@jamflip Actually, China was never imperialist. China already has contact with the whole of South East Asia and even had voyages as far as Eastern Africa by the 1300s. But China didn't use her superior navy to terrorize the indigenous population into an exploitation colony. Instead, China traded with them, presented gifts to them, and Chinese people migrated and set up goodwill communities there. Today, the Chinese Admiralty Zheng He is still worshiped throughout S.E Asia for what he did.
