cause there is always a substitute, in case any of the other 8 players get injured. That year Canias was the reserve. I heard the reserve gets 40 grands just to ("watch") be the reserve.
wow. What's so ironic about that double-bagel scoreline is that Gaudio has won the French, but Roger has yet to. I just think there's so much irony in that.
Very true. That's why I hope Nadal can win some other Slams besides the French, because then it shows how limited he is. Nadal did well to reach the Wimbledon final, but that might be hard to duplicate. And as for Gaudio, I don't know what happened. It seems he no longer has the drive to succeed.
Who's truly a gentleman both in and out of the court it's Tim Henman. Never seen such a wonderful player like him.

Cañas must have been there to potentially replace injured players.

How come Canas is in there? I thought it was the top 8 players, and even the announcer said so but there are 9 in the line up.

first, it's Coria, not Cañas and second it's because one of the other players dropped out.

"it's Coria, not Cañas"
What? Can't you see Cañas in the lineup? He's next to Gaudio and has a red tie.

i think this was the first tournament after Fed cut his hair right?

Sorry, no it wasn't. My bad. I was thinking about the 2005 one in Shanghai where Federer won 6-0, 6-0.

yes but the masters is hard court and gaudio plays much better on clay.

Federer destroyed Gaudio on clay when he beat him.
pokenova 4 years ago
when was that?
garramiro 4 years ago
My bad — he didn't totally destroy him. Gstaad 2003, Federer won 6-1 7-6(6). Hamburg 2006, Federer won 6-1, 5-7, 6-4.
pokenova 4 years ago
federer didnt play hamburg in 2006. robredo won it. federer was pulling out so did nadal and others.

It must have been 2005, sorry. Must have made a typo — you're right, I remember watching Robredo crush Stepanek in that final. :D

This is 2005.
