  • lots of people failing with their game... either they are jumping too high or walking too fast... I wonder why no one see this problem and just change the value of speed and jump

  • How did you make the charakter move? In my games, he is changing the position, but he does not move ... Do I have to insert a command to display a "walking"-animation or is there an easier way?

  • FPS creator is like this. Only not as fun or challenging. and the fact that you can't really texture things. just use the stuff they have. Nice work!

  • Why do people learn other programming languages that isn't real or should i say not popular. Well Dark GDK IS popular but like C++ or C or JAVA. Im comfused. There are too much languages and I dont know which one to learn. I tried C but it is too hard and C++ was easy at first but then I got stuck and my head blows up. I dont get it. Im only 14 and all the tutorials are impossibly hard and i fucking want to be a game maker.HELP

  • @gaggerzon This is quite a late response, but game creation takes a lot of practice. It's not something that you can master overnight nor through a mere tutorial (even though it helps). It takes a lot of time and patience, and frankly any lack of those two will hold you back. Being a game creator takes large amounts of trial and error practice. Yes, it's hard -- that's why these people are payed through the roof for doing it.

    My advice: take time to practice, be patient, and have an open mind.

  • @gaggerzon Mind me but if you want to do 3D work please stay away from Java.

    Java is coming around but its still not quite fast enough for 3D games.

    C++ is like the improved version of C.

    C++ is really hard to wrap your head around (Object Orented Programming is a nightmare).

    You could try out the Python programming language with the Pygame addon.

    Its simple to learn and still pretty powerful. Still not ready for 3D games unfortunitly.

  • @9811142809 I am not sure what NFS is but DarkGDK is just a library for C++ that makes it a LOT easier to do 2D and 3D programming.

    If you possess the skills to you can make ANY kind of game.

    The only limit is your imagination. :-)

  • I have very simple and easy tutorials to start c++ game programming using dark gdk. it is good to know the fundementals of dark gdk first so that is why I make them. be sure to check them out!!!

  • i'll say yes blender is possible to use too to make models (i havent used blender much, i preffer maya (but only got 3ds max myself)) but maya and 3ds goes both under autodesk company very good modelling software :) what books did you guys use to learn c++ i bought a danish ordered a danish book today, but i think i need some english too, because of c++ is mostly english, (im from denmark)

    all you need to do is get a point x converter free

    1. can I have both the source code and that model, it would help me a lot?

    2. Can I use any other Half Life model in the same way?(BTW, what format was that model exported to?

    is it .X/.3ds)

  • it is a simple vector interpolation between two location. like this

    this allow camera looks like moving with inertia.

  • first of all its not that hard to make model move on a map that was already made and he just used it (it weas included in dark GDK samples (tutorials)) .

    but still pretty good if you just started out.

    Keep making and maybe you will make a good game someday
