  • AND THE LOCAL GOVERNT MAY NOT BE ABLE TO AFFORD SUCH AN OPERATION!!! Thats what she said dude... not your gibberish take a better look 1:03

  • I little bit of the our quickly dying fossil fuels.

  • way to go grandparents

    thx for the heritage

  • take piano lessons

  • Use micro orgamisms to eat the oil... and the rest of the reefs. :-O

  • There are trillions of dollars of oil within Albertan sands, yet re-claiming this oil is cost-prohibitive? Don't believe what the tree-huggers tell you. They'd have you living in a cave or better yet: dead, as humanity is a stain upon Mother Earth. The future of the U.S. is mapped out for us: it is a hybrid of Marxian collectivism and Stalinist tyranny. National identity will be but a memory in 30 years. Canada has yet to apologize to its morons.

  • Sorry, but you are totally nuts.

  • And what has this got to do with leaking shipwrecks, anyway?

  • True, but your assessment is very one dimensional. There is trillions of dollars worth of oil in the Alberta(Athabasca) Oil Sands. It's spread out over 54,000 square miles making only 10% of it economically recoverable, and they are planning to, and currently drilling where it is economically viable.

  • Drilling? More like completely obliterating vast tracts of land. Tar sands mining is the equivqalent of scraping the bottom of the barrel and it's ecologically unsustainable as is our dependence on fossil fuels in the first place.

  • How much oil could be in one ship? Cretainly not enough to be of any economic value. Drilling? More like completely obliterating vast tracts of land. Tar sands mining obliterates vast tracts of land and is the equivqalent of scraping the bottom of the barrel and it's ecologically unsustainable as is our dependence on fossil fuels in the first place.

  • Damn, millions of creatures are being killed and the oceans are being turned into toxic slush, and what do they do? They wait for someone to pay. Noone volunteers so they pass the problem over to the next generation.

Meanwhile, the seas turn into toxic slush and all the water goes black but we don't care we won't be there to see it. Our children and grandchildren will. They'll face having to clean hundreds of year's damage to the seas.

  • Meh...

  • lmao...japanese historical documents arent easy to access.

  • The oceans are a world resource, and we need a world class approach to dealing with these sorts or problems.

  • very well said.

  • oh my god, what if earth blows up?

  • fucking air head

  • hmmm interesting...thanks for posting

  • the local governmant can't afford the operation ....wth...the local government can't afford not to do the operation

  • well said.

  • The problem is that FSM is such a tiny country. The entire population is less than that of Ann Arbor and the per capita income is about $2000.

  • the u.s. military was just there in that area and used a hot tap procedure to extract the oil out of a ship of there own. besides, dont need any pumping of any kind. the sea pressure is the pump. just need hose and a tanker.

  • well somebody foot the bill already how about Greenpeace governments don't do crap know more except line pockets of there interest so its time people take action and get that oil out of there and if theres a way to recycle it use that $ to line the pockets of GREEN people

  • she says japanese oil tanker, so it seems easy to see who is at fault, however if it is in international waters, Nato is supposed to take care of all worldly affairs.... no Brainer.

  • sad

  • Why can't they just drill holes and collect the oil in barrels and sell the oil to pay for its own clean up? I know a little separation would need to take place but shouldn't some be good?

  • i doubt if the oil would cover costs involved

  • well, if America wants to drill for oil so badly that can start with THAT sunken ship...

  • uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, how about just pull it out of the water???? i mean if they can lift the titantic this shouldn't be too hard

  • like they said, since it's a foreign vessel they don't know who would pay for the operation and the local government may not be able to afford it.

  • marine life on the boats, they provide a "artificial" coral reef.

  • Lift the Titanic?

  • because there would be no more dolphins for them to eat?

  • I think that all the countrys in the world should fund it, because it is affecting the oceans, and that literally belongs to the world.

  • Richona the problem with that idea in no one can really enforce that all the countrys.. the UN is trying to get all of them in the world to sign the international waters act but even the US refuses to sign it

  • Is that due to reasons relating to national security? I think they should split it two ways, allowing civilian vessels such as greenpeace/scientific research vessels or a cruise ship through, with limits to duration of stay etc, and not allow warships through. Of course it would present many loopholes but in the situation here it would be very helpful, as it would with the 'nuclear bomb' shipwreck, in the mouth of the river Thames.. utilising other countrys resources as well as our own.

  • That sucks. War = bullshit.

  • Agree with sedelino. It is only about ensuring "pump point" static with some construction, large collecting roof sail with another pump. And some method of "instant pump" with option to interrupt download and secure place quickly. I quess at least there is so much fuel, that such installation can sponsore itself fully.

  • New plan to lower gas prices? Or just another way to make everyone more oil-dependent?

  • That sucks

  • Thats some expensive shit being wasted right there

  • I say drill em dry!! hahaha, really, this looks like a serious problem, but hopefully technology and pure human enginuity will figure out the way to deactivate this ticking time bomb.

  • *ingenuity

  • :/ My bad, no editing feature sucks.

  • How bout you guys use a narrator who doesnt sound like she has half of her tongue missing!!!!

  • Why is it surprising that oil would be coming from an oil tanker?

  • That was like $32.54 that was leaking there!

  • bye bye micronesia. should've kept this under wraps. the united states is going to invade you now.

  • Seems like no one feels responsible for this. But I dont undstand why they want to pump it out... it would be a lot easy to catch the up coming oil like air bubbles and surely you still could use it

  • thats sad.

  • that needs a big cleanup.

  • Wouldnt it be possible to use the oil, even after all these years? If so, I dont see why its so hard to find someone to clean it up.

  • It probably isn't enough oil to make a fortune off of.

  • Yeah you would imagine they could use it somehow woudlnt you?

  • In our economic climate today and Japan facing a simular economic collapse as America, i can imagine it being very hard to get Japan to pay the bill

  • Someone's gotta clean it up.

  • oh noz

  • What about a parachute?

  • simper and easier solution: pour large quantity of cement over the ship rack

I know, it's brutal idea. However, something must be done before that thing bursts while the "officials" play the blame game.

  • That would be like shoving the dirt under the rug.

  • cementing over it would just be delaying the problem.

Since oil floats up, why not put a giant inverted funnel above the ship and have the oil go into a collector the size of the ship's original oil capacity?

  • they dont know how much oil is in the ship so they would be making a guess and still that cost alot of money

  • oh noes, they cant afford to take care of the mess...

shoulda thought about that before they started shooting ships. dumb asses.

  • awesome

  • someone should tell the US government since they are always greedy for more oil

  • that's mess up

  • I could sort that out with about £200,000, just use a giant funnel, these companys just rip everyone despite the affect on wildlife and surroundings, they should be locked up.

  • I blame short trousers.

  • wow! amazing what is under the oceans!

  • or a small underwater dome with a hose at the top. the oil would float into and collect at the top of the dome where the hose is.

  • The boat's hull is continuing to disintegrate, like the Titanic, that would only be a temporary fix as it is a matter of time until more, possibly much larger, holes develop in the fuel tanks of the various sunken ships around Micronesia...

  • "or a small underwater dome with a hose at the top. the oil would float into and collect at the top of the dome where the hose is."

There are a lot of solutions, but as always it's about the money.

  • good idea

  • why dont they just go to a oil company and be like "hey you want some free oil"?

  • I'm with you with that idea. It's got to be cheaper to retrieve than oil buried miles under the ocean floor.

  • the value of the oil in the tankers doesnt cover the cost of getting it.

  • i dont think this issue should be about who pays for the cleanup, it should just be cleaned, its the environment.

  • I hate wars. they continue to destroy thing even after wars are over.

  • I mean nice to know. not nice for the devastating.

  • nice
