  • Téa Leoni's character's line "(Ed Ross) is bad business" could be better.

I hope they can do a voice-over and re-release, with say $3.00 for a mail in exchange of an original copy with purchase box and all.

  • I really thought the writing and Quaid's performance in this movie was too contrived. The sunglasses, while not an anachronism, really seemed a bit over the top. And the dialogue was too expository. I don't know if it's true or not, but it seemed like this movie was trying to get finished at the same time as Tombstone. The cast was good, but I think it needed more or different writers and a different director.

  • @BlueRonin44 Both movies are heavily fictionalized accounts. Tombstone goes for more of an epic "good vs bad" feel, whereas Wyatt Earp tries to be more realistic, but comes off as plodding at times. Given Holliday's money, background, and personality, the sunglasses are actually pretty acceptable, as is his manner of speech. What's truly interesting is the relationship between Wyatt and Doc; these were two men that most people didn't like, yet found friendship and understanding in each other.

  • doc is the cest ;D

  • i like it but val kilmer's performance as holliday can't be outdone

  • @mariomanningfan Quaid's performance is more accurate to what Holliday was really like. Kilmer's is entertaining, but nowhere remotely like what the accounts of Holliday says he was like. Basically, Holliday was said to be a real SOB who went out of his way to piss people off.

  • @mariomanningfan thats ughhh

  • Have you ever been to Georgia Wyatt Earp 3:03 ?

  • Ever since I saw this I felt the same way about friendship

  • Quaid's take on Doc is certainly more realistic but Kilmer's has more style, flash. Each performance was appropriate for the corresponding film. Kilmer's Doc would be completely out of place in 'Wyatt Earp' and Quaid's Doc would not fit in 'Tombstone.'

  • Is the guy playing Doc Holliday the same guy who played Johnny Ringo in Tombstone?

  • @dancinkindofguy no,....the man playing Doc is Denis Quaid. The guy who played Ringo in Tombstone is Michael Baine. I didnt mean to make anyone feel like an idiot but reading the cast does help. Thats how I do it...I have no life LOL

  • @Mhardysbitch They don't show the credits on these video clips.

  • @dancinkindofguy I know but I watch the credits on the movies a lot so i know who is who and it helps in little trivia games and bets and such.

  • @Mhardysbitch I was watching John Wayne's 'Chisum' which is a lousy movie and I've probably seen in 10 times before (I know, if I think it's a lousy movie, why have I seen it 10 times?) Anyway, I noticed the actor playing Billy the Kid's closest associate seemed familiar. Then I realized he looked like the guy who played Wyatt Earp on the StarTrek episode "Spectre of the Gun". I checked and sure enough, guy's name was Ron Soble.

  • @Mhardysbitch Biehn* ;)

  • @Robin360 Yeah i forgot the H..lol

  • fantastic dennis quaid !! the best doc !!

  • the best Quaid!!

  • great acting job from dennis quaid. the accent in his voice and the lazy eye make for a very unique character. i can almost imagine quaid doing the rumored (yet likely not the actual) last words of doc holiday. holiday died of tuberculosis in a bath, and before dying he allegedly realized the irony of dying with his boots off, instead of getting shot in a gunfight, which was most likely to happen, doc holiday laughed and said "damn, this is funny!"

  • from this one scene alone this seems MUCH more believable ,and realistic!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • kilmer made holiday cooler than earp thats the point? and quaid has always been a poor harrieson ford in anything he plays.

  • Wasn't Dave Rudabaugh one of Billy the Kid's sidekicks? Seems like he was portrayed by Christian Slater in Young Guns.

  • A scene about friendship and trust....

  • i like this one better too even tho both have great actors

  • Great dramatic scene. People compare Kilmer's portrayal to Quaids(Doc Holliday) and they're both different performances. Kilmer's SHOULD be more popular because its so flamboyant. Quaid's is spot on in terms of realistic. The fact of the matter is based on my readings, both films fail to accurately depict the real life Wyatt Earp(Although Costner tries to authenticate it).

  • kilmer rules this is shit

  • @piepiemushroom

yea this is true. i saw tombstone two days ago...val kilmer's performance was literally the best act i have ever seen. makes johnny depp's pirate look like shit.

this isnt THAT bad, but u have to realize that doc holliday died when he was 36 or so...this doc holliday is way too old looking. lol.

  • @jsbeard18 Amazing how two people can see things completely different. I thought Val Kilmer's performance was the worst I've seen in a long time, but Dennis Quaid's was one of the best.

  • @ainulindale1227 Val Kilmer's performance was excellent. i don't know your system on how to rate performances but... wow.

  • @MaestroHusky My system is this: Am I convinced this actor is who he's playing. Val Kilmer's Doc Holiday = Absolutely not.

  • @piepiemushroom - Val Kilmer did play a good Doc, but Dennis Quaid played the real Doc Holliday, just so you know

  • I like this one much more than Tombstone. It was trash. But something about Kilmer's Doc Holliday was so wonderful. I can't choose who the better Doc was. But this was clearly the better movie.

  • awesome acting and very historicaly accurate hence the slower pace of the movie as opposed to tombstone

  • I myself was a dentist, I was proud to be a dentist, i did not hide the fact I was a dentist..how are your teeth wyatt earp?

  • Awesome acting by Costner and Quaid

This is easily one of the most underrated movies of all time

  • @wolfpackleaderalpha I agree. I don't understand why this film was so trashed. Who knows, probably some Hollywood political BS or something. Quaid deserved an Oscar nomination for this one. He's been passed over a few times. Wel....they can all kiss his rebel........

  • @wasteland70 - Back in "The Day", Tombstone was seen by critics as being "bloated". This movie is even longer. Even movies critics like, if they run over two hours, they'll still comment about it being too long. Costner using his influence in an attempt to get other studios from distributing Tombstone after quitting the project didn't go over to well either.

The performances (no matter which movie you prefer) speak for themselves. This isn't a sport. Awards validate nothing but egos.
