A "Big One" earthquake is something like 8.5 or more which is, of course, extremely devastating and is likely to happen soon.

it'll take thousands of small earthquakes to relieve the fault, which means, there will be a big one coming, we just don't know when, may sound scary but should be soon as in within 10 years. none of that 9.0 crap though, most likely 6.7+ or that was what was stated last year, I don't know about it this year, but USGS said the longer it takes to come the larger the magnitude

They've been predicting "The Big One" for years. But trust me when I say that it won't be for another century or two before California is struck by a jolt 7.9 or higher. Major quakes mostly in the 6.5.-7.2 strike California mostly once every decade.
