drag U?

I swear to god I have seen that heavier set female ensemble actor in 50 shows now; I am certain she was in Wicked a few years ago....wonder her name.

She's makes the PERFECT Violet Neustead (next to Lilly Tomlin of course, but both are so perfect).

Ugh I love the material, and this excellent cast .... but the set and projections are too much. Jeff Calhoun was right. They eclipse the cast.
