  • Why does some tard always compare overated & under talented shit from today with real performers??? There are real performers about these days, but they rarely get known (aka top 40 ) cos they dont do dance videos or make rap crap...sigh. Pat Benatar blows Madge/Katy /Brittany /Jessica etc out of the water .Doesnt need 50 dancers or fake lesbianism to do it either :)) I'll bet you'd find a hell of a lot more ppl know the words to her songs than anything from the pop shit today

  • 80's icon for sure.

  • We live and learn from our mistakes..

The deepest cuts are healed by faith..

    YES.

  • @bloodtears1821 I think you got it figured out.

  • you cannot compare them. Madonna was always pop but Pattie was always rock. Rock Rules say no more

  • I think Madonna and Benatar are totally different. Pat Benatar led the way for female rockers and she is a gifted singer and female rocker who is performing now at age 57 and still incredible. I saw Pat last nite at Mohegan Sun and she rocked the place. We should all thank Pat and Joan Jett for leading the way for female rockers.

  • @MaryWr1124 - Pat and Ann Wilson. Joan is behind these two great singers!

  • Benatar ROCKS!!!!

  • Just posted the new cover version of this song on website at Russ Aimz dot com

  • im turning into one of those weird 40-something ladies who hear the music from their high school days and go, "Oh this was an exxceellllent song!!" lol

but it's still a great song..

  • she an will be the first lady of rock

  • IN MY BOOK SHES THE FIRSTLADY OF ROCK.

  • @robhsmi - AMEN!

  • you cant compare madonna to benatar

  • Well.. I would say the voice that is the closest to Pat Benatar today would probably be Kelly Clarkson.. Kelly isn't even close with the Atitude or the rock edge that Pat Benatar has.

  • she is the classiest woman in rock and roll!

  • never has a video matched the song less. Pat sings with such passion that you can year the grunts yet on this video everyone just seems to stand around playing with their hair.

  • @9001tank geez man, spare us your bullshit.

  • psycho.

  • @9001tank .......Psycho.

  • It's amazing that back when this video came out, big-hair bands were trying to showboat what bad-ass rockers they were.

Then, along comes Ms. Benatar with this song, & in a very simple manner,

shows what true rock'n'roll badassery really looks like.

  • If you don't think this Goddess of Rock is the best female lead singer than you don't know Rock n Roll. Not to mention Sexy as Hell...Thanks for the memories Pat.

  • She is good.....but Sandi Saraya is better.....check out Saraya.....if you had not heard of them....

  • @bostonphan68 - check out Benatar's "You Better Run" video. No one can sing a tune like that! Full frontal vocal attack with multi octave range belting!

  • Aww, i remember her long hair.. i like it however she has it but she looks great in this vid ;)

  • Yea,This is more like it.Pat got back to hard rockin' on this one. What album is this from? ddoes the whole album pretty much have this kind of feel to it?

  • Myron is a MONSTER!!!

  • man she can sing and especially with this song i"ve always like this song never get get tired of it now that's what you call a true fan no matter how old the song is and she a beautiful woman and amazing rock on PAT BENATAR

  • Amen to that. Pat is a Legend, I also will never tire of her Music.

  • i LOVE it when she opens her concerts with this song!!

    i'm 13...and i've been to 3 concerts.

    2 front row- center

    2 guitar picks

1 guitar pick thrown at me by neil

    HAHA

  • awsome song :)

  • Apparently not according to Farnarkel1 from a month ago, Pat covered this track ? It would be nice to know the truth, but I cannot reach anyone who really knows. Did you give Rattling Sabres a listen ???

  • Farnarkel1 is incorrect. This song was written by Benatar and her husband. I've followed the women for too many years to know this. Try again!

  • it's not on the live from earth album it was on the awake from dreamland album which came out in 88 Pat covered the ratteling sabres some may confuse it with years of release being they are so close

  • yep the people at our billboards were smoking crack to put this at #28 why the fuck do we even have charts anyways they don't know dick about what we like. my idea of charts is having a feature song by that artist and we vote on it most votes get top positions

if we had that past songs would be in higher or lower positions but no matter the number it doesn't make them more or less awesome

  • This chick rocks. But of course I came up before the days of "chick bands". Back then we just accepted them as rock bands, because they rocked.

  • First recorded at Powerplant studios Carlton Australia 1987 by Rattling Sabres produced by Criston Barker then covered by Pat Benata written by Kerryn Tolhurst ex Dingoes

  • farnarkel1- Research online or pick up a CD at your local store- Benatar and her husband wrote this song. Try again!

  • this song just plain out rocks

  • I did not know this was a cover...... Rattling Sabres 1987 ??? check it out.

  • I think that the Rattling Sabres actually covered Pat, not the other way around, this came out around '83 i think.

  • It is one of those things I read, I really do not know ? But I would like to know, The songs are not worded exactly the same, Who covered Who ????

  • carpetcle- Benatar and her husband wrote this song. Songwriting credits are on the CD as well.

  • Pat covered one song and ONLY one song and she covered John Mellencamp's "I need a lover(that wont drive me crazy") and that's it

  • @freebird1974

the cover of kate bush's wuthering heights on the 1980 Crimes of Passion album doesn't count then?

pat benatar's official fan website gives writing credits to

    "Written by: P.Giraldo, M.Grombacher & K.Tolhurst"

which to me suggests that the song was originally wriitten by Kerryn Tolhurst and then lyrics changed slightly by Benatar's camp to suit her better.

  • Didn't know that, I stand corrected

  • makes my cry knowing this was her late hit:(

I thought sh'e go on forever:( Back in the day.

    Just plan ass prefect rock!

  • Pat Benatar is awesome!

  • Such a great song. Pat Benatar rocks.

  • hey flan 26

this song was written in mid 90's by aussie pub rock band 'Rattling Sabres"

    cheers

    chief

  • I had no idea. Thanks for enlightening me.

    I'll check out the original.

  • chiefsstudent...

you do realize Pat Benetar released this song in 1988

so I think this pub band took it from her!

  • a great cover of a top Aussie pub rock bands song well done pat

  • Wait - a cover?

Who are you claiming wrote this song?

  • originally done by the Rattling Sabres a year prior, check it out on here. Pat changed many of the lyrics but both are great versions!

  • Awsome !

  • great song. good to play before a football game.

  • Or during half time performed by the Cheerleaders

  • one of my all time favs.time to get the party started.saw her in the early 80s.billy squire opened up for her.vancouver,bc.she can rock with the best.

  • Pats music was awesome an this is her best song......Gotta love that BUtt of hers lol

  • Pat Rocks!!!!!!!!!

  • This song shoulda won the Grammy for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance because of it's message.People don' neva pay attention to lyrics. They're just interested in the beat. And they wonder why the world is the way it is.

  • awesomee song

    gets me fired up

    haha:P

  • Pat won four consecutive Best Female Rock Vocalist Grammys. So, who ROCKS, Pat does, that's who

  • Comment removed

  • I could picture myself just jammin to this tune as I piss on boyd coddingtons grave...and then I could replay it and dig down to his coffin and shit on his him,I could also use his decaying face as toilet paper...then I could send a video to his widow and children as a christmas present.....

  • boyd coddington is a single dimensional asshole who took credit for custom cars that he didnt build or design......he is dead and thats good,I hope his entire family feels pain and dies also..........

  • I am really happy that boyd coddington is dead......I hope his death was slow and painful, and I also hope that his entire family suffered severly.

  • Ummm, who?

  • i have seen them all and if you want to compare talent and vocal prowress there are only three women that rate, Pat Benatar, Cyndi Lauper and Anne Wilson. While Madonna is entertaining she couldn't hold a candle to either of the women i just mentioned. Pat was the original multi octave voice in rock, Cyndi has amazing paasion and grace and Anne Wilson (Heart) sang with as much balls as any man i have ever heard, she can do Led Zepplin better than Robert Plant and i saw Led Zepplin 4 times.

  • Ann Wilson over anyone except possibly Martina McBride....but even that I'm not sure.....

  • Exactly! I mean, I do like Madonna and she IS talented. But she doesn't ROCK. Her music is pop. She doesn't ROCK. Pat, Cyndi, and Anne all rock.

  • in mid summer put the windows down and put your foot down awsome

  • Love this song so much!!!

  • Im in a band that plays "Hit me with your best shot"...I am BEGGING them to drop that and play this tune...I think Im getting to them....GREAT tune

  • any Benatar song is a good song ive been a fan since she came out in the late 70s and ive never heard a bad song from her

  • Yeah! Thx ^^

  • Fuck Madona no Talent wacked out Cunt

  • Madonna. vs. Benatar? You guys are comparing apples to oranges. No doubt both are very talented Artist. However, when it comes to Rock and Roll...very few artist are in Pat Benatar's league.

  • @twebb63 i'd go for Pat Benetar any how! She's got the grove! I've seen her in concert! Madana is okay, but lacking something in her music- no offense- just my point of view!

  • my fav song by her!!! she is such a awesome singer

  • omg, i loved this album so much & played it nearly every day back in c1989, specially "too long a soldier" xx

  • this bitch can rock

  • i luv this song xx

  • Great stuff...love the way Geraldo's guitar "sprays" through the song..

  • Pat used to play clubs here in Richmond, VA.

  • In her prime she blows away Madonna.

  • She always has, and she always will. People say Madonna is an icon. No, Pat is an icon and she's much more badass!

  • oh Pat is waaaaaaaay better

  • rightttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt I guess that's why Madonna has sold over 100 million albums, is the most successful female entertainer of all time. Has the top grossing tour of all time, has the most top 10 hits. Because she sucks.

  • Woah there, I never said Madonna sucks. I like Madonna. I'm just saying that I feel like Pat is a very underrated artist when she really deserves to be praised for her talent.

No need to get defensive. I have no problem with Madonna. I like her music, but I much prefer Pat. Calm down.

  • you both shut up, and suck my cock ;P

  • @GodChristLord one her worst day, pat blows madonna off the planet.

  • I love all of her songs, but this is one of my favs! As an old 80's chick I have been a Benatar fan for MANY years and I think she is amazing!

  • Pat and the boys at their best

  • this is the song that big w strathpine plays when they make budget

  • I used to have this album at one time, think one of my mates must have borrowed it on a non-return basis.

  • fucken brilliant

  • Great Song! and Video....Damn gets me fired up!....Pat Benatar one of the best 80's female Rockers!

  • pat benatar rocks no matter what! she is an amazing woman who rocks this little hillbilly world!

  • great song love it

  • This is her BEST song! always gets me stoked!

  • i couldn't agree more! "the deepest cuts are healed by faith" is a phenomenal quote! i love this song!!!

  • Cool. I wasn't sure, but the guy "attacks" the drums the same way, so i kind of thought it might be him...

  • always thought that was mickey diamond(mx rider) on drums cos of the wolf head tattoo, any1 kno if it was then post it! D

  • I know that a guy named Myron Grumbacher was her drummer for a long time.I don't know if that's him or not in this vid.If it is, he really grew his hair...

  • That is Grombacher.

  • Certainly is - I know him really well. He decided to go all out in the late 80s and get himself a wild hair style, unlike his conservative hair style earlier in the decade. He says he "jumped on the bandwagon" with Neil and the others, going a little bit more rockier with that sort of cut!

  • classic!! gets even better the louder you play it .Get some cool rock babes like this on those crap x factor type shows.

  • this one of those songs that must be played loud!!!!

  • yeahh i agree =]

  • I always used to want one of those denim jackets with the "Wide Awake in Dreamland" album cover on the back, as you will see in the video...

  • Good stuff. This is my shit. Benetar rocked, check that rocks. I'm a dude, but we never considered Heart or Benetar to be a "chick band", they were both just a band that rocked, that happened to have a chick in the band.

  • Summer 1988, Baby! Great days! She's seriously working the big 80's hair here!

Hopefully someone can find the follow-up video, "Don't Walk Away". That's one of her best, yet forgotten songs!
