Great tune guys. Believe it or not, I've heard (and played) this song at three separate jams in the D.C. area in the last year. It's starting to become something of a standard around here.
my ancestors owned coal mines in ky.one was a great uncle.the only time i ever saw him was at his funeral.i'm 5 or 6 at the time i don't have any idea what's going on.his wife tried to jump into the grave with him.i guess that's why i still remember. i thought she was a crazy lady. i don't remember how old he was.he had sold the mine.i think someone said he died of black lung disease.i also think he was broke.
This is very good Bluegrass music. I like this song. Thank you for posting and thanks to J.T. for sending. He sure knows how to pick the best ones. 5*****'s Shirley.
You guys really have a handle on what makes a great bluegrass song. Not since Miner's Prayer has there been a song that so well expressed the life of a coal miner!
Checked out your website. Great music there too. any plans to post anything new soon? Music like y'alls is what has me at 46 wanting to learn the banjo. Best of luck nd continued success
Thanks for the comment. We were in Mt Airy, NC, in September, playing at the WPAQ Merry Go Round and later just a short hop away at Marion, Virginia. We sure hope to get back to NC real soon. Great place to play music! Thanks for watching the video. If you want to hear more sound clips, go to my website at www.jamesreams.com. Thanks, again.
