  • Sounds really cool. . . but it cracks me up because they're all miming.

  • does the formation called "Sikh music heritage" ?

I can't find any of their recordings since the music/cd section of rajacademy website is down...

    Thanks

  • surinder singh is an idiot who thinks kirtan can only be done with stringed instruments

  • Nice effort... needs more work though. I have seen these guys perform live and it's not the same.

  • Beautiful, its great to see puratan tradition of playing shaan and manglachar at the beginning of kirtan. Its a rare treat.

  • I have MET Proffeser Surinder Singh!

  • Excellent

  • The way of singing sounds a bit arabic to me. Beauitful music, one of the best Indian classical music performances I seen of YT.

  • we should be grateful that these rare and exquisite traditions are preserved and presented on youtube for us to learn and imbibe. I am a Tabla player and am deeply drawn towards Sikh musical traditions. Wish we had more of these in Mumbai city.

  • wonderful music and true to the sikhi tradition.....easy to comment and not so easy to perform to that level of expertise...let us be encouraging and support this type of expertise developing rather than suppressing the development of traditions that are already getting lost. Good luck and best wishes

  • I agree with the previous comments, ppl can be so upstuck them selves, they don't appreciate what people are contributing to sikhi, if they can do better, plz go ahead and show us... my only request is, in order to avoid hatred comments against religous content, the authors of the video's should take some note of hatred comments & disable comments

  • Great to see the Sikh tanti saaz instruments revived. Yes it looks fake and orchestrated, I think they are lip-syncing. I am inspired by the instruments. Their kirtan needs more work, it's a good start.

  • thats because this a video for their studio recording.

You may even notice that their is a bansuri sound but nobody on stage playing the bansuri.

never the less these guys can sing kirtan circles around anyone I know of in my town.

peeps around here like their harmonium and tabla to pump out hindhi movie tune shabads,

  • This is a kirtan masterpiece.

    Greetings from Mexico

  • waheguru ji ka khalsa, waheguru ji ki fateh.

can someoen please tell em what instrument bhai sahib ji is playing?

  • if i m not mistaken its called a saranda......

  • Can I just add that I think people who make negative comments about people who are really trying, committed and making an effort in something constructive and positive should maybe consider keeping their comments to themselves. It is not for us to judge. There is only one judge. There is enough hate in the world. Im all for the love. Those on the video are talented and I therefore urge you not to be dis-heartened by such remarks. Some people sadly have nothing better to do.

  • In this current time of Kuljog, I find it disheartning that people can be so full of malice. If a person is given a talent especially realting to Sikhi it should be appreciated and enjoyed. Humans have no right to judge. There is only one Judge and it's not us. I enjoyed the performance and I wish you all the success. Unfortunatley life is full of haters, but there is love out there! Much respect.

  • Pritham rehat yeh jan , khande ki pahul chhakkae.

  • SO FAKE!! Straight up POOR, 1/10.

  • acctuslly i have seen them perform in pearson they acctually sound like this

  • I have met them. They came my camp. They have the best classes!!!!! :D

  • Good and keep it up.

  • Gurmat Sangeet Network, where is the flute player in this video or does it have something to do with the fact that Raj Academy dont teach "bansuri"

Also im sure thats a sarod in the background instead of a rabab .. cant rely on the video as its been dubbed over

  • Muy bello colorido

  • can't get any faker but sounds good

  • Good, good music.

  • These are the disgusting constraints of hard sell. You record your entire music in a studio and then sit down in a musical mime to cheat people into believing that the video is for real. It is a bit like the playback music in Bollywood cinema. We shouldn't do this Gurbani Kirtan. Even a non-initiate can make out that nothing in this video is in sync and that the mimed music is nothing but fake. This is true of most of Surinder Singh's video. No wonder that he isn't taken seriously.

  • no were on the cd or dvd or even this video does it say that the performers are playing live

  • @GurmatSangeetNetwork can you post this shabads from the same album:

Rag Dhanasri - Har charan saran Gobind dhukh bhanjanaa

Rag Sarang - jap one Jagannath jagadeesro

Rág Nut Kouoo hai mero saajan meet

Rág Suhee Preet preet gureeaa mohan laalana

Rag Kanra - Man jaapoh ram gopal

Rag Ramkali - Nar namaskaaran narhh

  • Kind Notice:

Please refrain from making ludicrous posts where all that is said is either lol or hahaha.

If anyone has something to say then speak out instead of leaving stupid comments.

    regards

    GSN

  • @GurmatSangeetNetwork Kindly Notice: U said "can be seen playing", a mentioning "can be seen playbacking" would make it truly clear the visuals is there to dress the scene, as contextual helps. The music is vallued as is, nice. The staging is your great indian sense of theatre. I laugh at so called proffesors, a mere title can never be a token of authority. Even in the west we come to understand that,a bit :-/ Notice the young people around the corner who make great music but have no name.

  • Weird, i can hear a flute player but i cant see him. The rabab player is playing at times but the rabab cant be heard ...

    Looks fake !!!

  • the Bollywood style miming is classic!

  • its only a visual aid, the real talent is behind the scenes

  • true, but i havent said anything about the music. I found the video hilarious though!

  • Guru Kirpa

  • Hau Qurbanai Jao Mehrvana, Hau Sadh Qurbanai Jao, Hau Qurbanai Jao Tinah Ke, Laen Jo Tera Nao.

  • sounds beautiful.
