@obezana do you think that the pressure of the water mass inside the cup is even comparable to the pressure by the insect weight, you fuckin moron?? the trick is actually possible but it depends on the water mass and the cup size.... try looking for a 4 mm high cup and it might work... also the centrifugal force resulting from the twisting makes it even harder for the surface tension force to over come the other forces. If you don't know your physics, don't mention it.

@obezana Oh yeah then explain how the centripetal force and gravitational force is negated. The problem comes from the forces acting on the water and water tension is almost negligible here. Besides if this were real there would be tons of people who would have been able to do it and posted their vids on youtube already. The suspended water trick only works when the surface is completely dry around the cup and with distilled water at room temperature. Hope that helps it took me and a friend twenty tries.

The table has to be completely dry. use your fingertips to grab the very bottom of the glass and try to lift straight up. If your still to jittery smoke a lot of weed and it will calm your nerves allowing you to move as little as possible. if this doesnt work try shrooms, it will make it look like its working.

I know its CGI because one of us in the video is a computer games designer and can produce this trick in 3ds max, also check out more videos from the same person on the original video, hes very good at 3d animations that are much more complex than liquid with no cup, we did this video for a laugh...simple as! and and btw 1:20 shows pretty much a perfect lift and twist.

The water trick is based on what is called in physics "surface tention". So if you want to have any chance to do it, you must:

a) Disturb the water the least possible (e.g. no bubbles inside).

b) Disturb the surface of the water the least possible. (e.g. no waves on the top, be quick when you remove the cup etc.)

c) Give a spin to add an extra force.

You just messed up all of those... so for you it didn't work.

a) Not use real water (e.g. no water inside)

b) Pantomime real water (e.g. cut away from the initial shot of real water to a later shot)

c) Do another take with no water to apply cg to.

@lotusjasmin The surface tension of water is a very weak force. It is overcome by the water pushing outward due to gravity. Also, bubbles have to go into the cup for the water to come out. The trick is completely impossible so stop lecturing on how to perform it correctly.
