@MrOphachew It's facing the right way, The other way was very rarely found on historical swords. If you actually got to see a historical Jian up close and were shown how to use a Jian you would understand why the guard on his sword faces the way it does.
@TheaSinensisSerpenti -- i heard the more ancient Jians had the handguard facing that way. But then at some point it was turned around for some reason? All the Jians you see now have the handguard facing the other way. Why is that?
The short answer is that in business it's best to give people what they want. Generally people think that a sword should have a guard with two prongs facing forward like you see on some European swords so they are more likely to buy a sword that fits their preconceived notions. Tons of schools practice sword forms but the art of Jianshu is almost dead, even among the small group of practitioners that claim to teach it many still have no idea how they were actually used historically.
