  • this is what happens when lego collides with the real world

  • aaffffffffffffff

  • How much time does the render takes?

  • @PoliomanGamer days hahaha

  • this was awsome, you should make a whole movie based on this video

  • Thanks :) I wouldnt go that far though lol, an invasion is always a great concept but an invasion with no destruction/fighting/conflict doesnt sound as fun :P

  • ha this is terrible

  • Thanks er... floppydick

  • @SeeDoubleYouUK Sorry mate. That was Harvey, we own this account together. He is a noob lol, he couldn't do any better. I like it anyway... :) Thanks

    -Nick

  • @FloppyDickNation Calm down atleast he tried

  • @TheMissle21 Cheers for the backup, I did try lol, and its not my job, nor is it something I do in my spare time, it was created after afew classes! Could of been a lot worse lol...

  • spaceships don't need to b aerodynamic

  • @banebreaker3 Until they enter the earths atmosphere, like these did

  • wow greta man im unsure on the process of key frames in c4d everytime i try it fails :C

  • cool. what's the title of the music you use?

  • hey, what's the name of the music you use? thanks.

  • @Daxlight the music is Leftfield - Dub Gussett, a link is under the video to buy it from iTunes

  • @SeeDoubleYouUK thanks dude!

  • @SeeDoubleYouUK thanks dude!

  • people dont get 3d doesnt mean thigns are gonna jump out at u it means it has dimensions fuck me

  • hahahah really nice man ! :))

  • yea sick for that long ago

  • great for 4 years ago.

  • heya 3 almost 4 years now, hope you have improve skills and maych real vid with 3D keep on getting better you can earn good money with it, and with good histories

  • wow awesome....

  • ta de perro

  • how to change material to other material with cinema4d, example plane? Thank

  • You took a pic of the Earth from your steet?

  • 1:26

    GOLIATH ONLINE

  • My Reavers fuck ur Goliaths with scarabs .. in the anus

Nice twist in the video :D Not bad a movie for second attempt in modelling!

  • Thats Awesome!

Has inspired me to get into 3D animation!

  • You should make a tutorial. if you haven't already especially on how you used both after effects and cinema 4d

  • Great...congrats..!!!!

  • ha we beat the alines to it mwahahahahahaha

  • ya, cinema 4d really has the best integration with after effects I think

  • Hhahhaa, they were too late, everyone was already dead from bird flu.

    Lol, nice.

  • LOL, sounds so rubbish put into a sentence doesnt it? It was at the time of the initial bird flu scare, and I wanted to make it a short piece with a twist, and cut out the complicated bits (ie. a war, demolition) - that was my easiest way out!

  • nice

  • the models were a bit low poly but i loved your booster effect you had very good and i like the mech model good project overall just more detail and it can even better

  • For one of your first projects, that's pretty good. I think it would have been significantly better if you'd incorporated moving shots, and had done just a bit higher pold models. But overall quite a good job for a first project. God knows my first project with Maya and After effects was nowere near that good.

  • Nice creation Good.

  • did u make the models with aftereffects cause if u did HELP ME

  • Sorry the models were made in Cinema4D, only editing and some of the simpler tricks were in After Effects

  • WELL DONE..GOOD

  • metal gear..

  • that was amazing!

  • keep it up and you can actually have a future using this skill!!!

  • i have cinema 4d but i am really lost on it, can you help me out?>?????????????

  • good animated, but you need a designer. the starships look bad.

  • Totally incredible. The DoF effects were awesome. Regardless of your skill level, that's still a hella lot better than I could ever do.

  • wow, nice man

  • nice, it looks like those early 1990s music videos, that part of the Mecha walking in the driveway, looked really good!

  • not bad

  • This is really cool. I'd work on a movie with you any time. Good stuff

  • LOL

    Thanks

  • cool good joob!

  • Hey man. Don't listen to other people tell you you're an amateur. You did good and the more you keep doing your stuff the better you become. I do some modelling and i am still learning about Materials and character rigging. Its a good video and the planes are good.

  • Thanks bud, unfortunately I am an amateur! This was pretty much the last 3D piece I did, its not really my focus :) Subscribing to your profile though, keep us up to date on how you get on

  • man ure awesome...telll me is cinema4d easy or is 3ds max easy

  • wow

  • silly

  • Thanks for the input, since you have NO videos I'll comment on you in a one word summary too..... USELESS!

  • great job on the compositing, the models weren't really that great, idk how you did the transparent ships flying around, im guessing a displacement map, but that was really cool.

  • can some help me to get cinema 4d for free if any one can thank

  • i dont think thats possible i got it of a friend who got it of his uncle who bought it for £2000 a lot of money eh

  • u can get it using WAREZ

  • if you gonna start doing stylish videos your very amatur at the moment. imange a good music video with 3d effects all in rhythem and in time with the best animation and unrealstic which is releastic possable mostly without immganation. (you know when you listen to a good tune and you vizailure a cool music video with you friends dancing and all that style and 3d that comes with it. ) well erh come on pick up the pace !!!!

  • err... thanks man, but Im not going into stylish videos mixed with 3D just yet! Or do much video work at all

  • Cool vid man!! Check out my After Effects Vids when ya get a Chance! and maybe subscribe if ya want to >:)

  • the invasion scene is too long with nothing interesting happening in it. shorten it or add something more interesting than camera pans.

finally the biggest killer is the fake look of the models against the photographs. you need to add some serious film grain and desaturate the colors of the models to make them fit in better with the photographs (or in your future videos, video film). this is what makes pro cg stand out from amateur cg. sorry to sound harsh, just hope these criticisms help out.

  • sorry but didn't think it was very good and the music was annoying and reeked of amateur video. please take this as constructive criticism and not bashing of your video:

the models walked poorly. for example the feet seem to be slipping as the machine walks, is he walking on ice or something?

the models move too slowly. it makes the movie boring. the model turns its head too slowly, again, boring. nobody wants to wait for a mech to turn its head observing a neighborhood with nothing else in it.

  • Thanks for the feedback, your comments aren't harsh, their very true. I know what you mean about each point made, I was aware of them in the process of making it but as it was my first short piece I wasn't too fussed about getting it even near to a pro cg level.

Thanks though, and will try and cover each point maybe when I do a project in the future

  • Pretty slick.

  • lol. turbine engines in space? pretty tight though.

  • dang that was good for using after effects

  • Nice masking on the tree at the end, good vid :D

  • that cloaking effect is realy cool

  • the only part that bugged me was the aerial scene, with the clouds. it didnt look 3d at all. but other than that, the effects and models were all exceptional.

  • Thanks, the aerial scene was just an idea, didn't come out brilliantly, but was worth the try

  • very very nicely done, what is the orginal name of the real movie, with all those blood crosses on the door

  • Im not sure actually, I simply added that as an idea from the days of the plague! To mark the idea that the houses had been infected

  • nice. 5 star

  • Awesome work!!!! 5 stars!

  • is after effects hard to use?

  • In my opinion, no, very easy to use for this and was actually the more relaxing part of this project compared to the complexity of 3D in Cinema4D, which in comparison requires alot more thinking!

  • but after effects isnt a editing program is it?

  • No it's not. You _can_ use it for editing but it will give you more headaches than using real NLE software :)

  • whats a good one for beginings then?

  • I accidentally removed a good reply to this!

Basically, Windows Movie Maker is easy to use, does the job! Then Sony Vegas is pretty good, but can be alittle more complex but is more flexible too

I used After Effects to edit as my scenes were composites/transparency layers from Cinema 4D - I wouldnt advise it for basic editing, its abit of a pain for that

  • thanks

  • it's a nice idea...but it would be nicer if you detailed the plane more.

    BUT nice music...nice vid....NICE

  • It reminds me of an animation done by a guy named Bahamut, but he did his with pivot.

  • its superbe man,i love you,but how can you do a long movie whith a small space.

  • Great! Very Good Job!!! Bravo Complimenti!

Why not you used any sound effects?

  • Thanks :-) Had no time for sound effects back then :-(

  • brilliant! only issue I see, is as awesome as they are. The alien ships have turbines...in space :'(. Maybe you intended to use those in a different project though and wanted to save time, so it's no big deal. Otherwise it was a freaking awesome concept! I'm a 3DMAX guy myself, but C4D definitely seems to have better fire effects and minor things like that :P

  • The fire effect was cheated on here, simply visible different coloured strong lights with animated to flicker. It was a rushed project, the 'turbines' were just to look cool ;-)

  • Well the turbines do a good job of looking cool, for sure :P. That's interesting, I don't know if MAX can make flickering lights like that. For a rushed project this is really nice. Especially the composite scenes! I like that robot's walk too, how the parts come together. One note for next time is the paper-thin wings on the ships. :P Keep it up, very promising!

  • yes, very nice!

  • Man I wish I could program as well as well as u can video. We could so make a kickass game...

  • Lol, sounds like an excellent concept!

  • good job! did you use a walk cycle for the mech?

  • No I have quite limited knowledge on Cinema4D, I just did it manually which was tedious and hasn't created a great movement but worked for the time scale I had

  • cool! I forget, is Cinema 4D free, or do you have to pay for it?

  • The educational version is free but watermarks all renders, other than Im afraid you have to pay for it

  • Darn. Well, thanks anyway!

  • pretty good

  • criticism is always useful but just negative feedback is pointless & rude.

Good job on motion graphics. Love how the bots walk.

  • i must have the most expensive mac mini in the world

  • I really think i should use it to help make some videos. Ok the robots look fine but the top of it doesn't seem to figit, not even in movies like Star Wars or Final Fantasy or even real life are like that. Other than that, compliments man.

  • Lightning in the beggining sucks, and the robot seems to be floating, not walking, that sucks too.

  • Lightning?

  • Good... but i bet now you could do much better....

  • nice

    but too short..

  • that's good

  • let's see your 3d animation. wait, you don't have one!

  • nice dude! keep it up...... like at some more texture detail to your next or something.... but really nice!

  • I do this for real. But you're alright at it too. Maybe one day we will dual.

  • impressive, can u plz tell me a bit about cinema 4d, with a bit of skill cud u create better stuff graphicly(no offence)and have a bit more detail, like can u make ur own backgrounds. I'm anxious uve inspired me.

  • OMG, what software did he use ??? learn 2 read it says in the title and in the credits @ the end, my god ...

  • ....

  • Can you read? He said he cant even do it and gave it 5/5. So dont talk bullshit.

And its a FACT that the textures weren't really great. Say whatever you want. Still, great work!

  • Hi..:D your work is pretty amazing, by the way what video editing software did you used to make this video? is it Pinaccle studio? Sony vegas? Please :)

  • It was written:

    1. Cinema 4d

    2. After effects

  • has any one got leftfield from exeter uni couple years ago lookin 4 wilti

  • Grafics sucked but it was cool and i cant even do half of it soyeah its awsome 5/5

  • meh

  • its pretty good but it should be longer

  • Not done on a MAC? Cinema 4D is Mac only software? or thats what it says on the website...

  • Cinema4D is available on both (!), same with the other software used for this; After Effects and Photoshop :)

  • is cinema4d free?

  • afraid not, although there is a free educational version I think but its limited

  • wonserfull

  • Boooooooooooring but thats just my opinoin

  • This reminds me of old PC games

  • im from nottingham aswell lol,

  • Fair play to you! Lol, noticed your a GoW player - might be joining the darkside that is Xbox360 soon! Lol

  • cool..i think it could be edited down further. some parts I felt as if I was waiting. ex..when the mech was reading the paper. areas in the editing could be more dynamic...cut more into the action so we dont wait for the action. Let the audience figure it out.. its good to let them catch up...keep them wondering. the shots of invading planes could be edited down.. Change up the sound, to neighborhood ambience ..once they land...overall...nice collection of shots and action.

  • Great advice indeed, most constructive and educating comment so far! Thanks alot, will try out your pointers next time I try something similar to this :)

    Thanks again!

  • Wow! That must have taken a LOT of work. Nice job, great match moves, and a good story as well. Keep up the good work!

  • Nice you got the shadow and everything...good work

  • I just noticed that you're from Nottingham, that's where I'm from. I now live in Florida, but I moved here from Sherwood 4 years ago.

  • cool... small world as they say! lol. Hows life in Florida compared to Nottingham?! Lol

  • how long did this take you to create... im interested in doing an animation for my HSC art... please help! anyone

  • zzzzzzzzzzz rubbish

  • sux

  • Google the sound you wanna have. Or the easiest way, extract as many sounds as possible out of games. Best way to built up a database.

  • Would be a lot better using sound effects...

  • indeede it would, any links to a good sound fx site would appreciated everyone!

  • That was very nicely done, especially with the shadow effects, o man that was amazing. But this is just a personal thing, u could have spent a little more time on it and made the robots and engine flames a bit more realistic, but hey, thats just me.

  • no your right, they were rushed and them project and process in a short time scale were more my focus and not the models - something to look at in future :)

    Cheers

  • Happyafro is correct. As a 3D artist I can tell you that everything you did here sucks balls. Sorry but your Compositing, animation, texturing, modeling, lighting, and after effects all suck. For the people here giving you props and good feedback, they're the retards who sit inside all day and watch a crap load of gay ass Anime, you have no sense of artistic abilities...sorry to bust chops but you need to hear that.

  • Thanks, your spot on coming from a 3D artists perspective - but Im not a 3D artist! Pointers how I can improve each of your points would be helpfull rather than just slating them ;)

    Cheers

  • Thats a bit of a harsh review, he never claimed to be a fucking 3D art God. Give him a break you cunt.

  • Apart form the bad animation on ED108 and a half, A nice little film. The space ships were a bit cut and paste and boring looking but maybe their a race of Aliens from Orpington.

  • HMMMM the Aircrafts lokk like a "F302" type are they? But first nice work!!

  • ridiculous!!

  • omg how did you get it into the landscape?

tell me tell me tell me ^^

    really well done!!!

    I'm deeply impressed!!!

    Go on working xP

  • truly inspiring

  • this thing is pretty cool but too bad u didnt do this 15 years ago cuz nintendo would probably want u

  • lol. nice one.

  • props to u dude
