  • This is my favorite throw in Judo. Unfortunately, the IJF has watered down competitive Judo so much I can only use this in MMA and BJJ. This is particularly sad since I started in Judo in 2008 and had a lot of success with this throw. I have to use my 2nd and 3rd favorites in harai goshi and yoko otoshi only now.

  • just watch a knee going to your nose

  • @enios3 True..

  • i admire judo even i fits not the most effective shoot self deffence.. when it comes to close combat i think judo is the best!

children and youth often need judo more then maybe older people cause they really wrestle more then they fight

judo is an excellent jmartial art to accomodate another martial art!

if you know some distnace figth and judo you would be very deffended

  • My favorite throw =)

  • Nothing I would use outside judo though... Unless I somehow felt like breaking some fingers and taking knee to the face...

plus: sumi gaeshi goes where? :)

  • Very nice Ankle picks and probably effective however neither one was Kibisu Gaeshi. The traditional method is an inside pick with uke advancing and tori going down to one knee or picking outside with uke retreating and tori advancing. Your ways are wrestling modifications and go against the spirit of judo by using opposing force.

  • Et si au moment ou il le fait tomber; l'autre réagit avec son autre pied en donnant un coup vers le visage ? !

  • @zakidine No, Ce pas possible

  • @ninjalla

  • Cupping the back of knee works really well for this too by the way (which is still legal in Judo for now so long as you don't grab the pant leg to begin the attack)

  • Good point, thanks

  • @27albrecht Its still legal in Judo outside the IJF, too. The IJF is weak now imo. Ruining the art for no reason except they don't want to train techniques that beat them.

  • @27albrecht That depends on the ref.

  • @TheTerrorUforgot Doesn't everything? ;)

  • @27albrecht Yeah and if they sprawl you can switch to knee and heel to hunt a single leg.

  • I've gotten this move on bigger guys before, I find it throws them off if you drag them down and pull them back for a couple of steps then shoot forward for it, they never see it coming

  • Since the new judo rules came out my last tournament, they didnt let me grab below the waist. no morte gari, te guruma, or even kata guruma.

  • We are allowed this year but IJF looking at a rule change...waiting for trials to finish; only allowed currently if it is with an open hand grasp of the leg; not a closed fist grab of the uniform below the belt...

  • @WarJudoka what tournament were you at? because these throws are still legal. morote gari is banned from the 1st Januar however. If they wern't letting you use te guruma or kata guruma i'd change your society!

  • I was asking mikey4u1984.

  • Set up the ankle pick with the gi or without?

  • Here it's done with the gi

  • @bearboy01 You can watch a Cael Sanderson vid for some good no gi ankle picks.

  • kibinsu = tornozelo

  • I wrestle and train bjj together. In wrestling the ankle pick is my favorite takedown, this is like a gi version of an ankle pick I can try.

  • how do you set up for it?

  • This one is very effective for bjj also xD

  • I'm not ripping on Judo or anyone but I seriosuly wouldn't call this a "throw". The go kyo (the 40 throws of Judo) are still the most impressive throws even with the extra 27.

  • According to Kodokan for Kibisu-gaeshi you need a heel-grip, for Kuchiki-Taoshi a leg-grip. So we can see both waza in the video.

  • Thank you for clearing this

  • You're welcome

  • KUCHIKI DAOSHI

  • this is uchiki ta oshi

  • Sí,

  • and that's not kibisu gaeshi, it's kuchiki taoshi

  • I just wanted to say I love all these Judo videos. They help me remember my Japanese for my belt tests. Thanks for posting them!

  • You're welcome dialupking
