@Mr2pint The raked wing tips help to reduce drag and from what I understand they are more fuel efficient than blended wingtips or those used on the A380
@ConcordeCentral The slightly shorter A340-600 have problems with balance and fuel effeciency due to their extremely long fuselage. How´s that in B747-8?Does anybody know???THNX.
@SuperBoris81 The 747 may be fine due to its extra weight at the front (as in the upper deck). I'm sure Boeing have thought about it though, I wouldn't put it past them.
@ConcordeCentral You are right the raked wingtips significantly reduce drag, you will see this on all future designed large aircraft including future Airbus aircraft. Drag reductions that significant reduce fuel consumption by 14 to 18%
@ConcordeCentral You should go to FRANCE-MULHOUSE-AirbusA320 Crash during auto landing and explain what happened to these 2 idiots jay18jay and YTSMalumni2010 .....
Boeing 747 has come a long way it's been about 40 years. and it managed to survive all that with out any technical difficulties and aircraft of it's size was a fantasy. But it was made possible without any difficulties and If y
Sorry for the cut. I was saying that even if airbus A380 is huge ok it has many difficulties plus it also has an unstable design and looks like a friggin helium balloon. i mean boeing 747 survived 40 years and with small enhancements it made big achievements and if boeing want to make a 747 bigger they can make it bigger than the A380 any how the A380 will soon become Obselete in a few years unlike a 747 so all of you fan boys praise it while it lasts.
@fabianvelazquez1 Everyone loves the 747 but it doesn't mean they should hate the A380 because it's bigger. Even Boeing congratulated Airbus for producing such a big plane and they told Airbus that their aim was no longer to go for the world's biggest commercial airliners and that they would pass that job onto Airbus. Boeing has changed it's objectives to passenger comfort, efficiency and quieter engines.
@faz4321 and so they should! Would you rather be in an aircraft with another 500+ people or in an aircraft which is quiet, has a great feeling and great air quality??
@ConcordeCentral Tbh I hate quite aircraft, I prefer things such as GE90's roaring down the runway, it makes my flying experience a hell lot better. As for capacity I once again don't care but it sure is nice going in a big ass plane lol. A380 or 747 they are both amazing planes, the fact that all new planes are going for the "quite and efficient" label is the only let down for me and that includes both the A380 and 747.
I personally like the 747-8 a lot better, but in facts the A380 is good too with it's seating capacity. As of now it's a fact that no one really knows which one is more efficient. But the 747-8 has definitely won over in design with it's paradise designs, and the airports don't have to pay for modifications for it to land there like they have to do with the A380. But the A380 is good too with some of it's economics and seating capacity. It's range is a bit longer too. But I like 747-8.
@DNETV yeah there is a little difference with range but i'm sure there will be a 747-8ER possibly?!? but yes i think the thought of not converting airports will suade airliners to the 747
@Chrispy854 im not 100% sure but i think its because it allows the aircraft to have a higher angle of attack, i believe they are also called 'leading edge slats' and the rear ones are flaps
@bedrichovak indeed, sure the 747-8i wont hold as many passengers as the a380 but who cares? the 747 family have proved themselves with design etc. over the last four decades where the a380 still needs to do that. the interior of the 747 will look more sophistocated than that of the a380 which stands today

You try to design a plane that does not look like any Airbus, or Boeing. The Airbus company made the A380 in 2004, because airliners asked Airbus to do so. It was not built to replace the Boeing 747. And please, today when we need to think about the enviroment. How could Airbus not make a plane similair to the B787? Besides, neither of them makes turboprop planes. They both NEED to build jets, so there you go.
Of course, Boeing sets the standards...Airbus sits back in their offices in Europe probably eating an assorted variety of cheeses with seasoned Bordeaux wines relaxing and socializing. When Boeing has a new invention Airbus immediately seeing how they can add an extra feature or two to make it better. Look how long it took them to make something bigger than the B747...Almost 40 years! Facts speak more than words! Boeing all the way baby!!!
@jav1182 yeah the a380 is really heavy, with a huge wingspan (even compared to the 747-8) so its really not as superior as well any of the 747 varients! the 747-8 will be a lot better than the a380, the engines are easier to remove and service as they are seperated into 2 parts. the 747-8 can travel around the same range as the a380 and it can cruise at Mach 0.86 (0.01 faster than the a380). regardless of the smaller passenger volume in the 747 i still believe it will be very sucessful
@ConcordeCentral...Yeah, no doubt about that. What's even better is that the new B747-8 will have the same features as the B787...So everything inside the B747-8 will be completely hi-tech and modern...totally cutting edge!
@miiiikeh yeah but i think Airbus will need a lot more orders of the A380-800 before thinking about building the -900 as there are only a few airlines (that I know of) that wish to purchase somethig like the -900
@miiiikeh how is it a piece of shit if it's 10 percent lighter per seat and will consume 11 percent less fuel per passenger than the A380, translating into a trip-cost reduction of 21 percent and a seat-mile cost reduction of over 6 percent? hahahaha
uh, what i would think, i dont think they would be stupid enough to leave a danger just like that. there also should be a reason on WHY they made the wings like that in the first place.
The hype on the A380 is wearing off already. Pax are catching on to the fact that once inside the cabin, all widebodies look and feel the same. Being inside the largest plane in the sky does not mean that your Y class seat are also correspondingly large. I am rooting for the 747-8I. I think it has a gd chance of landing further sizable orders beyond Lufthansa and Korean Air.
@trent8002003 yeah it would take a while but lets be honest, the 747 doesnt need to prove itself. i recon after the first year or so in service once other airlines hear about how good it is and how worth the money it is the orders will keep going up, i believe that there are over 400 airports that can currently sustain the weight of the 747-8i as well
Great plane, It'll probably be much more successful, and the commercial variant (-8i) will probably get more orders once the first one flies and demonstrates it's economically efficient abilities.

The 747-400 weighs 406,900 lbs while the slightly heavier 747-8 weighs 472,900 lbs. The A380 weighs a whopping 610,000 lbs; that's 140,000 lbs heavier than the new 747.
ok then i was right, so at least if airports take on the 747-8 then they probably wont need to resurface as some will have had other large aircraft landing and taking off
yes definatly the elegant sweeping of the wings, the mean front view of the cockpit and nose, the modern engines and not forgetting the upstairs hump that made Boeing and the 747 famous!
yeah i guess the -8 is just an updated version of the -400 (as stupid as it sounds as we know it really is anyway) but i dnt think there was anything wrong with the -400 so boeing are just updating the -400 really

airbus is NEW boeing is since worldwar2 in the 60s boeing created b-747-100 the biggest jet in the world. n boeing created the first passenger jet plane with mcdonnel duglos. wait n see b-797
the 747 has revolved..beautifully..a very clever way to stretch the plane....rather than doing full length upper deck. after all its the "hump" - that gives the signature look for the 747, an indentity all its own. great job Boeing.
These idiots on Boeing don't know why people prefer to sit on an 747 than any other plane when there was no A380. It was because they felt like they were in the best and biggest luxurious commercial aircraft in the world. Now that the A380 has come these idiots still don't know what to do to compete except make some unnoticeable changes. If they want people to keep what the 747 was before the A380 defeated it, then they should finally complete the upper hump into a double deck.
Wow nice tribute, I love the 747-8

mikebagio 2 years ago
well there are mixed opinions but i do prefer the 747-8 to the a380

Me too mate...i love the nose on all boeings...beautiful hump
mikebagio 2 years ago
i mean the 747 EVOLVED, lol!!!!
breh760li 2 years ago
the 747 has revolved..beautifully..a very clever way to stretch the plane....rather than doing full length upper deck. after all its the "hump" - that gives the signature look for the 747, an indentity all its own. great job Boeing.
breh760li 2 years ago 3
yes and if i was boeing i wouldnt change it i would make a whole new plane with a full 2 decks the 747 just rocks
ConcordeCentral 2 years ago
747-8 is gonna be an amazing plane.
justkiddin08 2 years ago
yeah i really will love to fly on that
ConcordeCentral 2 years ago
These idiots on Boeing don't know why people prefer to sit on an 747 than any other plane when there was no A380. It was because they felt like they were in the best and biggest luxurious commercial aircraft in the world. Now that the A380 has come these idiots still don't know what to do to compete except make some unnoticeable changes. If they want people to keep what the 747 was before the A380 defeated it, then they should finally complete the upper hump into a double deck.
youtubkicksass 2 years ago
no they cant cause they donnot have the brains to complete the hump

GTAstuntman101 2 years ago
yeah it would look less whaley if it was longer
ConcordeCentral 2 years ago
the classic airframe of the 747 is less whalely than the A380,
GTAstuntman101 2 years ago
yeah but if you look at the a380 at a certain angle it looks amazing and the front view looks good as well but obv not as nice as the 747
ConcordeCentral 2 years ago
the 747-8 looks amazing from all angles.
