  • thanks for this video never put attention on this one and is good thanks to everyone that is sharing knowledge

  • Why is the condenser fan running in defrost??? That'll never work properly.

  • oh made in china. out of all the schooling and units that ive worked on. ive never heard of the rvs going bad. get what you pay for

  • thats funny, usually the rvs is the last that will go out on a heat pump

  • I am a tech and since I've been in the field I find that customers don't understand that their units will last longer (don't matter what kind of system they have) you have to have a tech perform at least once a year maintenance. But the system will last longer to, if it is installed properly. So customers don't be cheap when a tech tells you that your system need something. I do recommend that you get a second opinion because their are some crooks out there.

  • I agree with your statements. I'd say many early failures (within a couple years) are DIRECTLY related to improper installation. There are many thing that should be considered, and a few tech either don't know or don't care (or perhaps most likely think it doesn't matter). Kinda like building a house, you gotta do it right the first time.

  • you are a tech. I am a HVAC student .....

What might I look for when getting interviewed as to weather the company is fly-by-night/hafe assed or a company that wants their techs to fix it right the first time.

  • I'm no tech, I was just tired of calling companies out to look at my heat pump and them replacing parts... so I decided to trouble shoot it myself. I've learned a lot.

As for your question, I think the tech is usually the problem, not necessarily the company.

  • I have a Ducane unit that looks identical to the one you're working on. It will also heat the house for about an hour, then starts blowing cold air. Did you just un-hook the defrost signal to get it working again?

  • No, the main circuit board controls the defrost and it is sensor, not timed demand. I've unhooked the reversing valve solenoid, which disables the reversing valve from sticking in cool in the first place. Of course now I've replaced the reversing valve and everything works fine.

  • I think the construction is good, and the warranty service was fantastic. For the price they can't be beat, but they're made in China where as most other are made in USA.

  • What brand is the other air-conditioner seen in the video, and why does ur house have 2 different brands of air-conditioners?

  • The other is a Xenon (Amana). The Haier is a replacement for the crap Xenon that failed. One unit for the downstairs, on for upstairs.

  • My house has the same setup, one A/C for the main level and basement, and one for the second floor. They are both 13 SEER Carriers from 2007, matched with gas furnaces.

Also, again, are Haier's in ur opinion a good brand?

  • Sorry, I didn't see you already answered my question about your opinion of Haier. Are u gonna replace the Amana with another Haier?

  • I'll keep the Xenon (amana) until it quits, which hopefully will be a long time...

  • how would it most likey quit ? In your thinking most outside units quit it what way[s].?

  • Who knows, there are many ways it would quit, but the killer would be the compressor, most other things can be fixed fairly easily.

  • If I was doing it again I wouldn't buy another Haier, (mainly because the parts are a little harder to come by) I'd probably go with a Trane... but who knows.

  • Are Haiers any good in ur opinion?
