  • Arthur Brown is far from crazy in the general sense of the word.. He has such a lucid mind. All that he says in this video is spot on... A genius musician!

  • Dude has crazy stage presence

  • THE BUTTERFLY THAT BUZZES HIS HEAD AT 0.44 IS WHAT REALLY MAKES THIS VIDEO SPECIAL WITHOUT IT AND IT JUST ANOTHER PIECE OF CRAP!

  • Fucking amazing! What the hell?! This is 1968!!! Death metal,Alice Copper, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppellin, etc... meet your pappa! Love it!

  • Lady Gaga eat your heart out.........you could actually learn something from watching Arthur

  • @Dan1494 yeh, , that s true , it was 68 , for that time incredible , was Arthur crazy about the devil ....... no way

i m regilion but not extreem , that s not what God s want , if your live was good and baptist or not , you re welcome in heaven .It was unbelievable that such records were played , it means that nothing was wrong with the song ....... What happened now , cooper was a copy , later Kiss and now lady Gaga .Arthur was one hit wonder , to bad

  • "I see myself as aurthur brown"

    aummm

  • That's Carl Palmer of ELP playing drums btw

  • TEENAGE CARL PALMER ON THE DRUMS!!

  • I vote Alan Rickman play him in a movie.

  • @hotelBroslin

I can actually see him playing Arthur Brown! lol

  • Quite frankly, Arthur Brown seems to be a pretty intelligent guy, and expressive too....

    Very inspiring!

  • This is How Barack Obama started.

  • "it's the church that created the devil"...

Respect for Arthur Brown for saying that on belgian national television...if only people would realize he's right..

  • A great singer and song writer, but his act was silly. like a Monty Python skit. Also he had a very good band with Carl Palmer on drums& Vincent Crane on organ who later formed Atomic Rooster.

  • i was lucky enough to have seen FIRE performed when we went to see The Who.

we were sitting on the floor in front of the stage,,and this guy comes out with his head on fire ,,and the band was tight as hell,,and we all looked at each other,,,and started screaming..OH MY God...this was UNREAL !!!.

  • AB rocks! You like this stuff? Check out Screamin' Jay Hawkins.

  • Freddie Mercury!!!!

  • He speaks a l i t t l e b i t s l o w l y , m a y be because of the drugs. Hmmmm... ;P Great artist, great vocalist, an inteligent man - simply Arthur Brown!

  • His moves are very robotic.

  • Absolutely amazing! How can I have missed this over the years?

  • Thank you Arthur Brown ....You set the pace!!!!!

  • Marilyn Manson is Arthur Brown of 90-s - 00-s! )) I mean, they're even alike by appearance )

  • his personality is strangely similar to that of ozzy. i dunno who is crazier tho

  • You think Arthur got a lot of trim back in the day? I think he did.

  • Arthur's performance and persona are pure genius... Many artists owe a lot to this man.

  • Damn deep ass voice lol

  • Spot on about religion, nothing more than psychological deception.

  • the guy is not still alive 68 years.

  • lol Arthur Brown was a bad ass dancer.. I dig it ..

  • Great stuff I love it! I love the album too !!! Way cool!!!

  • Excellent Carl Palmer and great Vincent Crane at the Hammond!GREAT!

  • Fucking great. Carl Palmer was the shit even before ELP.

  • great

  • great

  • A man after my own heart! :)

  • With a young Carl Palmer on the drums.

  • AMAZING FOOTAGE.

Were they burning records at the end??

  • This was A+++ fanfuckintastic.

    The 1st Heavy Metal singer.

  • yeah, maybe. But dont forget what Arthur was a Foundations member ( a british Soul group). Funky-Soul beat with a terrifyng envelopment-

  • Arthur browm from Whitby. Should look at his performance at the Glastonbury Fayre. Thanks for posting.

  • carl palmer was something special! still is!

  • Brilliant - mind you - we've all had them days when our brains are like sewer pipes.

  • this guy got a 'hot dose'

  • Carl Palmer, I guess!

  • Who is on drums?

  • It is Carl Palmer, before ELP.

  • Arthur looks kinda cute in the latter videos.

  • look...I also live for the Beatles, Stones, Kinks,Floyd, and Zappa (r.i.p)but....I still LOVE the Raiders as well.

  • Guess you only like safe, familiar, bland, pre-packaged, repackaged BLANd music, huh? Frankly, I prefer bizarre music to the cookie cutter crap you hear on Empty Vee. If you don't take any chances, you never make any progress.

  • no, I love Rush, Genesis, Tull too--wouldnt call that progressive, would ya? (it means I loved the stuff I had as a kid IN ADDITION to stuff I had in 20's and 30's--not this Beyonce, Eminem Jonas Brothers horsesh*t you guys have now--makes me wanna puke.

  • Just checked out the Paul Revere song. Kinda thought it sucked.

  • tell that to the millions of fans they had in 60's/70's--I dont know what "song" you heard by PR&Raiders---but go ahead and tell me "Hungry" Steppin' Out", "Good Thing" didnt have great riffs..

believe it or not, BEFORE Aerosmith (a band I also LOVE) The Raiders were considered the American Stones, but n/m you're too young to know that...

but it's ok, keep bashing on Lindsay, he's rich, he could give a sh*t.

  • Ich hab selten so eine Lachnummer gesehen , entweder hat er es gern das die Leute über ihm lachen , oder er ist wirklich durchgeknallt

  • Arthur Brown, the original goth/glam/punk.

  • Arthur brown is a nutter, and there's nothing wrong with that!

  • @thecrimsonfloyd I like nutters. They're unashamedly creative most of the time.

This world would be a better place with more kind nutters like Arthur Brown.

  • his nose was huge

  • fantastic, multi-stage nose.

  • theatre and music at its best, love it or hate dont worry there is britney etc....

and regis and cathy, the wheel o" fortune and who was the rap dude compared his music or should i say sampled forgetables to the beatles?

heres a spoon time to eat some crap

  • Real heavy metal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Metallica sucks hahaha

  • Arthur is so HOT! wow, he is really cute when he is on the interview there. I heard from somewhere he was a major influence for Alice Cooper. I think that is really cool.

  • I saw him several times in the 70s. We were all on acid in those days, and bands like Arthur's were our regular Friday entertainment. Others included: Stray, Atomic Rooster, Man, Good Habit, Hawkwind, Quicksand, Etc.

  • Love the comment about sewer pipes for brains! That is truly brilliant, Arthur Brown! You would think pop culture would have evolved since then, but with a few amazing exceptions, it has not. Top forty sucked ass then and sucks worse body parts now! There is so much more to life than eat, work, sleep, and listen to shallow, crappy music! We need more substance in our collective music listening. If you are afan of American Idol and this comment pisses you off... GOOD!

  • I don't know what you're talking about, but Top 40 was great back then.

  • Herman's Hermits and Sonny and Cher were good? I think not.

  • the artists that you mentioned had some good songs, as well as some God-awful ones.....but think about some other artists during that period that were good.....Roy Orbison, the Beatles, the Animals, Elvis, Dusty Springfield, Tom Jones, Engelbert Humperdinck, Gene Pitney, Paul Revere and the Raiders....I could go on and on.....educate yourself before making a stupid comment about the music back then.

  • Paul Revere and the Raiders? Engelbert Humperdink? You must be joking. Remind me to never let you D.J. a party. That's exactly the kind of garbage I was referring to. I am quite aware of the music of the 60's and 70's. You seem to be missing my original point which was that every generation had it's Lady GaGa or Brittany Spears. You have to dig a little deeper to hear the high quality music. Also why don't you lighten up? No need to get nasty about things.

  • I'm not trying to be nasty and I apologize if that's the way my words came across. I do DJ, and let me tell you, I can honestly say I have played Fire by Arthur Brown and people looked at me like I was crazy....but in the same night I played Hush by Deep Purple and got a positive response.

    P.S.

Believe me I have dug deeper, I have a vast CD collection.....from Pink Floyd to Frank Sinatra, from Tony Bennett to Alice in Chains. I don't discriminate.

  • The RAIDERS were GREAT !!--dont put them w/ Humperdinck-- he goes w/ that Tom Jones/Manilow crap--but PR&Raiders had Mark F*CKING Lindsay --one of the greatest lead singers to ever hold a mike--being a kid in the 60's, this is sacred territory for me, and I'm very protective of it--no offense (oh shit, nevermind---OFFENSE!)

  • One of greatest performer and singer of all the times! Arthur rules!

  • now i know where the doors got thier sound....

  • Wow! Awesome clip!! Thank you so much for posting!!!!!!!!

  • He is brilliant. "The church created church"

  • He made a MUCH better rocker than he did a theologian...

  • this is fucking awesome!!!!, dammit i'm just 19 but men, how i would've loved to see this guy in concert, this is why i like a lot more the music from before my era, they were damn good and pretty creative.

  • @Starbreaker198IX there's plenty going on now that's wilder than this. get off youtube and go to a show. the weirdness is out there.

  • Drugs are bad mmm k!

  • From 2:30 to 2:58, so very true....and, unfortunately, it's STILL that way!

  • he was funny as hell at that part

  • Check out Carl Palmer on the drums, be it a set about 1/10th the size of his ELP kit... :>)

  • he looks and sounds like Alan Rickman when he talks.SNAPE!! lol.

  • I consider this to be the birth of heavy metal.

  • INCREDIBLE voice and range!!! Arthur's voice is one of a kind. Coupled together with the completely unique organ style of Vincent Crane the combination is highly combustable.....

  • Arthur is really intelligent and hot. :D I love this interview.

  • mad as in angry or as in completely bananas?

    very cewl!

  • I think he meant mad as in crazy(like mad as a hatter).

  • The line between being a genius and being a lunatic is quite thin.

  • Man...this guy was on drugs! Great drummer, though, in Carl Palmer!

  • smart man and charisma to boot

  • i need a man to sex me up tonight hehe.

    stop fighting. kr

  • The most sonic male rock singer ever. Period.

  • I met him this weekend and did various workshops with him. He's a nutcase but an amazing guy!

  • ¡esto es vanguardia!

  • Bigoted? What he says makes quite a bit of sense I think, especially about the Church and the Devil.

  • He has my Vote.

  • Hilarious, what was Carl Palmer, about 17 years old then? The guy had fast hands back then too!

  • Arthur Brown was IT, man!

  • Well, my brain's like a sewer pipe as well. It really makes me sad---extremely sad.

  • Is it me or is Arthur a dead ringer for Allan Rickman?

  • I said the same thing.

  • el papa de alice cooper

  • [spelling correction:] "WHO was really the first ONE"

  • I've heard Ian Gillan sing like that in falsetto but wasn't Arthur Brown the first?

It's important how was really the first.

Maybe it was James Brown, after all?

    (reference: "I feel good")

    :O)

I didn't realize that soul and heavy metal was that intimately related, talking voice, until recently.

    Did YOU?

  • Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Unique!!!!

  • Random

  • this song is called nightmare

  • Does anyone know the name of the song that is performed? Dynamic explosions in my mind.

  • This song is called "Prelude - nightmare".

  • Thanks.

  • what a nut!I picked up Galactic Zoo Dossier and TCWOAB recently and have been enjoying the shit out of 'em.Rock n' roll needed Art at that time along with MC5 to keep the flower powwer thing from becoming too saccharine-y,y'know

  • Anyone know what kind of amps thay are using. I have seen other groups using them around this era.

  • wem from england , also used by pink floyd live at pompeii. check it out and watch the whole dvd. good luck.

  • Thats Carl Palmer on the drums

  • FAR OUT! Arthur Brown, the FIRST shock rocker of all time! Piss off Brian Warner (a.k.a. Marilyn Manson).

  • the god of hellfire (life and times of arthur brown) by polly marshal. its a good read up until halfway through. he talks about other acts too, such as hendrix, who wanted to cut and album with arthur! that would have been something.

  • This is my favorite youtube video ever!! Now if you will excuse me, i have to jump in my Volkswagon and go wash up

  • WAy ahead of his time!!

  • this guy's live show was very well put together as visual art and his voice is great in my opinion...check him out as guest singer on Allan Parson's Project Edgar Allan Poe Album...Parson's only featured the best vocalists. He was sure one of them at that time.

  • That dancing is just freakin hilarious! LOL

  • A teenage Carl Palmer on drums!!!! He always played in bands with crazee dudes!

  • marilyn manson of 60's ;D

  • Extraordinarily valuable material. Thanks !!!

Does this belong to a longer show or has it been officially released?.

Far from stupid answers I think AB speaks his mind out genuinely. Church does create fear and the devil is just a few meters from it. I've witnessed how some priests emphasize punishment and fear, sometimes blocking natural faith for those who believe or want to.

Arthur Brown made a statement with his theatrical music and 3 great essential albums with KINGDOM COME. Take a look

  • dude' fucking punk as shit

  • Acid? Anyone? :)

  • hell yeah trip out!!!!!11

  • there is no good, there is no evil, there is no god and there is no devil, it's all bullocks

  • My God! It's Alan Rickman before there was Alan Rickman! :o

  • ya I knew that face looked familiar

  • The God/devil stuff was STUPID. The video looks like Kubuki theater set to rock(?) music.

  • Pshht. It was a wonderful set-up for his answer. And he's intentionally basing his costume design in Japanese culture.

  • It was a stupid question AND a stupid response.

  • Well, I thought it was witty, so there.

  • His dancing is enjoyable, but the interview is just drugged up talk. Then again, so is the dancing.

  • I don't really think he's on drugs doing the interview, but even if he is, the effect is still intended and accomplished -- He leads you on thinking he's going to say he feels like a devil, and why that makes him the unsung hero of the picture, like any normal, pompous rocker at the time might have done, and then just says he feels like Arthur Brown.

  • From what I know Arthur never touched drugs. He was/is just crazy.

  • read the book about him. he did TONS of drugs

  • is there a book about about this guy? wow

  • Although he sounds drunk or stoned, he says sensible things about the God/devil question.

  • Arthur Brown is a cute guy. I really like him. And his song "Nightmare."

  • Growing up in rural Ohio in the 60's, I heard "Fire", but never had a chance to see Arthur Brown. This guy is awesome. He has a great voice and is the artistic father of Kiss, Ozzie Osbourne and many others. This is why YouTube beats television, hands down!

  • i know him, ive spoken to him, ive walked his dogs, ive seen his wife, they live on same street as me, but they broke up, now his wife tilly lives alone

his dogs were called muttley and dotty, :D

  • you lucky man

  • Fuck the bible.Arthur Brown is a diety. And yes, other people love come and buy.

  • reminds me of Alan Rickman.....

  • Another Arthur Brown classic, the whole album is awesome!

  • I LOVE "Fire" to death....but am I the only one who loves "Come And Buy?"

  • what he was trying to say was that evil was born as a result of good existing, so technically he is right because you can't have one without the other.

  • ...And then throws that out the window because that is an stupid and irrelevant sensationalist music journalist's question.

  • Awesome. I wonder if Peter Gabriel was thinking of him when he started wearing crazy costumes in concert in the early `70s?

  • Great point. It's amazing how crazy these repressed Brits get when playing dress up :-) I think his falsetto voice influenced King Diamond as well!

  • Moth attack at 00:46!

  • the devil is not a invention of the church... dumbass.. go read the bible..

  • LMAO. One of my favourite comments ever!

  • Why don't you shove your "Book Of Lies" straight up your "Brainwashed" ass you fucking idiot!

  • he raped peoples minds , hope you werent duped too.

  • I'm glad that LP on Track is still a relatively easy score in bargain bins

  • I knew Arthur, met his mum, his brother, briefly aquainted his wife and 2nd son over the phone ... and weyhey, they're truly a clan of weirdos!

(To this day I still have some of the conversations on audio-tape)

"The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown" in the true sense of it all !

  • Very cool. I think Arthur was a creative genuis ahead of his time. Excellent. And cute!

  • @123ThisIsMe The tape could mean millions for you especially if Art mentions the devil.

  • Excellent music, dancing and philosophy.

  • Fire!!!!!! lol

  • great vid!!

  • Let hear it for the Belgiums!

  • That was great!

  • q genio!! q puto amo!!

  • would love to see the whole concert

  • The original FRIGHTMAN of rock; brilliant, a mad genius. I saw him during this period in 68 and it was unreal. And thats Atomic Rooster MK1 backing him with Carl Palmer on drums. "Once you have a system you have to oppose it with an opposite system." Great existential philosophy Arthur! Of all the live footage out there of this band, what you see here is by far the best in all respects and shows what it was like to see these guys...in 1968 mind you. Nothing like it!
