The deal with the lawsuit will either replace your laptop, or reimburse you for money spent on repairs. As I did all the repairs myself, there's very little reimbursement cost; and as I did the repairs myself, I'm not sure it's even worth sending back anymore.

Is your screen totally off or do you have a faint image. I have a faint image on mine I have switched the inverter because I know the cfl bulb works but now am stuck gonna check for dodgy connections tonight.

i have the same problem. first off, you may think its not the video card, but the reason its not booting is because the video card is linked with mother board, and it wont start up without it properly working. the GPU unit the placed in it overheats easily, and eventually smolders off placement. this video helped me so much. please watch it and try it =)...hope i helped

The TX1000 is the largest shit which HP ever built!

I hatte only problems! Gpu? becomes much too hot by the bad cooling!

I bought the Acer Aspire 1420P-233G25n and run it perfectly :-)

I LOVED this laptop when it WORKED!!!! but 1st i lost the wi-fi( like everyone) then when i would try to turn it on and the lights would light up for like 5 secs then it would shut down(like 1600+ other people) now it will turn on but there will be nothing on the screen. there is a petion online to get reimburst for our laptops there are over 1600 signatures on it but HP fails to reconize it is there mothereboard, nuvida, and the laptop overheating. DO NOT GET THIS LAPTOP

to get some more life out of it, you can let it cool off plug it in and start it without the battery, blow out the vents, and use a fan. It it crashes and won't start hit "f11" while it boots and do a "system restore" it will not harm your files. Then I suggest buying an external hard drive to back up your work, the go shopping for a new laptop. like I did.

it's been fried, it was even sent back to up for repairs and all they did was replace the harddrive. My files were gone long before that though. Hp will not acknowledge this problem with the tx series.

i fixed this problem by installing windows xp pro on my tx1000 it use to heat up very fast but not any more but having trouble finding audio driver that works with xp

i had the same problem ,what i did was pull out the battery and press on for a few seconds.put the battery back and on it.. it works fine for me :) | this laptop heats up very fastt -.-'

Same here. Search for a video on youtube: "HP tx1000 no boot / black screen / motherboard repair" they show you how to fix it.

Temporarily it might be solved by pressing very hard at around the enter key when turning on.

I'm assuming most any USB external drive would work for you. My notebook was 250GB - if you get a 500GB external you should be able to get everything and then some
