Godfrey, was a tyrant who treated a lot of people with disrespect moreover Julius La Rosa, Back in the 1950s he had a hotel in Florida, not letting in the Jewish persuasion in. Being a tough Irishman he openly made it known that he didn't like Jewish people.
My father played on that show in 1952. He was a violinist with the NY Philharmonic. In trying to find the exact episode he was on, which was I believe was April 28,1952, I was told that all episodes before 1955 no longer exist anywhere. If anyone has any information that contradicts that I would love to know about it
@nidurnevets i second this! my grandfather and his band played on this show in the 50s, so i'd really like to find the original footage from that episode.
Wow, yeah, he really was huge and has been almost completely forgotten. My only real memory of him was that he appeared in a commercial in 1982 shortly before he died.

artiefun--see Wikipedia: CBS President Dr. Frank Stanton noted that Godfrey had
hired LaRosa on-air and suggested that Arthur fire him the same way. After
Godfrey did, he added: "I know you'll wish him godspeed as much as I do." The
hotel abandoned the anti-Semitic policy when Godfrey acquired a stake in the
hotel in the early 1950s. Dick Cavett, in a piece for the New York Times, called
the accusations of anti-Semitism "...purest nonsense."

He had a daily television show, and two other weekly TV shows simultaneously.
I met him in Hawaii when I was in the service.
