  • this iswhen music changed for the better! love ABBA

  • fantastic song

  • They were awesome!

  • It's funny to see the conjunctures that developed from the older Eurovision song contests till now like the hair, the clothes and all other changes.

  • I was eight years old, watchign the contest on Israeli TV and thought that Agnetta was the most beautiful woman in the world, especially with these sparkling dots on her cheeks that made a huge impression on me.

  • @wownouser so you had your (wet) dream of a shiksha...her sparkling dots did not happen to be stars of david

  • @MargaritasAntesPorco

Oh PLEASE...... it wasn't a WET dream! I was an eight year old GIRL!

  • I doubt they got a vote from France.

  • @phillyguy95 lol nearly 160 years is not enough time to get over it :D

  • No lesbo but I gotta say I just can't keep my eyes off Agnetha. She is soo adorable I could just eat her up!!! (:

  • That's one scary looking electric guitar

  • This is from time when Eurovision had soul...

  • funny that he pronounces ''björn'' as ''born'' :P

  • Who else notices their accents when they sing?

  • And Waterloo wasn't even their best song :D

  • 0:47

  • Long live ABBA !

  • No I hate this song it's sad and rubbish- in the car on long journeys this is the song my family sings!!! Ugh!!!

  • Agnetha just turned 24.It was great gift to win Eurovision! I love ABBA <3

  • The pavilion @ Brighton looked ♥ly for the time of year.

  • Agnetha looks nice all blued out here!

  • Born looks like a total dork in this video.

  • no wonder THEY got famous...pfff. All those singers amateurs on Eurovision should learn from this.

  • Autotune is for fucking loosers

  • i agree with SthlmHenrik...its strange listen today a singer without auto-tune in live

  • Is that Alan Partridge doing the voice over?

  • @youngian No it's David Vine

  • Eventho my country only won once, I'm glad the greatest song of Eurovison history is about our famous city, just under neath Brussels! :-)

  • This music is the reason punk was born

  • @TheShiteMaster

Yeah and it died soon after aswell thank god

  • @LoveKaren70 You got that right ! Ha ha - ABBA rules.

  • i can fully understand why waterloo won...

    ABBA rules!

  • HAPPY 2012!!

  • ABBA FTW!! way before my time but still awesome

  • They still rock!!!!

  • this is so great, thx!

  • I wonder if he looked at the name Agnetha and said to himself "I can't pronounce that.. I'll just call her Anna!". And he mixed up Benny and Björn too. Haha!

  • @HeathenMaiden I noticed that too lol

  • @HeathenMaiden As a half-swedish person, I know what you mean. I can pronounce it without any problems, but my classmates xD Hilarious.

complete pronouncation's in Dutch. Fails quite hard to be honest. Well, let's enjoy the video, shall we? ;)

  • @HeathenMaiden I noticed that too. Then I saw an interview on YouTube by a talk show host with Benny after a performance where Benny introduced Agnetha as "Anna" and Anna-Frid of course as Frida. Maybe they asked the announcer to introduce her by her nickname "Anna" or maybe he just said whatever.

  • Gänsehaut!

  • "0.0 from the French judge"

  • the first world war poet rupert brooke famously wrote about a `..corner of a foreign field that is forever england..`

well i think it`s fair to say that there is a corner of england that is forever sweden

    that stage in brighton!

  • brilliant, brilliant, brilliant ;)

  • im 18 and I say THIS is REAL MUSIC

  • @hijodelrocio iam 15 and i say that too :D

  • EVERYONE LISTEN UP

    Decent music listeners, you rock

On 28th November we will all be visiting Justin Biebers "One Time" video

which has over 160 million views.

On that day everyone must flag, leave a negative comment and dislike the video.

Help us destroy this modern autotune music that has ruled the world. The goal is to make the dislike bar bigger than the like bar.

Copy and paste this to good vids:ANYTHING GOOD! Thumbs up this plan. THUMBS IT UP!

  • @pantherpuma8

  • I DO remember the evening I saw the Eurovision on the telly with ... THEM!

Instant crush on Agnetha naturally... and instant crush on their music! ABBA FOREVER!

  • Can you believe it? Agnetha had a child in 1973 and in 1974 look how she looks... Amazing!!

  • In the introduction Benny is called ''Bjorn'' and Bjorn is called ''Benny'' =)

  • nul

  • 0:14 Born!?

  • If you dislike this video, why the hell are you watching it???

  • 7 dislikes??? how dare thay?????

  • the guitar and piano is basically identical to the studio version, and there is no chance of it being backing tapes, its sheer talent...incredible

  • In 1971, there was a council in heaven, and a bunch of angels came up to god and said: god, look, some demons are down there and they are not doing that much wrong, but they're kind of messing up things a little and getting it on their side. Give us permission, and let us come down there, we're gonna pretend to be four guys from sweden, and try to balance things a little, you know, to let them know what's our deal up here. And god said: ok, but just ten years, and look after them onwards.

  • @sirdelrio after all is not such a crazy theory, after all, what does 'abba' mean? isnt that how jesus would reffer to the heavenly father? we've been all these years thinking they were human. they were angels making propaganda for heaven! (btw, this is a poetic vision of mine, i'm not serious)

  • I'm convinced that during the seventies, angels and demons took a vacation from their eternal battle and descended to earth to share a bit, and live in friendship and love. The senventies was a magic and supernatural epoch, and the more i see artists from that time, i get convinced they were either not human, or were being helped by angels or demons. In this case, cherubims and archangels are not fooling anyone.

  • Fours years after a movie version came the song, I like that reversal of the norm.

  • And the legend was born.

  • The voice over calls Bjorn Benny, and calls Benny Bjorn

  • I remember this like it was yesterday, rather than 37 years ago! Agnetha bounding down the steps, that wonderful smile, great voice, sexy wiggle.....the rest, as they say, is history!

  • Frida is so sexy here

  • Första vinsten för Sverige eller?

  • The best edition of Eurovission song festival: 1. ABBA 2. Cinquetti... 4. Newton-John !!!!

  • For once (or for seconce --- if you count Does Your Mother Know --- )i do think, really do, tBjörn is a great singer, at least his harmonysinging is great in this one.

Fantastic song; up there with Mamma Mia, Knowing Me knowing You, Dancing Queen, When I Kissed the Teacher, Angel Eyes and As Good As New.

One hell of a Reliable Hit-group, and for Voulez-Vous a good album-making group.

  • WOW!! The girls were beautiful when they were young. I only know them as older 40's or 50's i guess. Love their music esp Dancing Queen & aging sucks

  • This is the real stuff... 100% acoustic music and great singing with no auto-tune crap :)

  • @SthlmHenrik In the Eurovision it always has to be real voices, it's against the rules to alter voices, then again that's why some songs can sound terrible, not this though!

  • @MrESheehy Yeah, but the music is 100% playback nowadays...

  • @SthlmHenrik

Well, it's not 100% acoustic music, Björn is playing the electric guitar ^^

  • @SthlmHenrik but no-one acepts fat but good singing people in our times because all want the "best" but the best is only a mask. Behind the mask are only normal people no-one would like to see :-(

  • I don't think a lot of people were expecting them to be singing in english! That's talent when you can sing amazingly in other languages!! :)

  • fucking brings tears to my eyes.... i was 12 years old.... hahahahaha :):):)

  • @TheJanoska THEY ARE GREAT! Can't get enough of ABBA even today 2012.

    Sir David

  • @TheJanoska Me too!

  • Who put dislike on this????

  • Italian song "Si" was better than Abba's Waterloo. But Abba is a classic, and they did better songs after Waterloo. Apart from that, at first Abba chose "Hasta Mañana" (best song for me) to perform for Eurovision, but they did prefer it finally.

  • And a legend was born :-)

  • One of the best Pop songs ever by one of the best Pop group ever!

    Great picture and sound quality!

  • Me gustan mucho.

    I like them so much.

  • Many Americans cite Blucher as an unsung hero of this battle & they do have a point. Napoleon kicked Prussian arse & it was reciprocated.

  • best pop group ever well done abba ?!? thank u 4 the music

  • @washy1965 Love this ABBA number, only regret was the lack of credit to the likes of

Blucher von Wahlstadt & Field-Marshal The Duke of Wellington.

  • Perfect, simply perfect - in any aspect .....

  • AWESOME!!!!! GG ♫

  • Agnetha, one of the most memorable behinds in showbiz...

  • The narrator introduces Agnetha as "Anna." Benny explained to Dick Clark while introducing the others on Bandstand that "Anna" is "Lilisha" so that is why Benny introduced Agnetha to Dick as "Anna" while Anna-Frid was known as "Frida." I'm not sure I get all that.

  • love the commentator..its like a footy match

  • a great performance and a great version, high quality.

  • This is the best eurovision performance all the time.

  • eurovisions changed so mutch lol

  • 3:19 the guitarist is looking the whole time on the singers ass

  • Why do I always think of Arthur and Francis when I see thins?

  • @CahReme

    this*

  • idolos nunca pasaran de moda viva abba

  • Question: Why don't they sing in Swedish? I thought back then, they had to sing in a mother tongue of their hone country. Only when a group won the Eurovision and presented the winning song again, I heard English versions in the early days of the Eurovision. Could someone explain?

  • @Atticus70 Very simple, actually. English-language songs sell in the US, non-English songs don't. And the US market drives the world music market..............at least it did at the time.

ABBA is a great case in point. Singing in English broke them in the US, they went on to reap a fortune. Had they sung in Swedish, they would have never broke America and would have never become famous.

  • @KayJayHP They were doing quite well in Sweden, Finland, UK and Australia before they "broke" America. As I recall it, they only had one number one hit in America (Dancing Queen) vs nine in the UK. By that time the people in Australia were already going nuts! So taking cred for making ABBA famous-well I think that´s a bit steep. But by using English you´ve got the possibility to reach a much bigger audience, I give you that. Good music ALWAYS brake through and then stay forever and ever!

  • @Atticus70 There were some years when exceptions were made and countries could perform in any language they wanted. It was later changed to the native language only. Now, of course, the language is free again. Abba started performing in Swedish, before Eurovision, but after fame hit them, they performed almost entirely in English.

  • @PhaiaP Thank you very much!

  • @Atticus70 Wiki: The language restriction continued until 1973, when it was lifted and performers were again allowed to sing in any language they wished.

  • This is still the best Eurovision song by far...

  • A great start for an iconic group.

  • Anyone who says they're crap, try make there sound without any edits, truly wonderful group.

  • It is amazing to see this in 1974...no auto tune, no gimmicks, and they sound studio perfect..different talent then...

  • This was when my dad graduated highschool. Clarkston, Class of '74. Man, I sure missed out.

  • 5 people are TOTALLY, CERTIFIABLY INSANE !

  • Waterloo? uhm...i guess that's been their biggest hit in France. Joking apart Eurofestival has been always a ridicule farse and still it's. But in my opinnion not in that - rare - occasion.

  • THANK YOU Thank you!! BIG big SMILE from the LoVe Islands in the Arctic!:oD

I was just turned 5, and I was allowed to see the Eurovision Song Contest. We had a black white tv, but I was sold! From that day I was a ABBA-fan, and my brothers knew what to give me each year for Xmas. The new album.

In retrospect, not the strongest song they had, but it made them famous!

Lots of Love, thanx again for sharing!

  • Italy was much better

  • Agnetha looks a lot better in those boots than Ace Frehley ever did.

  • the best group ever!!!

  • 2 people to face the LOOWATER

  • <3 Napoleon

  • @footycal you are a shit!! abba are the best on the world!!!!!!!

  • @footycal Are you ill,if so heres hoping your speedy recovery, problems with the ears are never easy to resolve

  • WoW! i love sweden

  • this is nice

  • little did they know... by they I mean the viewers and of course the group too :)

  • reposez en paix mr WALLDOFF

  • RIP Sven-Olof Waldoff :(

  • haha I love when the commentator says watch out for this one!

  • ABBA 1974 <3

  • I like the music but I also like the costumes they wear.

  • BEST SONG IN EUROVISION EVER!!!!!! WOOOOO!!!!!! I LOVE YOU ABBA!!!!!!!

  • best of the best

  • The best Eurovision song EVER!!

  • That voice you hear in the background is the late David Vine of Snooker and Ski Sunday fame

  • Did ABBA win?

  • @Blueknightex

    yes

  • @Blueknightex yes

  • @Blueknightex , Yes they did and still regarded as the best eurovision song.

  • 2 people are very blind indeed

  • Still the best Eurovision song ever! Brgrds Norway!

  • Im sooo glad to have found abba! <3 <3

  • Would ABBA have won if this was held in France?

  • @harvester49 Where did you take history? Waterloo is in Belgium. Not France!

  • @Kevin00405 yeah but come on, it was the French who lost at Waterloo!

  • @Kevin00405

Does it matter? It is far from Moskow LOL

    Great song, great group- forever!

  • Best Eurovision song ever!!

  • They are very nervous with this version. If you compare it with the end of transmission winning performance. Agnetha vocals are much louder than Frida's during the performance and it is the perfect key for her voice as she certainly belts it out!!!!

  • @yonnii *agneta, what's with the english edit?

  • @yonnii Yeah, they are quite stiff.

  • The biggest act ever to be born out of this competition!

  • Eu mam nascut in 1974..

  • sweet, love it!

  • Did anyone notice that at the beginning, the guy gets Benny and Björn mixed up? Funny! And that little dance Agnetha does from 2:43 to 2:46 is so cute! Though alot of things Agnetha does is cute!
