  • Had my 848 for 3 years now...20,000miles. Awsome bike. Only thing lacking for me is a bit more grunt out of the corners compared with 1198 (if we can compare these two)...so he's got it slightly wrong there. Gotta really rev it, which is hard in slow corners coz 1st gear is pretty useless.

  • I'm 6'4" 240 and I fit on the bike... I use it as a race bike tho... something about sportbikes you need to get use to is none of them are comfy on the road

  • In the past the 749/748 was simple a re-displaced 999/998... the chassis was the same, the 848 has different forks, shock, brakes... people got use to the smaller Duc being the same as the big boy but less power now the 848 is sort of it own bike... I have 1 and I love it, huge step from the 749, fantastic bike

  • is the 848 faster than my 2002 r6?

  • yes

  • cool cheers

  • @HITMAN45742 yeah.

  • would this fit someone who is 5 foot 11? also, whats the max weight a person can ride this bike?

  • yes ur just about the perfect hight max wirght probs 160kg

  • id rather have a yamaha r1 over the ducati 848 to its faster but not over the 1098 or 1198

  • As an 848 owner who came from a GSXR 600, your logic makes no sense.

  • @M3Inline6 how does it make no sense i just said id rather have an r1 rather than an 848 but not over a 1198

  • lol your wack

  • i gree with you, but have you riden the ducati? because when i did the sound made so much more sense! always as a by-stander i would say the jap engines evey time but when riding the ducati wins!

  • Japenese bikes sound like my moms sewing machine, ( no offense. :) ) The Duc's have it.

  • only the best..... ducati

  • if you buy a ducati you buy it bc you are a fan of thsoe bikes, clearly its not a bargain lol. They are beautiful bikes. If youre looking for straight raw power or speed you can get an r1, or a cbr1000rr for even a busa for about 1000 less give or take. Given all that i love the 848 and ducati in general. That girl is so hot at the beginning

  • thats not the only reason to buy ducati! ducati make their bikes with qaulity and endurance in mind! (i only found his out yesterday) the ducati's service times are 12000km apart! and the engine will out last the japanes bikes ride for ride. i love the technology in the jap bikes and the stats you get from the litre engines but they ware out quicker. and even the litre jap bikes don't compere to the low end torque of the 848, it honestly just takes off from low end rpm.

  • you're completely right. do you have an 848 too or own another ducati?

  • no unfortunately i don't own one yet :-(. but i went to a test day last sunday and i will be buying one soon!! i was very impressed with the 848 and in England they are only £2000 or so more than the 600 jap sportbikes and i think worth it!

    (btw i own the bandit 650s k6).

  • yeah here in the u.s its about 3k more or at least was when i got mine in 2008 lol. i think they raised it to $14k now for the exact same bike, go figure lol. you wont be disappointed at all its the best bike ive ever been on.

  • i don't like the noise of it

  • i think thats bcuz u like dick up the azz

  • I just cant understand why everyone keeps comparing the 848 to the 1098. You never hear of anyone comparing a 600's power to a 1000 unless its a complement to the 600, so why do people continue to knock the 848 because its not as powerful as the 1098. It just makes no sense, instead say something more useful, like how the tubular chasis compares to the other jap fours, I've had a CBR600RR and want to know everything about a twin, they keep catching my attention.Compare the 848 to the 600's!

  • Well, the 1098 was the first in the family of the new Superbikes. I for one think it's sorta natural to compare the 848 to the 1098/1198.

  • @Assjanitor2 couldn't agree more.

  • @Assjanitor2 if you listen, he was comparing the calipers on the 848 to the 1098 not the motor...

  • @hamme2jf

Hey, hey, good one. Good one, really ! If you were litterate, you would've read that I said nothing about them comparing anything specific; but rather a generalized statement about comparing the two PERIOD (with the exception of $). I said as an example (keyword there Buddy), that you never hear anyone comparing UP a class, unless it's a complement to the lower class. Maybe brainstorm a little before typing without thinking... DIck. P.S. way to comment on a 2 year old post Sport ;-)

  • @AssHat2: Ok dipstick, please just off yourself. ( preferably BEFORE you manufacture spawn ;-) ) You said in your, oh-so-attentive-to-detail-post two years ago, "so why do people continue to knock the 848 because its not as powerful as the 1098". Then you turn around and claim, " I said nothing about them comparing anything specific". -- derp That seemed to be a very specific generalized statement. Also, a statement that suggested that you misheard the guy in the video. You go tough guy! :-*

  • i don't mind the ducati 848's but i don't understand how they can put them in the same class as the 600's with that much more of an engine.

  • Because it has 2 cylinders. A 600cc inline-4 has more power than a 600cc L-2.

  • It's not a 600 Shootout, it's a Supersport Shootout.

  • I'm on a older Ducati 748 - and I've been riding a long time mates: old British bikes: Norton, Triumph, Vincent, BSA; Japanese bikes: Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda; and I'm telling you my 748 is the sweetest ride I've ever had. I'm NOT talking about sheer power (though she has PLENTY) I'm talking road feel, handling/cornering stability & the intersection of aggressive acceleration with super-tight maneuverability. And I commute on this bike most days. I LOVE my commute. Questions? Ride one.

  • what a lame.... if u dont like ducati.. its coz ur problably radding a honda cb750...lololol thats easy to ride... if u want to ride a R bike... u will have to know how to drive.... that the reason number 1 for accidents.... lames with high horse power....

  • i think im inlove

  • blah, blah, blah i heard enough bout the racetrack bullshit. so how bout on the street? do u think u can compare this against 4cyl japs. if im not mistaken, most of the japs are good on racetrack as well on the street and also a lil bit on touring. as for everyday use like going to work, around town/city and touring is this a good bike? cuz im still thinking bout gettin 848.

  • yea its as good or even better than some jap bikes u see on the street. but who would race on the street? its a lot dangerous. nd this bike gives a plus on looks and appeal than jap bikes.

  • u ryt,i know wat u talkin bout man. this "big pussy magnet ride" gets a lot of attention specially for the haters out there, but this bike was made more on "racing" im jst wondering how it handles the everyday traffic, commuting to wrk, in short its worth it for everyday use. u see wat im talkin bout.its not about racing on the street, nah im too young 2 die. lol. anyway thanks for gud helpful feedback man. i can make love wit this bike jst like the hottie in dat video.

  • haha kool. idk. im not sure on how much this bike eats gas. prolly similar to jap bikes. but watever. so you getting this bike soon or wuh?

  • i dont know man, i mean i dont mind gettin this one BUT the fcukin insurance man damn....well lets see nxt summer.u have no idea how much i want this bike. how bout u?

  • nawh. im getting a 1098.. in three years haha

  • It's less i think than a regular jap bike.

  • u gotta be kidding me man, but i hope ur ryt (crossed my fingers)

  • 2009 = 14k

  • It's like 50 mpg i think

  • The 848 won't be as comfortable as something like a 600RR on the street for most folks.

On the street, performance is irrelevant. Except the new 600RR will have ABS which is great for unknown road conditions.

  • im 6'2" would i have a problem with this bike?

  • No, just adjust the rear sets on the bike a bit backwards. Jump on the Ducati at your local dealer for a feel of the bike, that's the best way to know if you'll have any problems with it.

  • Ducati...is there really any other substitute?? No...

  • jennifer love hewitt's ass on my face.

  • does the ducati 848 only come in white?

  • it comes in red also.

  • cuz ducati dont take no mess from nobody lol

  • why don't they make the same sizes as other bike companies?

  • It's not pronounced "Ducarti" it's "Ducati" you prat.

  • So I should just buy one now...

  • I'm going to keep up to date on this subject now.

  • I guess thats actually good so they sell more here, lol

  • maybe, but would you want a harley-engineered MV?

  • Hell no, It would be like a 70's MV all over again. LOL

  • He say's that first gear is to two low. Now is that b/c they are testing a bike that has the opt race gearbox in it? or is that the stock gearbox?

  • I love ducati! I love this video! 5 stars!

  • It doesn't seem fair that they are comparing a 848 against the 600's, at least for power anyways. Can't they try to put it against some bikes in it's class instead. It seem like Ducati always gets to bring in a bigger bike and then brag about how much power it has in comparison to the other bikes. It's cheap if you ask me.

  • Because its a V twin idiot. vs an inline 4that the Japanese bikes have. Since the ducs have two less cylinders, they get to have more cc's. Maybe you should read a little about the bikes before making comments.

  • The rotating assembly should still be lighter then if it was a single (singles are the only engines that have a real disadvantage because of the way the rotating assembly have to be made). So on the technical side of things it still isn't a "fair" comparison. Do they get away with it just becasue thats the way the rules are set up?

  • I'm telling you something, the twins get to have more cc than the 4's because the 4's got shorter stroke to bore ratio and that gives it higher revs that gives more HP. That is why the twins need more cc, bigger strokes means torque shorter means HP! It is a fair comparison!

  • fucking idiot!! Its a 2 cylinder compared to an inline 4 cylinder

  • On the technical side of things it doesn't matter that the Japanese bikes have four cylinders, their still behind on cc's. your gonna have to give me a better reason then just calling me a fucking idiot because that doesn't help, and if u can't do that then back off.

  • And they dont compare 848s with 600s its just fun.

  • Cool bike,Nice color. The only bad thing i see about this bike is,its not a ninja. And MV just looks good.Anyway 1000cc owns that bike but,I wouldnt mind having one.

  • MV AGUSTA OWNS THESE THINGS

  • AGUSTAS R SLOW PIECES OF SHIT

  • you know nothing about this bike then dont you ive used to have a agusta now i got a ducati and to me ducati can blow you off if your not carefull

  • yep, but MV Agusta doesn't have the publicity it deserves and too bad fucking Harley Davidson is buying the entire MV Agusta corporation.

  • Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • I learned on a Ducati 750 Monster and still riding it now. The 620 or 695 probably would have been a better starter bike IMO, but riding always came naturally to me. Don't get me wrong, I took msf like 2 weeks later so I could get my license. I recommend taking that first, or at least getting frame sliders or a stunt cage if you dont wanna mess up your bike.

  • get one of the new 250 ninja's. They are really cool looking and perfect starter bike. Not to mention also quite affordable.

  • Just dont get a bike as your main port of transportation ride it for fun!

  • i luv bikes soo much, but the thing is IM SOO FUCKING SCARED TO RIDE ONE (I KNW IM LAME) i could buy a ducati right now, but how the fuck should i overcome my fear??

  • wow u really have an issue! never heard of such a problem really. Perhaps you should realize that all the guys who love riding bikes are scared of it but thats the fun of it. You are afraid of it but you know its a thrill and you CAN control it.

But have in mind these guys have been doing this for some time. When you get your bike, take it easy they can handle in mysterious ways and they can react very violently given the power to weight ratio. So join a motorcycle club that can help ya!

  • Just by one, and trust me you will overcome your fear!!

  • take a riding class..they start u off on 125cc's....I learned on a 250cc dirt bike.

  • do no go out and buy a ducati. Please. Learn on something small. Supersports might not be as fast as a literbike, but they can corner so fast, just learn on something small, then if you want to spend a lot of money buy a ducati. Please.

  • take the msf course. nuff said

  • lol if u get a ducati u'll shit ur pants man, get some riding experience first, and if ur scared to ride a bike, u shouldnt b riding em

  • i love the big tiwns. nice broad flat power. jap bikes to me are to peaky, like a 2 stroke.

  • There are japanese v-twins as well... take for example the RC51 from Honda, a great bike and defeated ducati in it's time!

  • @pmugen - Excellent point, just ask Colin Edwards how badass that bike was!

  • aye aye aye!!!......(scratching head) do you guys not understand that just because the CC is 250 more, that it doesn't mean its at an advantage? listen to what he says in the vid "its a little flat up top" DUH!! VTWIN DUH!!...but there far more technical reasons why its allowed......either way, I still prefer a high revving Japanese bike with sick top end!

  • I don't know why so many people don't understand why its allowed 250 extra cc's. there's comments on almost every 848 video saying, "its not fair, extra cc's not fair." I mean I guess people will always just talk about stuff that they just don't have information or know about.

  • I love it!

  • the 848 is a supersport bike you ditz but no its not a middleweight i agree it shouldn't be tested with the 600s seeing as how it has 250 extra cc's

  • CC don't matter, its a twin..it makes similar power to the 600 I-4s.

  • Power as in top end right? In shorter twistier tracks doesn't the ducati's twin cylinder have an advantage since its power is produced at lower rpm?

  • very true point, and it gets its power quicker at a lower point

  • yeah, with less cylinders, you are allowed more CC's. That's why back when Superbike was 750cc, Honda raced the 1000cc RC51 along with the Ducati 996/8. Now the superbike class is 1000cc, and the 2 cylinders are allowed up to 1300 I believe, since the 1098R is bored out to 1200cc.

  • is allowed up to 1200cc

And the 999 won a lot with 1000cc when 4 cylinders were allowed to have 1000cc too.

Ducati choose to make a 1200 couse superbike wont let Ducati Use the Desmosedici in superbike, couse that should be funny...a motogp in SBk that starts with 200 Hp

  • @shallowrocker09 - They have to test it with the 600 Supersport class, there's nothing else to compare it to besides the GSXR750 and the 600s. The 750 class is gone, so the 848 is raced in the Daytona Sportbike class because it's allowed in that class as a twin w/ more displacement, but it is a sub par race package compared to 600cc, 4cyl race bikes. If the Superbike class were still 750cc, the 848 never would have been produced because they'd be racing 999 or 1098 in that class.

  • Ducati 848 a supersport?? What's next? the gixxer 750?

  • 848, dont have a class is nto a super sport either the gixxer 750
